Dallas Stars defenseman Thomas Harley has been signed to an eight-year, $84.696 million contract extension. Starting next season, Harley's contract will have a cap hit of $10.587 million. The talented defenseman is currently in the final season of a two-year, $4 million bridge deal. Over the last couple of years, Harley's development has been hugely impressive, and he's also made a great start to the 2025-26 campaign. With 10 games played, Harley boasts eight points (one goal, seven assists) and has blocked a team-high 30 shots. At 24, Harley is still young for a defenseman and appears to be on track for a very successful career.--Taavi Pailk

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere (lower body) saw his comeback to the lineup cut short by another injury on Tuesday against the Vegas Golden Knights. After missing three games due to a lower-body injury, Gostisbehere suffered a new injury described as being in his "midsection area." Gostisbehere logged over seven minutes of action in the first period but didn't return for the second. He has posted seven points (one goal, six assists) in six games during a highly productive start to the year. If Gostisbehere is sidelined again, Mike Reilly, who has totaled three assists in six appearances, may get another look in the lineup.--Taavi Pailk

Vancouver Canucks right wing Conor Garland (undisclosed) exited Tuesday's tilt against the New York Rangers before the third period. He finished scoreless in 15:30 of action. Canucks head coach Adam Foote didn't have an update on Garland after the game. Vancouver has suffered several early-season injury blows, and losing Garland would be one of the toughest losses. He's been the highest-scoring Canucks player this season, with 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 11 games. The Canucks face the St. Louis Blues next on Thursday night, and Kiefer Sherwood might replace Garland in the top six if he can't play. Nils Aman will likely take his spot in the lineup. Sherwood leads the Canucks with six goals and could be an intriguing addition to fantasy squads if he takes Garland's place.--Taavi Pailk

Anaheim Ducks forward Mikael Granlund (lower body) is expected to miss a few weeks of action. "We're probably looking at a couple, three weeks," Ducks head coach Joel Quenneville said before Tuesday's game against the Florida Panthers. Granlund, who has tallied eight points (two goals, six assists) in as many outings, missed his first game of the season on Tuesday night. In total, Granlund will likely miss at least seven games. Jansen Harkins came into the lineup as his replacement against Florida, although his impact on the fourth line was minimal.--Taavi Pailk

San Jose Sharks forward Adam Gaudette (upper body) could be out for more than day-to-day, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. Gaudette sustained an upper-body injury on Sunday versus the Minnesota Wild and will miss his first game of the season on Tuesday when the Sharks face the Los Angeles Kings. Even though Gaudette has averaged less than 11 minutes of ice time, he has made a notable impact in his nine appearances this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist. Jeff Skinner, who was a healthy scratch on Sunday, will take Gaudette's place in the Sharks lineup against the Kings. Skinner averaged a point per game in the first four contests of the season, but he hasn't added any to his tally since then.--Taavi Pailk

San Jose Sharks defenseman John Klingberg (lower body) will return from a six-game absence on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. He will join Mario Ferraro on the second defensive pairing and take a spot on the first power-play unit. Before he was hurt, Klingberg recorded one power-play goal and an even-strength assist in three appearances. On Tuesday, he has a good chance of being more successful with the man advantage, as the Kings have only killed 73.8 percent of their penalties this season. Klingberg's return will push Vincent Iorio out of the lineup.--Taavi Pailk

Los Angeles Kings winger Warren Foegele (upper body) won't play against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night and will miss "some time," Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports. Foegele has been left nursing an upper-body injury after taking only a couple of shifts in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. He has been ice-cold early in the season, contributing only one goal in 10 games. Joel Armia, who has scored in back-to-back games, will likely have an expanded role until Foegele returns. Jeff Malott is expected to fill the open spot in the lineup.--Taavi Pailk

New Jersey Devils defenseman Brett Pesce (upper body) will exit the lineup for Tuesday's matchup against the Colorado Avalanche and isn't expected to return for at least a month. The hardworking rearguard suffered an upper-body injury against the Avalanche on Saturday. Pesce leads the Devils with 24 blocks and has contributed three assists in nine games on the offensive end. Seamus Casey will play in Pesce's absence on Tuesday. At the same time, Simon Nemec, who bagged a hat trick of assists in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win, could see more usage on the blue line.--Taavi Pailk

