USC to Start Five True Freshmen in Week 0
USC's official depth chart for the Week 0 matchup with San Jose State lists five true freshmen in starting roles, including three pass-catchers. Wide receivers Kayden Dixon-Wyatt and Trent Mosley, tight end Mark Bowman, cornerback Elbert Hill IV, and edge rusher Luke Wafle are all slated to start in their collegiate debuts. The Trojans signed the No. 1 overall recruiting class in 2026 (247 Composite), so this isn't a huge surprise, but we have seen starting lineups become older in the transfer portal era. Needless to say, all five freshmen are expected to play significant roles this season, and head coach Lincoln Riley has stated his team is ready to make a College Football Playoff push. Dixon-Wyatt, Mosley, and Bowman should all be on the waiver wire "watch list" in college fantasy football leagues.
