Mid-Week Waiver Wire Rankings - Fantasy Baseball Pickups: Luis Matos, Joey Ortiz, Reed Garrett, David Fry, Shane Baz, Alec Burleson

David Fry - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Mid-week fantasy baseball waiver wire rankings for Week 9 (2024). Free-agent hitters and pitchers to add include Luis Matos, Reed Garrett, David Fry, Joey Ortiz, Shane Baz, and Alec Burleson.

Welcome back, RotoBallers, to another edition of the mid-week fantasy baseball waiver wire rankings list for Week 9 -- May 20 through May 26 -- to help you stay on top of the waiver wire, especially in leagues that allow daily moves. The Guardians recently promoted outfielder Jonathan Rodriguez from Triple-A Columbus, while Atlanta Braves right-hander AJ Smith-Shawver was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Thursday against the Chicago Cubs. Other top prospects, such as Heston Kjerstad, James Wood, Jonatan Clase, Jackson Holliday, and Junior Caminero, patiently await the call to the big leagues.

Some notable recent performances and injury notes include San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Matos. Since being called up to the big leagues on May 12, the 22-year-old is slashing .325/.341/.550 with two home runs, 18 RBI, and six runs across 10 games. New York Mets reliever Edwin Diaz has struggled in 2024, and his bullpen role will be more "fluid" in the near future. The Mets will turn to Reed Garrett or Adam Ottavino for save opportunities until Diaz gets right. Cleveland Guardians catcher/infielder David Fry has been red-hot at the plate, slashing .553/.667/.933 with two home runs, six RBI, and six runs over his last six games. Injuries continue to pile up as fantasy managers will need to replace San Diego Padres middle infielder Xander Bogaerts, who is out indefinitely after fracturing his left shoulder in Monday's game versus the Atlanta Braves.

This edition features players such as Luis Matos, Joey Ortiz, David Fry, Christian Scott, Reed Garrett, David Fry, Shane Baz, Adam Ottavino, Alec Burleson, AJ Smith-Shawver, Robert Gasser, and Ji Hwan Bae. We're here, as always, to help you stay on top of the latest waiver wire options, especially in leagues that allow for daily moves. Prospects that are making impacts continue to be called up, so you'll need to be informed. Be sure to stay on top of our weekly waiver wire rankings and turn on MLB news alerts to stay ahead of the curve. Once you're done here, check out our fantasy baseball prospects articles for the latest names to stash and pick up.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups List

For anyone unfamiliar, we release all sorts of fantasy baseball waiver wire articles every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. As part of that, Nick Mariano releases our waiver wire rankings list on Sundays to help you prioritize which players to target as free-agent adds off waivers. I will be pinch-hitting for Nick over the next few weeks.

In addition, we are also putting out a second waiver wire rankings list mid-week. Since many fantasy baseball leagues have daily waiver wire moves or multiple waiver wire runs per week for adding players, this mid-week rankings list should help you keep track of players emerging in the middle of the week before we reach Sunday.

This article will guide you with our weekly ranking for the relevant waiver wire pickup options, including how to prioritize them for your league (depending on the league size). Roster % is from Yahoo leagues.
