Recent Update

7/3:Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Orlando Arcia drove a pitch over the fence Sunday versus Miami for his eighth home run of the season. He is currently on pace for a 2017 season of .288 batting average with 15 HRs and 10 stolen bases. He had a .282/.339/.404 slash line in his minor league career and he can become that type of hitter with the Brewers as well. He also has 30-stolen base potential, and his glove should keep him in the lineup on a consistent basis. Don't expect a top-five shortstop out of Arcia, but he could grow into a fringe top-10 player at the position. His next three games come against the second worst pitching staff in the majors so far this season.--Jamie Mellor - RotoBaller

Beat Writer Chatter

  • @Todd_Rosiak: Phillies get the leadoff runner on in the bottom of the third as Eric Thames clanks what looked to be a good throw from Arcia.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Two on with two outs for Braun after an Orlando Arcia leadoff single and a two-out walk from Eric Thames here in the third.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Milwaukee gets a runner on in the seventh but again can’t move him. Arcia strikes out, and Nola has tied a season high with nine.
  • @Haudricourt: RT @Todd_Rosiak: Phillips snaps the streak with a flyout, then Arcia strikes out to end Brewers’ fifth. Six of last seven batters have fann…
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Phillips snaps the streak with a flyout, then Arcia strikes out to end Brewers’ fifth. Six of last seven batters have fanned now.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Arcia hits the ball hard, but it results in a 4-6-3 double play.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Pinch-hitter Eric Thames delivers a one-out single, and the Brewers have two on with Arcia coming up.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Arcia draws a walk, and Ryan Braun will pinch-hit for Nelson.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Sorry, Piña double. Got ahead of myself. Keon Broxton then pinch-hits for Phillips and strikes out against Wade LeBlanc. Arcia up now.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Costly out for Pérez, too, as Arcia follows with a double to CF. That’ll end Taillon’s day.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: And Orlando Arcia follows with a timely, productive out to the right side. Piña scores to make it 2-1, and Phillips moves to third.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Orlando Arcia singles in the second, but otherwise Taillon strikes out the side. He’s got five Ks through 2 IP.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Walk by Broxton, single by Arcia, but some crazy baserunning results in an inning-ending double play and leaves the score at 2-1.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Barnes fires a 1-2-3 eighth, with Arcia punctuating it with another of his signature 180 spin-throws for the third out.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: @BrewCrewRyan Probably, but CC doesn’t want to put Arcia at leadoff and there really aren’t any other good options.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Pirates already in business in the first. Marte singles, then Orlando Arcia commits a throwing error on a grounder. RISP, no outs for Cutch.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Arcia rifles a single off Felipe Rivero’s glove, then Jett Bandy singles in his first AB back from the minors. Two on, one out in the ninth.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Manny Piña pops out and Keon Broxton strikes out. Orlando Arcia put on intentionally to load the bases for Guerra.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Arcia singles and eventually gets to third in the eighth but is stranded after Villar grounds out. Tyler Webb now on.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Single and double to open the fifth, and the Pirates are back in it, 2-1. Arcia’s throw home is wild, Suter can’t corral it, runner on 3rd.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Wow, and Shaw one-ups Arcia. Beautiful barehand play coming in on Josh Harrison’s slow chopper, and gets him at first by a step.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: More ridiculous D by Arcia, as he ranges to the right of 2B to field a Kuhl grounder, double-clutches and still gets him by a step at first.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Chad Kuhl has struck out five so far, but the Brewers take a 1-0 lead after a Travis Shaw single, wild pitch and then Orlando Arcia single.
  • @Haudricourt: RT @Todd_Rosiak: That said, CC said he expects Arcia to hit 7-8 the rest of the season. “That’s not a knock. That’s just the way we’re line…
  • @Todd_Rosiak: That said, CC said he expects Arcia to hit 7-8 the rest of the season. “That’s not a knock. That’s just the way we’re lined up this year."