St. Louis Blues winger Jake Neighbours (leg) has been ruled out for at least five weeks. He injured his right leg on Saturday in a matchup against the Detroit Red Wings and will miss a second consecutive game on Monday night when there's a rematch scheduled against Detroit. Overall, he will probably end up missing around 20 games, which is a significant setback for both the player and the team. Neighbours has been the early-season scoring leader for St. Louis, tallying six goals and seven points in eight games. In his absence, Mathieu Joseph, who scored his first goal of the season in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, may receive increased ice time.--Taavi Pailk

Boston Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm (undisclosed) has been activated from Injured Reserve and appears ready to return to the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the New York Islanders. Health issues have limited Lindholm to only three appearances this season, and he last played on Oct. 18. While the Swedish blue-liner hasn't yet registered any points during the campaign, he has averaged two blocks per game. Lindholm will return to the first defensive pairing, replacing Michael Callahan in the lineup. Boston reassigned Callahan to the minors on Tuesday.--Taavi Pailk

New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom will start in Tuesday's matchup against the Colorado Avalanche. After missing a couple of weeks with a lower-body injury, Markstrom dressed as Jake Allen's backup on Sunday versus the Avalanche, and he will now make his return to action. This season, Markstrom has produced an underwhelming 3.89 goals-against average with a .845 save percentage, but he holds a winning record of 2-1-0. The Swedish netminder should see plenty of rubber in Tuesday's matchup, as Colorado has recorded by far the most shots on goal in the league with 338 through 10 games.--Taavi Pailk

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes (lower body) will be out for a second consecutive game on Tuesday against the New York Rangers. The star blue-liner remains day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Hughes has maintained a spot among the top-scoring defensemen in 2025-26, sitting on seven points (one goal, six assists) with nine games played. Marcus Pettersson has replaced him on Vancouver's first defensive pairing, while Tom Willander is set for his NHL debut on the third pairing against the Rangers. Hughes' next opportunity to return will come on Thursday night against the St. Louis Blues.--Taavi Pailk

Ottawa Senators winger Drake Batherson piled up three points as the team ran riot against the Boston Bruins on Monday night, winning 7-2. Batherson provided two of the goals and had one assist. He bagged two points on the power play. After missing a few games at the beginning of the season due to injury, Batherson has been on a roll, accumulating 10 points (four goals and six assists) in seven games. The 27-year-old has finished each of his last two games with three points. His success has been bolstered by Ottawa's lethal power play, which has converted a league-best 35.1 percent of its chances with the man advantage.--Taavi Pailk

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby hit a special milestone in Monday's 6-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues, becoming the ninth player in NHL history with 1,700 career regular-season points. He needed the fourth-fewest games to reach the mark, doing so in his 1,362nd appearance. Crosby finished the game with a goal and two assists. He became the fourth player with at least 1,700 points with one team and set a new franchise record with his 498th career multi-point game, passing Mario Lemieux. The Penguins captain trails only Gordie Howe (505) for the most multi-point games with a single franchise in NHL history. Despite being 38 years old, Crosby continues to perform at an elite level, and he could rewrite the history books a few more times this season. With 10 games played, Crosby has tallied seven goals and 14 points.--Taavi Pailk

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Michael Kesselring (lower body) is penciled in for his season debut on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. After recovering from a lower-body injury, Kesselring recently returned to practice, and if he avoids any setbacks during the morning skate on Tuesday, the Sabres blue line will get a nice extra piece. Last season, Kesselring played all 82 games with Utah, tallying 29 points (seven goals, 22 assists), 150 shots, 67 blocks, and 87 hits. Jacob Bryson (concussion) is also expected to be available against Columbus, giving Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff even more options in defense. Zach Metsa will definitely come out of the lineup on Tuesday after he was reassigned to the minors.--Taavi Pailk
