WNBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks (6/23/23): WNBA DFS Advice for DraftKings, FanDuel

WNBA dfs lineup picks daily fantasy basketball stock

Justin Carter's top daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for 6/23/23. Expert WNBA DFS advice for DraftKings, FanDuel.

We've got a pair of WNBA games on the schedule Friday night. The Liberty and Dream kick things off for us, while the Wings and the Sparks face in the second game. Dallas lost three straight before Tuesday's win over the Dream, a victory fueled by the return of Teaira McCowan from EuroBasket. Could her return put Dallas back in contention?

If you're looking for WNBA daily fantasy picks and some betting advice this season, then you're in the right place. I'll be here providing picks for any slate with two or more games, as well as adding a little betting advice.

In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings, FanDuel. These lineup picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. The slates lock on 6/23/2023 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Want to talk more about the WNBA? I'm always available on Twitter and always down to discuss women's basketball: @juscarts.

WNBA DFS Picks: Forward

Breanna Stewart (New York Liberty)  - @ ATL - DK: $12,500, FD: $9,900

Breanna Stewart continues to have an impressive season, as she's averaging 23.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.1 blocks, and 1.7 steals per game. Just absolutely filling that stat sheet up for the Libs, which has catapulted her into the lead in the MVP race.

In her most recent game against the Dream, Stewart scored 25 points on 7-for-17 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds to go along with one assist, four blocks, and one steal. That assist total was low, as she's averaged 6.0 per game over the last three games, but that number might be a little inflated by Sabrina Ionescu missing some time. Ionescu's set to return for this one, but that shouldn't have any impact on Stewart's scoring upside, or on her ability to record double-doubles, something she's done in five of the past seven contests.

Teaira McCowan (Dallas Wings)  - @ LA - DK: $8,300, FD: $5,700

McCowan got hurt early in the year and then went overseas to play in EuroBasket, so we really haven't seen much run from one of the league's elite centers. Her most recent game was just her second contest of the season.

But in that game, McCowan showed why she's such an important piece for the Wings. She only scored nine points on 3-for-8 shooting, but she grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked a pair of shots. The Wings ended up being +9 during her 22 minutes, which isn't a fantasy stat but does show why she matters for this team, which should lead to increased minutes and higher numbers.

Azura Stevens (Los Angeles Sparks)  - vs. DAL - DK: $5,700, FD: $4,500

Stevens tried to get things going last game, but the shots weren't falling. She was scoreless, going 0-for-8 from the floor and 0-for-5 from deep. That ended a three-game streak of games with multiple threes for Stevens.

I'm heading back to the well on Friday, though. Foul trouble and poor shooting might have doomed her last game, but the volume was there for her to have a solid game. Maybe it didn't happen in that game, but against a Wings team that's struggled defensively over the last couple weeks, Stevens should have a bounceback.

(This is also a revenge game, I guess—the Wings have an almost entirely new lineup and a new coaching staff since the last time Stevens played for the team, but there still could be a little extra motivation here.)

WNBA DFS Picks: Guard

Jordin Canada (Los Angeles Sparks)  - vs. DAL - DK: $8,700, FD:  $6,700

With Lexie Brown already ruled out again due to illness, which will lead to her missing her fourth game in a row, Jordin Canada should once again be viewed as a top play. She's had at least five assists in all three games Brown has missed so far, and has scored in double figures in all three games too.

The last time Canada faced the Wings, she had 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting and also added six assists. Dallas has some perimeter defense concerns, something that potentially opens up some things for this Sparks offense.

Also of note: Canada spent most of her career described as a bad three-point shooter, but this year she's shooting over 30% from deep for the first time, as she's connected on 32.4% of her threes. She's also more than doubled her previous career high in attempts per game, as she's taking 3.4 threes per contest.

Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream)  - vs. NY - DK: $8,500, FD: $6,900

Perimeter defense remains the biggest concern for the Liberty, and perimeter offense remains one of the best things about the Dream. I'd build lineups with not only Allisha Gray, but with Rhyne Howar and Haley Jones as well.

I'm highlighting Gray here mainly because I needed to pick one Dream player—a whole section of Dream guard recommendations would be boring, right?

The last time Gray faced New York, she played 30 minutes, scoring 16 points on 5-for-13 shooting to go along with six rebounds, one assists, and two steals. That was the third time in the past five games that she's had multiple steals. And before the last game against Dallas where she was held to nine points, Gray had scored in double figures in every game this season.

Crystal Dangerfield (Dallas Wings)  - @ LA - DK: $5,800, FD: $5,200

Dangerfield missed a couple weeks, but she's played well since returning. In her first game back against Seattle, she was 6-for-10 for 15 points, and then last game against Atlanta she filled up the stat sheet, scoring just four points on 2-for-4 shooting but adding five rebounds, five assists, and one steal.

You'd like some more consistency in terms of scoring, but her current role makes her an intriguing value option. If she can knock down a couple threes, which she's done in two of the last three games, then she can produce a strong fantasy line.
