Hello, football fans! The wait has been long enough, so I won't bore you with a long, winding introduction. NFL football is back, ladies and gentlemen!

We've got football, that's right real, NFL football this week! We kick things off with a Thursday night divisional clash between the Eagles and Cowboys, followed by a Friday meeting in Brazil between the Chiefs and Chargers, before getting into a full and glorious Sunday slate of games.

From the good to the bad and the ugly, we'll go through every Week 1 game in this article, offering picks, predictions, and analysis for each and every one. Thanks for joining us here at RotoBaller; let's dive into the slate!

Philadelphia Eagles 31, Dallas Cowboys 20 (Thursday)

We kick off the 2025 NFL season with an old-school, divisional rivalry between the Cowboys and defending Super Bowl-champion Eagles. Philadelphia ended the season as a juggernaut of a team, and while they've lost some defensive pieces, the depth of talent on their roster means they've simply reloaded.

Dallas fans are probably still in a state of shock over the organization's baffling decision to trade generational defensive talent, Micah Parsons. While the 'Boys will have Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb back from injuries that ended their 2024 campaigns, they simply have too many holes remaining on defense that coughed up 4.8 yards per carry last season.

Kansas City Chiefs 24, Los Angeles Chargers 20 (Friday in Brazil)

The NFL's International Series heads to Brazil for an AFC West matchup between the Chiefs and Chargers. Many football fans outside of Kansas City keep waiting for the downfall of Patrick Mahomes and company, but a revamped offensive line and a still-stout defense will likely keep Andy Reid's squad in serious contention again in 2025.

KC has topped the divisional-rival Chargers in the teams' last seven meetings. Jim Harbaugh's first year in L.A. was undeniably a success, but the Bolts will eventually need to topple the Chiefs. With Rashawn Slater out for the season, and some unanswered questions at wide receiver, this won't be the week they snap their bitter losing streak to Kansas City.

Tampa Bay Bucs 35, Atlanta Falcons 31

Crazy things happen when these NFC South rivals get together, and we should expect more of the same when the Bucs and Falcons meet in Week 1. The total has gone over eight of the last nine times these teams have played in Atlanta, so fireworks shouldn't be a surprise.

The Michael Penix Jr. era is officially underway, as the second-year quarterback will be tasked with keeping pace with a high-octane Tampa offense that finished 2024 ranked fourth in the NFL with an average of 29.0 points per game. While the Falcons attempted to address their lack of potent pass rushers via this year's draft, Baker Mayfield should still be able to carve up this Birds defense.

Pittsburgh Steelers 20, New York Jets 17

An intriguing Week 1 matchup pits Aaron Rodgers and his new Steelers squad against a Jets club he spent the past two seasons with. Following the failed Rodgers experiment, Gang Green has elected to reboot things by hiring new head coach Aaron Glenn, and replacing Rodgers with Justin Fields - a QB that spent last year in Pittsburgh. Yep...there's all sorts of revenge narratives in this one.

While a soft rebuild might be best for the Jets in the long term, it wouldn't be surprising to see them struggle initially. Conversely, even with the addition of Rodgers, the Steelers have all the continuity in the world with Mike Tomlin at the helm. Look for Tomlin's bunch to do what they do, namely, play stifling defense and put up just enough points to get the win.

Miami Dolphins 27, Indianapolis Colts 17

The Mike McDaniel era in Miami crested with an 11-6 record two years ago, only for the wheels to fall off in last season's 8-9 campaign. While there are some underlying issues with Tyreek Hill, the Dolphins fortunes largely rest on the health of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who will be under center against the Colts in Week 1.

Indy has their own QB issues, as Giants castoff Daniel Jones has been named the Colts' starter for the season opener following a training camp battle with Anthony Richardson.

While Jones might slightly improve the team's short-term prospects, it's fair to wonder what direction this Colts squad is headed in 2025. Despite the now-low vibes in South Beach, I look for a finally-healthy Dolphins offense to show us some glimpses of their 2023 form this week.

