DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Jake Odorizzi MIN @ DET - $10,900

For having 10 games on the slate, pitching is relatively weak. We do have a few guys in play, but nobody comes without a couple blemishes tonight. Jake Odorizzi is the safest of the bunch, hosting the Detroit Tigers as -245 favorites. Odorizzi has been excellent against both sides of the plate and is striking out 9.79 batters per nine innings. The Tigers rank 28th in baseball against righties with a team .286 wOBA and high 26.2% strikeout rate. Odorizzi isn’t too expensive and there’s not much of a way around him in cash games. I wouldn’t get too cute with two pitcher sites.

Noah Syndergaard NYM vs. COL - $8,900

There is no way Noah Syndergaard should be under $10k on DraftKings. Especially when he’s at home and facing a lineup that more than struggles on the road. They also rank 25th against righties and strikeout 26% of the time. Syndergaard hasnt been his high-strikeout self, but he’s been super unlucky and his peripherals point to him still being one of the best pitchers in the league. The Rockies always have weapons, but are extremely muted outside of Coors Field and Vegas backs that up with just a 3.40 projected run total. Syndergaard is too cheap and makes for a great play in both formats.

DraftKings DFS Infielders

C - Welington Castillo CHW @ KC - $3,300

If you have the money to spend at catcher, Mitch Garver is your top option. He should be in the top of the order for a Twins team that holds the highest projected total on the slate. We’ll get to a bunch of the guys soon enough, but just know Garver is the top overall catcher. We’ll focus on Wellington Castillo, who’s just $3,300 and should be hitting cleanup against Glenn Sparkman. The White Sox are expected to put up close to five runs tonight and Castillo will have every chance in the world to get himself involved. The price and match-up is just too good to pass up with everyone else we’d like to pay for on this slate.

1B - C.J. Cron MIN @ DET - $4,700

The Twins are our top offense of the slate, projected for close to six runs by Vegas. They’re facing off against Ryan Carpenter, who has been absurdly bad this entire season. He’s allowed both righties as lefties to smash a .350+ wOBA and he’s allowed seven hole runs in just 25 innings. We know this Twins lineup is extremely dangerous and C.J. Cron is one of the big weapons. While an overall top 20 hitter on the season, his .429 wOBA vs lefties deserves recognition. His price isn’t too high and I’ll make sure he’s plugged in across the board.

3B - Miguel Sano MIN @ DET- $4,600

Third base has become more and more like 1st base, with a ton of sluggers and guys that are the focus of their respective offense(s). Miguel Sanyo has been hitting lower in the order for the Twins, but it’s just given him more RBI opportunity while keeping his ownership down. Ryan Carpenter is bad, but a lot worse against righties with a .486 combined wOBA. Sano on the other hand, hits lefties for a .340 wOBA and hits the ball hard 42% of the time. He’s going to go overlooked at third and has more money than anyone.!

SS - Adalberto Mondesi, KC vs. CWS - $5,500

Shortstop is one of the tough positions to fill out on this slate. If you don't have much money to spend, wait for lineups to come out and punt with a guy that finds himself higher in the order than usual. That will always happen on Sundays, when more players rest than any other day. With that being said, Adalberto Mondesi is a great play if you do have the funds. You know the Royals are expected to put up runs when Glenn Sparkman is pitching and they're still favored. Reynaldo Lopez can strikeout anyone, but he also has huge home run issues and can't hold runners. This is a huge ballpark and things could get out of hand early. Mondesi is quietly one of the more consistent hitters in baseball, producing night in and night out without the recognition. The Royals are going to go way overlooked and Mondesi is a great way to spend if you have it.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Nelson Cruz, MIN vs. DET - $4,400

That's right, another Minnesota Twins bat. Nelson Cruz has always mashed lefties and there is no chance I ever stack the Twins against a southpaw without Cruz. Since 2017, he's held a .407 wOBA and has as much power as anyone. His price is down under $5k, so he won't cost you much and has double home run upside. Ryan Carpenter will be lucky to get out of the fifth inning here and once he does, an equally bad bullpen will enter. Cruz is an easy play in the outfield if you think the Twins live up to expectations today.

Ryan Braun, MIL vs. PIT - $4,400

The Brewers are the other team expected to put up big runs and Ryan Braun should be in the three hole. Lorenzo Cain is also in consideration against a lefty, but Braun has always hammered then and has looked a lot like himself recently. If you've been watching any Brewers games, you'll probably play Braun today. He's not only been patient, but is driving the ball to all fields like he did back in the day. Steven Brault has given up a pitiful .406 wOBA to opposing righties and his peripherals don't give up much hope. Braun is affordable and a great power pairing with Nelly Cruz. You can stack the entire Brewers outfield as well.

Eloy Jimenez, CWS @ KC - $3,300

If you need to save some, Eloy Jimenez is affordable and a great guy to combo with Welington Castillo, who we touched on earlier. Jimenez is typically a boom or bust guy with so much power, but he's been hitting a bit more consistent of late and should at least put up a couple FP in worst case. Glenn Sparkman has allowed a .346 wOBA to opposing batters and has a huge HR issue. It won't be easy for Jimenez to get it out of this park, but he's the guy with the power to do it. He's also way too cheap and will help you spend elsewhere while giving you upside.
