Tyreek Hill Trade Proposal, Rumors, and Top Landing Spots - Fantasy Football Player Outlook (2025)

Tyreek Hill - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Picks

John breaks down the latest in Tyreek Hill trade rumors, top team destinations, fantasy football outlook, and impact on other Miami Dolphins players in a potential trade.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill easily had the most disappointing season of his career in 2024, at least relative to expectations. After two league-winning seasons in a row, he failed to come close to his projections last season, finishing as the overall WR18.

What was worse were his matchup-losing weeks. 6.6, 7.0, 8.2, 2.3, and 5.6 PPR point weeks are terrible totals for a player drafted as high as he was, and one you felt like you had to start each week. And at 31 years old, an age-related fall-off, being the explanation (partially) for his poor performances, is likely.

Still, if he's traded to another team, things could always change. The Miami Dolphins in 2024 were a shell of their former selves. Perhaps greener pastures await Hill as his career winds down. So let's break down his current situation, the trade rumors, top destinations, fantasy outlook, and impact on Dolphins teammates if he's traded!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Tyreek Hill Trade Rumors

Right now, the rumors around Hill don't have a ton of substance. It makes sense that there are rumors, though, considering Hill's age, the season he had last year, the lack of WR talent on a lot of teams in the league, and his cap hit. His off-the-field issues come into play as well.

The Dolphins have more options now in the passing game than they did a few years ago. After 2023, it seemed incredibly unlikely that Miami would be willing to trade Hill. But things change quickly. Be sure to follow RotoBaller's coverage of the situation as time goes on. You never know what could happen.

Hill himself is responsible for many of the swirling trade rumors. He's at least hinted multiple times that he might not be happy with his current situation. Many diva receivers like him want changes of pace when they aren't putting up massive numbers that make them the center of attention in the media.

It all comes down to another team being willing to trade picks for him and take on his cap hit. Miami is likely open to the idea, or at least they should be, considering the baggage he carries with him and the money he's set to be paid.

Tyreek Hill Current Situation

The Dolphins were once the perfect home for Hill. They had a good offensive line that held up long enough for their quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, to uncork a lot of deep passes Hill's way. Fellow WR Jaylen Waddle, also a speedster, helped draw away coverage consistently.

Crucially, the team didn't have many other receiving weapons. Hill and Waddle were the only good ones. That's changed. The Dolphins now have running back De'Von Achane, the league's best pass-catching back, who's genuinely capable of running routes from WR spots in the formation and beating defensive backs and linebackers.

Achane earned every one of his 87 targets last season. He probably deserved more for what he was able to do after the catch with the ball in his hands. Miami also now has tight end Jonnu Smith, who's one of the best TEs in the league after the catch.

Miami's offense condensed and lowered its average depth of target on throws significantly in 2024, which cut into Hill's upside. We probably won't see any more dominant seasons from him like his 2022 or 2023 seasons. It seems unlikely he'll exceed his target numbers. And even if he does, he's 31 years old now.

Tyreek Hill Top Landing Spots

There are still quite a few teams that have issues at the wide receiver position, yet have good overall offenses, with solid quarterbacks and offensive coaching staffs. One of these teams is the Denver Broncos. They don't have a speedster WR that could help take the top off defenses deep right now.

Mims has been nothing close to consistent in his career. Perhaps Broncos head coach Sean Payton can scheme up ways for Hill to produce better than he did in 2024. Another good place for him to go would be the Buffalo Bills, obviously. Being paired with quarterback Josh Allen would be great.

Allen's rocket launcher of an arm would be ideal for Hill's long speed, and the Bills don't have a marquee receiving threat right now. They tend to sign over-the-hill veterans and other mediocre options to fill out their corps, rather than spend any decent amount of money on good pass-catchers.

Hill would be in a better situation on both of these teams. He'd have less target competition and a less injury-prone quarterback.

Tyreek Hill Trade Impact On Other Dolphins Players

There's no doubt that a trade would mean good news for the fantasy football outlooks of Waddle, Achane, and Smith. While many would immediately assume that Waddle would be the biggest winner of the trade, I wouldn't be so sure. Waddle has maintained impressive efficiency on the field, but the tape is less than encouraging.

I'm not sure he'd receive a massive boost in targets. I would think that Achane would be the biggest winner, with Smith being second. The running back and tight end positions stand to benefit more, from a fantasy perspective, from getting big upticks in targets.

Ignore the betting line there. It's just that Achane's potential as a receiver is still not yet totally realized. That's what makes the prospect of a Hill trade so exciting. Additionally, Smith could finish the season as a top-3 TE if Hill were to be traded. That's a lot of vacated targets that could come his way.

Waddle was the odd man out in this team's offense last year. I'm not sure how exactly that would change. While he has genuine 4.2 speed, the problem is that he and Tagovailoa's connection has suffered in recent years. Tagovailoa's average depth of target when throwing to Waddle is under 10 yards.

I'm more interested in Smith and Achane's upside boosts from a Hill trade.

Tyreek Hill Fantasy Football Outlook

If he does stay with the Dolphins, I'd expect at least a more consistent season than last year. But at his current ADP, I wouldn't be very interested. The age cliff comes very quickly for wide receivers, and Hill could quickly be losing his ability to win simply by accelerating past defensive backs.

Hill's always won with his absurd athleticism. He's not an elite route-runner and is actually pretty poor at making contested catches. Last season, there were a lot of reps on tape where he just didn't have the separation to win easily, and the passes were knocked away.

And even going back to last season, some cracks were starting to show. Though he was still winning easily with his elite speed, he suffered from brick hands at times. Hill has never been a great hands-catcher of passes, instead often preferring to run under passes and body catch them.

That's fine when things are going well, but when the juice starts to fade, it gets tougher. To this point, we haven't mentioned another crucial detail -- Hill carries massive risk at his ADP, because if Tagovailoa gets another concussion, he could end up on injured reserve again -- and for even longer than four weeks.

I'm not super optimistic about drafting Hill, and will be avoiding him in all formats as a result. Perhaps if he falls in some leagues, sure. His ADP is around spot 27 (WR15) in PPR, but should inevitably rise to the 2nd round closer to the season.