Carolina Panthers 35, Jacksonville Jaguars 34

Both of these teams will probably bad in 2025, but they should at least be the fun kind of bad. Carolina closed 2024 with Bryce Young showing enough promise to at least be somewhat optimistic about their offensive potential this season. However, the Panthers defense is another story, as they were the NFL's only unit to allow an average of 30+ points per game to opponents last season.

Jacksonville profiles as a similar sort of team heading into their first year under new head coach Liam Coen. The Jags will have Trevor Lawrence - who missed a large chunk of time in 2024 - back under center for Week 1, though questions also linger about a Jacksonville defense that coughed up over 25 points per game last year. Both offenses should flex in this potential shootout with the continuity of the Panthers attack coming out on top.

Washington Commanders 23, New York Giants 20

Jayden Daniels put together a historically-good rookie campaign, taking the long-downtrodden Commanders to the brink of a Super Bowl appearance. The dynamic dual-threat will look to avoid any sort of sophomore slump with what should be a fairly soft opener against a retooling Giants squad.

New York added Abdul Carter to a defensive front that's stacked with talent on paper. On the offensive side of the ball, veteran Russell Wilson should be a competent placeholder until rookie gunslinger Jaxson Dart is ready to take the reigns.

Washington has upgraded Daniels' supporting cast this offseason with additions that include tackle Laremy Tunsil and playmaker Deebo Samuel. It wouldn't be surprising to see an improved version of the G-Men in 2025, but Daniels' talent should still be enough for the Commanders to edge out a win.

Arizona Cardinals 23, New Orleans Saints 14

Many have this Saints squad pegged to be the worst in the NFL this season. It's easy to understand why, as outside of a few familiar faces in Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave, and Cam Jordan, as well as a young offensive line dotted with high draft picks, New Orleans is largely devoid of talent due to their salary cap sins of the past.

The biggest void in the Big Easy is at the QB position, where Spencer Rattler will get the Week 1 start against a Cardinals defense that the Arizona front office has worked hard to upgrade during the offseason.

If the revamped Cards D can hold its own - and it should this week - then AZ's solid core offensive group of Kyler Murray, James Conner, and Trey McBride should have no trouble with what's expected to be a listless Saints defense.

Cincinnati Bengals 24, Cleveland Browns 17

While this may look like a mismatch on paper, these AFC North games always seem to be tough. Which means that although the Bengals are fielding an offensive powerhouse in 2025, don't be shocked if the Browns hang around longer than expected in this one.

The Cleveland defense will come to play, and boasts enough talent under Jim Schwartz to at least slow down the explosive Cincy attack led by Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase. The question is can 40-year-old Joe Flacco squeeze enough out of this low-fi Browns offense to keep pace? The answer is likely "no", even against what will likely be a flaccid Bengals defense.

New England Patriots 21, Las Vegas Raiders 20

These two squads each underwent massive overhauls during the offseason, which makes this one of the more fascinating matchups of Week 1 in some respects. Las Vegas hired legend Pete Carroll for one last go-round, while New England looked to the past by bringing in former Patriots star player and Titans head coach Mike Vrabel to lead the franchise into the next generation.

The Raiders acquired quarterback Geno Smith in an offseason trade and added talented RB Ashton Jeanty in the NFL Draft for an offense that will have to be improved in comparison to the 2024 version.

Meanwhile, the Pats upgraded second-year QB Drake Maye's supporting cast in a major way, most notably with Stefon Diggs and TreVeyon Henderson. It's a toss-up as to how all these new pieces will work in new systems on both sides, but we'll give the slightest of edges to the Patriots at Gillette Stadium.

San Francisco 49ers 27, Seattle Seahawks 24

This hotly contested NFC West rivalry gets underway in Week 1 with the Niners traveling to ominous Lumen Field to face Mike Macdonald's Seahawks. There's a strong chance the Seattle defense makes a big leap in Macdonald's second season at the helm, due to both continuity of scheme and an abundance of talent. However, they must face a San Francisco offense that returns a healthy Christian McCaffrey to the fold in 2025.

While we likely know what we're going to get out of Kyle Shanahan's offense, the same can't be said of Seattle, as they break in a new QB in Sam Darnold and OC in Klint Kubiak.

