Fantasy Football Trade Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider trading for or trading away heading into Week 9:

Khalil Shakir, WR, Bills
Trade Value: 26.1
ROS Rank: 90

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir made a strong statement in Week 8, catching six of seven targets for 88 yards and a touchdown against the Carolina Panthers.

Facing a defense that plays zone coverage at the highest rate in the league, Shakir showcased his strength as a zone-beater and delivered in a big way. Fans and media members have been calling for a larger role for Shakir, and he proved them right in the first game out of the bye week.

With Josh Allen under center and a clear path to the WR1 role in this offense, Shakir now projects as a reliable WR3 with upside for the rest of the season.

Verdict: Buy for a fair price if possible; he's emerging as the clear WR1 on the Buffalo Bills

Omarion Hampton, RB, Chargers
Trade Value: 39.4
ROS Rank: 60

Although it's unclear if Los Angeles Chargers rookie first-round running back Omarion Hampton (ankle) will be ready to come off Injured Reserve and play in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers when he's eligible, head coach Jim Harbaugh said on Tuesday that the rookie RB is improving. "To me, it looks like he's getting better every day. We know he won't be there this week," Harbaugh said.

The head coach added that he'd "rather not speculate" on anything further. The 22-year-old North Carolina product was still in a walking boot after last Thursday's win over the Minnesota Vikings and has been on IR since injuring his ankle back in Week 5.

The one thing we do know is that Kimani Vidal will get at least one more game as the Bolts' lead back, and he should be considered a must-start in Week 9 against the one-win Titans. Hampton needs to be stashed in all fantasy formats, and he is fully expected to take over lead-back duties in L.A. once he returns from IR.

Verdict: Sneaky buy-low candidate while injured; he should provide an RB2 floor when healthy

Jauan Jennings, WR, 49ers
Trade Value: 28.3
ROS Rank: 80

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings (ankle, ribs, shoulder) led the team in targets and yards in their 26-15 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 8. Jennings mirrored his Week 7 totals with four catches on seven targets, but produced more yards this time around, finishing with 45.

It was a tepid offering on a day when Mac Jones (knee) and the 49ers generated only 223 net yards on offense. It is yet to be seen if Brock Purdy (toe) will be healthy enough to resume starting quarterback duties in Week 9. Regardless of who is under center, Jennings should be one of the 49ers' top target earners alongside Christian McCaffrey and George KittleRicky Pearsall (knee) is awaiting evaluation on Wednesday, and Brandon Aiyuk (knee) is still likely a few weeks away from his return.

The San Francisco 49ers next face the injury-riddled Giants, who have given up the most receiving yards and the second-most receptions to opposing wide receivers. He should be started in 12+ team leagues, assuming he's healthy.

Verdict: Prime buy-low candidate as he should maintain a high target share whenever he's on the field

Harold Fannin Jr., TE, Browns
Trade Value: 16.4
ROS Rank: 121

Cleveland Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. led the team with eight targets, six catches, 62 yards, and one touchdown during Sunday's Week 8 loss against the New England Patriots. The rookie was one of two Browns tight ends to score on National Tight Ends' Day, joining David Njoku.

Unfortunately for the Browns, Fannin and Njoku were responsible for all of the scoring as Cleveland executed just two scoring drives in their 32-13 loss to the Patriots. Fannin has emerged as a viable starting tight end in fantasy football, ranking as the overall TE5 in PPR leagues so far.

It's not often that we see a rookie tight end produce at such a high level, especially when they are operating in tandem with another tight end (Njoku) in a subpar offense. Nevertheless, Fannin has been one of Dillon Gabriel's favorite targets and will continue to rank as a mid-to-low TE1 on the other side of Cleveland's Week 9 bye.

Verdict: Buy-low if possible while the Browns are on a bye week; he appears to be the top pass-catching option

Who Should I Trade For?

Week 9 Trade Decisions. Today's focus is on specific players - Khalil Shakir, Patrick Mahomes, Jauan Jennings, Harold Fannin Jr. Omarion Hampton, Jacory Croskey-Merrit, Kareem Hunt. These are some key fantasy football names heading into this week's matchups.

Using The Trade Values. This is a simple trade value tool, but very powerful. In our fantasy football trade value rankings above, you will see the Trade Value for each player. The higher the number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Players with a high trade value number are players that you should be targeting more in trades.

How It Works. Each week, our RotoBaller staff puts together their weekly fantasy football rankings, projections, and trade values based on their research. That information is the core data that is powering the decision-making in this trade value rankings.

How To Calculate Trades. Fantasy football managers will make 1-for-1 trades, or 2-for-3 trades, or 3-for-2 trades, or many other combinations. For each side of the deal, add the trade values together. Whichever side has a higher total number wins the trade. For example, if someone is offering you three players, add the trade values of those three players together. Does the value of those three players exceed the values of the player(s) you are trading away? If so then it's a good deal for you.
