Jacob deGrom Cleared to Start Against Cardinals
Jacob deGrom (finger) is starting in Sunday's series finale against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals at Globe Life Field. deGrom was bothered by a finger issue in his latest outing on Monday against the Toronto Blue Jays, when he allowed two earned runs on five hits (one homer) while walking two and striking out none in his second loss of the year in 5 1/3 innings. It was the 36-year-old's shortest outing since he went five innings on May 10 against the Detroit Tigers. Although deGrom threw only 81 pitches on Monday, he shouldn't have any workload restrictions on Sunday unless his finger issue crops up again. Overall in 2025, the two-time Cy Young winner has bounced back nicely from injuries, going 4-2 with a 2.42 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 62 strikeouts in 63 1/3 innings over 11 starts. The Cardinals have the 10th-best OPS (.728), but deGrom is a must-start in fantasy.