Darnold's presence is notable for a trio of factors which include his inability to handle pressure, Seattle's shaky offensive line, and aggressive defensive coordinator Robert Saleh's return to the Niners. The Seahawks defense will play well at home, but a couple of costly mistakes from Darnold could be the difference here.

Denver Broncos 31, Tennessee Titans 13

I've heard lots of positive training camp buzz around lots of teams, but none as strong as the growing optimism around league circles for the Denver Broncos. Sean Payton's identity has taken hold with this club, as he enters his third season in Mile High. While Payton is best known for his offensive genius, it's in large part the Denver defense that strikes fear into opponents.

The Broncos were one of the NFL's best defenses last year, and have added high draft picks and prominent free agents to an already-elite group. Titans rookie quarterback Cameron Ward will be thrown directly into the fire against a nasty Denver D, and while the young man may ultimately have a great career, this start on the road at Mile High is as tough as it gets for a rookie quarterback.

Detroit Lions 28, Green Bay Packers 27

All the shine is on Green Bay right now. The Packers are serious Super Bowl contenders following a blockbuster deal to add Micah Parsons to a team that was already playoff caliber.

You could make the argument that the Lions are headed in the opposite direction, at least on the surface, as their excellent 2024 campaign collapsed due to injuries, and they lost both their offensive and defensive coordinators to head coaching positions this offseason.

Taking that into account, I look for Dan Campbell's gritty bunch to come out fighting in this bitter divisional rivalry. Detroit has won eight straight games on the road, and against the Packers specifically, Campbell owns a 6-2 overall record with a 3-0 mark at Lambeau during his tenure in Motown. The Lions will have elite edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson back for this one, and Green Bay has yet to prove they can shutdown the rushing duo of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.

Houston Texans 24, Los Angeles Rams 21

After fielding one of the league's worst offensive lines in 2024, Houston has overhauled that unit ahead of the 2025 season. When given time, C.J. Stroud has shown himself capable of superstar-like flashes. Like the Texans, Sean McVay's Rams have serious Super Bowl aspirations this year. L.A. went the distance with the eventual Super Bowl-winning Eagles in last year's playoffs, and arguably have an improved roster this season.

However, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has missed the majority of the preseason with a lingering back issue - something that's worrisome for a 37-year-old veteran.

Compounding those concerns is Houston's ballistic pass rush, led by Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter. The Texans finished 2024 with the NFL's fourth-most sacks. Look for DeMeco Ryans' defense to pressure Stafford consistently, while the Texans offense does just enough to get it done.

Baltimore Ravens 28, Buffalo Bills 24 (Sunday Night Football)

The Ravens travel to Orchard Park for the premier matchup of Week 1 in the primetime Sunday spotlight. Baltimore will be highly motivated to avenge a loss to the Bills that ended their season in last year's AFC Divisional Round - a game in which the Ravens actually outgained Buffalo 416-273 in total yards.

With two of the game's best QBs in Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, both of these squads have Super Bowl hopes this year. Baltimore's defense gelled beautifully as the 2024 campaign progressed, and they figure to be one of the NFL's best units this season. While Buffalo paid serious attention to their defensive deficits in the NFL Draft, they did curiously little to upgrade Allen's supporting cast.

We know the reigning MVP is capable of donning his Superman cape and winning any given game by himself, I look for the Ravens more complete offense to emerge from this AFC clash.

Minnesota Vikings 23, Chicago Bears 17 (Monday Night Football)

These historic rivals will both be dealing with changes in the season opener, as Chicago hopes to break their years-long run of offensive ineptitude with new head coach Ben Johnson. Meanwhile, the Vikings will be breaking in new quarterback J.J. McCarthy following their offseason decision to let Sam Darnold walk.

While Johnson will likely get this Bears offense humming eventually, breaking Caleb Williams and company in against Brian Flores' exotic defensive schemes will be a large order. Minnesota led the NFL with 33 takeaways last season, and Flores' unpredictable, blitz-heavy scheme will put Caleb Williams to the test. While "systems" can be overrated, Kevin O'Connell has proved the worth of his. That track record, coupled with the presence of Justin Jefferson, should be enough to carry the Vikes to a season-opening win.
