Tier 1 QB Ranking Analysis
Josh Allen remains the top quarterback option in this year's draft. This should be no surprise considering that he has been a top-2 fantasy quarterback in each of the last five seasons. He has a phenomenal arm, limits turnovers through the air, and is always a threat to rack up yards and touchdowns on the ground.
Lamar Jackson's rushing ability speaks for itself, and he has shown significant improvement as a passer, too. If he can stay healthy for a full season, he'll threaten Allen for the top spot. The same is true for Jalen Hurts, whose ranking within this tier was solidified when the NFL's owners voted against banning the tush push.

Tier 2 QB Ranking Analysis
Jayden Daniels is the best running quarterback not named Lamar Jackson. As a result, he should be able to at least match his rookie year, when he was the overall QB5. However, we also can't rule out a sophomore slump, similar to what we saw from C.J. Stroud.
Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, and Bo Nix all earn a spot in this tier thanks to their prolific passing ability. Specifically, they can all extend plays and make flashy passes downfield. Burrow might be the preferred option thanks to the weapons at his disposal, but any of these guys are solid picks.

Tier 3 QB Ranking Analysis
Jordan Love slipped from QB5 in 2023 to QB17 in 2024. Missing two games certainly didn't help the cause, but we still expected more from the Packers signal-caller. Perhaps the addition of rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden is exactly what the doctor ordered for Love. His upside is high, but he's not as much of a sure thing as someone like Burrow or Mayfield.
Jared Goff lacks mobility, but as one of the best pure passers in the league, he firmly finds his way into this tier. As much as he deserves praise, we should also give plenty of credit to Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, and Jahmyr Gibbs, who are talented pass-catchers and help Goff consistently rank as a top-12 fantasy quarterback.

The jury is still out on Caleb Williams, and even Brock Purdy and Kyler Murray have yet to prove themselves as dependable fantasy options week in and week out. Of this bunch, Purdy may be the least favorable option due to his lack of rushing upside, and the offseason trade of Deebo Samuel Sr. certainly didn't help.
Here, we also see Dak Prescott, who was the QB3 in 2023 but dropped to QB32 while missing nine games last season. Prescott has been a top-10 fantasy quarterback in every odd year since 2017, but top 14 or lower in every even year since then. If the odd year pattern continues, we could expect big things from Prescott. More importantly, he'll benefit from having both CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens at his disposal.
Tier 4 QB Ranking Analysis
We're now firmly outside of the top 12 quarterbacks, which means this tier kicks off the high-end QB2 range. Drake Maye looked quite promising last year thanks to his passing and rushing ability, and he continues to trend upward with Will Campbell in the trenches and Stefon Diggs at his disposal.
Justin Herbert is a talented passer who should benefit from the presence of flashy offensive weapons like Ladd McConkey, Omarion Hampton, and Tre Harris. A second year under the mentorship of Jim Harbaugh should be beneficial.
Tua Tagovailoa and C.J. Stroud are both high-upside options, but their floors are admittedly concerning. Tagovailoa has Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle at his disposal; he looked great at home last year but quite shaky on the road. Stroud dropped to QB18 in his second pro season, and now he'll have to play without Diggs and Tank Dell (knee) at his disposal.
Justin Fields was a great fantasy quarterback before his benching last year. His rushing upside is impossible to ignore, but his landing spot with the Jets leaves fantasy managers with some concerns. The same can be said about Trevor Lawrence, who has mobility and a great supporting cast but needs to cut down on turnovers.

Tier 5 QB Ranking Analysis
The bottom end of the QB2 range looks a little ugly, if we're being honest. J.J. McCarthy's draft capital correlates to optimism in fantasy football, and we're excited to see him throwing the ball to Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. However, he's still an unproven commodity.

Bryce Young and Sam Darnold have something in common: they both excelled in short spurts. Young came on strong late in 2024, but we can't ignore his dismal start to the campaign. Fortunately, he now has Tetairoa McMillan at his disposal. Darnold tailed off late last year, but for the most part, he looked great in the Vikings offense. Now, we'll find out whether a change of scenery benefits him.
Geno Smith will also get a change of scenery as he joins the Raiders. Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers are great weapons, so we don't mind drafting him as a low-end QB2. The same can be said of Matthew Stafford and Russell Wilson, who are solid veterans but don't exactly have the highest upside.
We round out the tier with Michael Penix Jr., who tossed for two touchdowns in last year's regular-season finale. However, he's also riding a three-game interception streak and didn't get a whole lot of experience during his rookie campaign.
Tier 6 QB Ranking Analysis
This tier belongs to the quarterbacks who are nothing more than depth options or bye-week fill-ins across deeper multi-quarterback leagues. Cam Ward will face some adversity as he enters the league, but there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic after he was selected as the No. 1 overall pick.
Aaron Rodgers figures to sign somewhere before the season, with Pittsburgh making the most sense. Anthony Richardson, Tyler Shough, and Joe Flacco have an early jump on the competition within their respective quarterback rooms.
The #Colts are now preparing for an open quarterback competition between Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson, who is healthy and has no plans to seek a trade, his agent Deiric Jackson told me.
