Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups - JuJu Smith-Schuster, Romeo Doubs, DeMario Douglas Fantasy Football Outlooks

Romeo Doubs - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Week 2 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for JuJu Smith-Schuster, Romeo Doubs, DeMario Douglas in 2025. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.

Welcome to another edition of our Week 2 waiver wire pickups for 2025. The wide receivers discussed in this article outscored Ja'Marr Chase, Nico Collins, and A.J. Brown, and they're available in the vast majority of leagues. But don't necessarily scramble to pick up these free agent wide receivers on the waiver wire.

Those star wide receivers will be fine, and the wide receiver waiver wire isn't exactly bustling this week. But, if you're straddled with injuries already -- like Xavier Worthy (shoulder) and Drake London (shoulder) -- then these guys with steady snaps could pay dividends.

Are JuJu Smith-Schuster, Romeo Doubs, or DeMario Douglas worth adding off the waiver wire in Week 2? Here are the latest fantasy football outlooks for each wide receiver.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

JuJu Smith-Schuster Waiver Wire Outlook

Rostered: 1% of leagues

Baller Move: Consider in 14+ Team Leagues

It's 2025, and it feels like we shouldn't be talking about JuJu Smith-Schuster in the fantasy football world anymore. And yet, he's only 28 years old and manages, year after year, to make enough of a mark to draw some eyeballs.

Smith-Schuster caught five passes for 55 yards in Kansas City's Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, following the first-quarter injury to Worthy. The Chiefs were already without the suspended Rashee Rice, pushing Marquise Brown into the WR1 position. Smith-Schuster and Tyquan Thornton followed suit. That pair ran 38 routes apiece, with Smith-Schuster earning a target advantage. That should continue in Week 2, should Worthy miss time.

Smith-Schuster only had one double-digit scoring effort in 2024 in a similar situation. He caught seven passes for 130 yards against New Orleans (Week 5), the game immediately following the loss of Rice for the season. Brown was also sidelined for that game. It was Worthy and Smith-Schuster, alongside Travis Kelce, for Patrick Mahomes to target. Sound familiar?

If history repeats itself, Smith-Schuster could put together a random explosive game. It's not an ideal strategy to depend on, especially since he's, at best, the third option. Fourth-round rookie Jalen Royals (knee) could return soon to complicate the rotation.

In deeper leagues, Smith-Schuster is worth a depth look because he will run a favorable number of routes. Otherwise, Brown and Kelce will dominate the targets and keep Smith-Schuster in the "past his prime" category.

Romeo Doubs Waiver Wire Outlook

Rostered: 15% of leagues

Baller Move: Consider in 12+ Team Leagues

The Green Bay Packers invested a first-round pick in the wide receiver position to reinvent a depth chart littered with good, but not great, players. Despite the presence of Matthew Golden, little changed for Matt LaFleur's offensive philosophy.

Wide receivers rotated in and out, and none were targeted more than five times. Doubs and tight end Tucker Kraft were the only pass catchers to be on the field more than 70 percent of Green Bay's offensive snaps.

Wide Receiver Offense
Snap %
Routes
Run
Targets
Romeo Doubs 70.8% 17 4
Matthew Golden 47.9% 13 2
Dontayvion Wicks 45.8% 10 2
Jayden Reed 37.5% 12 5
Malik Heath 22.9% 4 0

So, yes, Doubs was the de facto WR1 for the Packers on Sunday, although he was out-targeted by Reed in the latter's limited playing time (due to both personnel and a foot injury).

However, Doubs has been first or second in wide receiver snap counts for Green Bay since his rookie season, and he's always just been okay for fantasy football, barely averaging double-digit PPR fantasy points in 2023 and 2024. He will continue to be a low-ceiling option at the position.

The Packers may need to throw more in upcoming games. Jordan Love was off to a sizzling start against Detroit, including a 48-yard connection with Doubs in the second quarter, but didn't need to throw in the second half with a big lead. Even with an increase from 22 to, let's say, 30 attempts, there are still too many mouths to feed in this offense.

If a fantasy manager needs a plug-and-play wide receiver due to injuries, Doubs can give you a decent outing. If it's just for bench depth, I'd rather stash a higher-upside candidate.

DeMario Douglas Waiver Wire Pickup

Rostered: 15% of leagues

Baller Move: Consider in 12+ Team Leagues

If Douglas hadn't found paydirt in Week 1, there would be columns about potentially dropping the New England slot receiver (for the minority that rostered him). Not only did he finish with negative receiving yards in the season opener, but he also had fewer yards than his quarterback, Drake Maye.

There are some encouraging signs for Douglas, however. Maye targeted him seven times, tied with Stefon Diggs and behind Kayshon Boutte and Hunter Henry, and he tied with Henry for the second-most routes on the team. Boutte was the leading receiver (and the New England wideout to target on the waiver wire), and Diggs was often targeted when on the field.

The veteran played in three-receiver sets almost exclusively while ramping up following his ACL injury last season.

If/when Diggs plays more snaps, Douglas' slot role still seems secure, and it's a position that offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has prioritized in his previous stops. It didn't work out for Douglas on Sunday outside of the short touchdown, but it's a little early to give up on him if you drafted him.

If he is on the waiver wire, he is in a large group of possible adds like Doubs and Wan'Dale Robinson. But I'd place him behind the likes of Boutte, Calvin Austin III, and Quentin Johnston.
