The Texas Longhorns are hoping for a much-improved rushing attack in 2026 thanks to transfer running backs Raleek Brown (Arizona State) and Hollywood Smothers (NC State). Last season, Texas finished 11th in the conference in rushing yards, and its leading rusher (Quintrevion Wisner) totaled just 597 yards. This came after four straight seasons of Texas having a 1,000-yard rusher. The Longhorns were lacking juice on the ground, which is why they were aggressive in adding two of the top running backs in this offseason's portal cycle. Brown took over for Cam Skattebo at Arizona State last season and tallied 1,380 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games. Smothers accumulated 1,128 yards and seven scores for the Wolfpack in 2025. Both backs are clearly capable of being lead ball carriers, and this might be the best duo in the nation in 2026. With a well-balanced offense and more weapons all over the field, quarterback Arch Manning is better set up for success in his second year as a starter.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBaller
