NFL DFS Lineup Picks for DraftKings, FanDuel: Preseason Week 2 Fantasy Football (8/18/2024)

Bo Nix - College Football Rankings, NCAA CFB DFS Lineup Picks

The top daily fantasy football lineup picks for DraftKings, FanDuel -- NFL preseason Week 2 games on August 18, 2024. Doug's NFL DFS analysis and sleepers picks.

Week 2 of the NFL preseason wraps up tonight with a two-game slate featuring the Green Bay Packers heading into Denver to take on the Broncos and the New Orleans Saints facing off against the San Francisco 49ers. Brock Purdy is the only starting quarterback who will play in these games, but even he should see very little work, which means we will be relying on backups and people fighting for roster spots to fill out our lineups.

With the slate being only two games, we don’t have to worry too much about negative correlation, so using up to four players from one team won’t be a problem. Surprisingly, the 49ers have the fewest interesting players to stack tonight, while the Broncos could be the most fun team on the slate.

Here you will be provided daily fantasy football picks on FanDuel and DraftKings for the Sunday evening two-game slate of Week 2 of the NFL preseason on 8/18/24. These NFL DFS lineup picks can vary from high-end players and elite options to backup and contrarian players on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Thanks for reading, and good luck RotoBallers!

Preseason NFL DFS Picks – Quarterbacks

Bo Nix, DEN vs. GB

Bo Nix has done enough in practice and his first preseason outing to get the nod as the starter for this game. He looked great last weekend and hopes to build upon that this weekend against Green Bay.

Nix isn’t a running quarterback like Lamar Jackson, but he has enough mobility to bring more to the table than the standard pocket passer. His rushing floor and expected volume are enough to push him to the top of the heap for cash games.

Jake Haener, NO at SF

You can flip a coin between the two Saints quarterbacks this weekend. Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler looked excellent last weekend and the battle between the two for the backup quarterback job in New Orleans has been fun. Haener has slightly more experience, giving him a slight advantage over Rattler.

He should also have better weapons as he will play with guys who are likelier to make the roster. You can stack him with A.T. Perry (if he is not too injured to play) and Cedrick Wilson Jr. as the two battle for the third wide receiver spot on the Saints.

ALSO CONSIDER: Sean Clifford (GB), Spencer Rattler (NO)

Preseason NFL DFS Picks – Running Backs

Jordan Mims, NO at SF

Alvin Kamara is banged up and won’t play this game, and Kendre Miller hasn’t been healthy all training camp. That has opened up an opportunity for someone to step up and grab the backup running back job in New Orleans. Jamaal Williams may be the favorite for that role, but Jordan Mims has impressed enough in camp that he should get plenty of runs today.

He had 15 opportunities last weekend -- 10 rushes and five targets, showing his versatility. In the preseason, 15 opportunities are hard to come by and we should not overlook that when selecting our running back today. If Mims matches that productivity, he is a good play in all formats.

Emanuel Wilson, GB at DEN

Emanuel Wilson is a preseason warrior for the Packers. Last year, he put up productive numbers in the preseason and he followed that up with 13 carries and a touchdown in last week's game against the Browns. MarShawn Lloyd got injured last week and may not play in this game, which should open up more opportunities for Wilson to grab hold of a roster spot. His big-play ability makes him a strong tournament option.

ALSO CONSIDER: Audric Estime (DEN), Cody Schrader (SF)

Preseason NFL DFS Picks – Wide Receivers

Grant DuBose, GB at DEN

Grant DuBose was the top receiving option last week in Green Bay, recording five catches. He even got some work with the first team during practice this week. The top four wide receivers are locked in for Green Bay, but that fifth spot is wide-open.

DuBose is the favorite for that spot after last weekend, but he can further solidify his status with a repeat performance. You can stack DuBose and Sean Clifford with either Malik Heath or Bo Melton for tournaments. DuBose is a top cash game target at the receiver position.

Cedrick Wilson Jr., NO at SF

Cedrick Wilson Jr. is competing with A.T. Perry for the third wide receiver spot on the Saints. Perry is banged up and may not play in this game, opening up an opportunity for Wilson to make his claim for that spot. Last week, Perry had four receptions for 85 yards while Wilson only had one target. His lack of volume last weekend takes him out of cash game consideration, but he is the top option to stack with Jake Haener in tournaments.

Devaughn Vele, DEN vs. GB

Devaughn Vele has impressed the Broncos coaching staff so much that they say he is running ahead of Troy Franklin in the wide receiver pecking order. Considering how hyped Franklin was coming into training camp, that is a big deal. Vele got banged up during practice this week, but he still has a chance to play in this game.

If he finds his way onto the field, he should be a main target for Bo Nix and the Broncos backup quarterbacks. His uncertain status makes him a tournament-only play as part of a Broncos stack.

ALSO CONSIDER: Tim Patrick (DEN), Malik Heath (GB), Bo Melton (GB), Jacob Cowing (SF), A.T. Perry (NO)

Preseason NFL DFS Picks – Tight End

Jake Tonges, SF vs. NO

This is a gross slate for the tight-end position. Almost no players made any impact last weekend from this position. Jake Tonges had three catches for 27 yards, and if he can replicate that this weekend, he could lead the position in points. He is currently listed as the fourth or fifth tight end for the 49ers, making him a contrarian play for tournaments.

The hope with any tight end that you pick on this slate is that they get you two catches for 20 yards with a shot at a touchdown; the position is that lean.

ALSO CONSIDER: Lucas Krull (DEN), Ben Sims (GB)

Thanks for checking this out, and good luck!
