Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 4: Top Free Agent Adds Include Tank Dell, Adam Thielen, Romeo Doubs, Rondale Moore, more

Tank Dell - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

We're almost done with Week 3 in the NFL, though we've got a couple of Monday night games to get through still. It's been a weird week of football, including an almost record-breaking offensive performance from the Miami Dolphins, who scored 70 points against the Broncos.

Below, you'll find some wide receivers that you should be targeting on the fantasy football waiver wire ahead of Week 4. Not all of these waiver wire options are the same. Some players may be better in PPR or deeper leagues, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all comparison. Use your best judgment when deciding which of these players is the right fit for your roster.

Be sure to also check out our Waiver Wire Adds for Week 4 for help at all the skill positions. All players on this list are around 50% rostered or below.

Editor's Note: Our incredible team of writers won two writing awards and received 12 award nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association. A big congrats to our very own Byron Lindeque (Golf) and Jordan McAbee (NASCAR) for both winning Writer Of The Year awards! Be sure to follow RotoBaller's analysis and advice all year long, and win more. Win More With RotoBaller!

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Pickups For Week 4

Tank Dell, Houston Texans - 31% rostered

I mentioned last week that you should add Tank Dell. Judging by the fact he's rostered in just 31% of leagues still, it appears many of you didn't listen. So, let's try again, even though getting Dell is going to be a lot tougher now than it was after Week 2.

The rookie looked like Houston's No. 1 receiver on Sunday, leading the team in targets with seven. He brought in five of them for 145 yards and a touchdown. No one else on the team had more than 34 receiving yards. Dell's an electric -- albeit undersized -- player and it's been clear over the last two games that C.J. Stroud wants to get the ball to him, as he's been targeted 17 times in that span.

Romeo Doubs, Green Bay Packers - 41% rostered

Christian Watson still isn't back from his hamstring issue, missing the third game in a row this week. Second-year receiver Romeo Doubs finally had a big week with Watson sidelined, as he was targeted 12 times on Sunday against the Saints, catching five of those for 73 yards and a touchdown. There's no reason Doubs shouldn't be the No. 2 receiver in this offense once Watson is back, and I believe Week 3's showing is evidence of that becoming a reality.

Joshua Palmer, Los Angeles Chargers - 2% rostered

Mike Williams left Sunday's game with a knee injury and will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.

Joshua Palmer has been the team's No. 3 receiver over rookie Quentin Johnston, and I expect him to have the first dibs on the No. 2 role now that Williams is out. On Sunday, he was targeted seven times, catching four passes for 66 yards and a score. He's the short-term answer here for the Chargers.

Quentin Johnston, Los Angeles Chargers - 32% rostered

Quentin Johnston was drafted to be the Chargers' next great receiver. Through three games, he's been the team's No. 4 wideout. Not really what people expected. But the Mike Williams injury that I mentioned above should lead to more snaps for Johnston. While Joshua Palmer has outplayed him and has a significantly higher fantasy floor right now, Johnston has more breakout potential. If I need immediate help, I lean Palmer, but I like Johnston's long-term upside more.

Adam Thielen, Carolina Panthers - 47% rostered

With Bryce Young out, the Panthers turned to Andy Dalton at quarterback this weekend, and suddenly the offense was clicking. Adam Thielen saw 14 targets, catching 11 of them for 145 yards and a touchdown.

That marks two weeks in a row with a score for Thielen and 23 targets over the past two contests. Even if the offense struggles a little more once Bryce Young is back under center, Thielen's proven he can be the reliable veteran who makes tough catches and grinds out first downs. He should be rostered in most leagues.

Marvin Mims Jr., Denver Broncos - 26% rostered

Rookie Marvin Mims Jr. finally saw more than two targets this week! After catching two passes for 113 yards and a touchdown against Washington last week, he finally saw more usage this week as he was targeted five times. He caught three of those for 73 yards. His involvement in this passing attack should continue to rise. While I'm not at a point yet where I'd be comfortable playing Mims, his talent is undeniable and I want him on my roster because he's going to start out-targeting at least one of the team's top two wideouts at some point.

Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs - 26% rostered

The Chiefs' wide receiver room has to be the most frustrating thing in fantasy football. Tight end Travis Kelce is the No. 1 option, and then no one has emerged as the clear No. 2. I thought it might be Marquez Valdes-Scantling, but he saw just two targets this week.

Rookie Rashee Rice saw seven targets this week, catching five of them for 59 yards. He came very, very close to finding the end zone twice, but came up just short. This might be more of a vibes-based comment than a stats-based one, but it just feels like Rice is starting to gain Patrick Mahomes' trust in a way that the other receivers aren't. Of course, the only sure thing with these receivers at this point is that Justin Watson will get one deep target per contest.

Kendrick Bourne, New England Patriots - 33% rostered

Kendrick Bourne saw a season-low five targets this week, catching four of them for 46 yards. Despite that, I'm not worried. The Patriots took on a stout Jets secondary, with Mac Jones throwing for a season-low 201 yards and a touchdown. Bourne has led the team in targets every week and appears to be doing a good job fending off JuJu Smith-Schuster and DeVante Parker.

Wide Receiver Deeper League Pickups For Week 4

Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers - 21% rostered

Jayden Reed was a popular waiver wire add last week after he caught four passes for 37 yards and two touchdowns. He had another solid outing in Week 3, as he was targeted seven times, catching three of those for 63 yards. I'd probably be a little higher on Reed if it wasn't for the fact that Christian Watson will be back from his hamstring injury at some point in the near future. He's worth adding in the event Watson misses the Week 4 contest against the Lions.

D.J. Chark Jr., Carolina Panthers - 10% rostered

Like Adam Thielen, D.J. Chark Jr. found the end zone this week for the Panthers, seemingly sparked by the fact that Andy Dalton was under center. Chark made his Panthers debut last week after a preseason hamstring injury held him out of Week 1 and he was targeted just once. This week, he saw 11 targets, catching four for 86 yards and a score. A healthy Chark should have a big role, regardless of who is under center.

Michael Gallup, Dallas Cowboys - 18% rostered

Michael Gallup was a non-entity the first two weeks, catching just two passes for 13 yards. But he reminded everyone that he still existed in Sunday's loss to Arizona, as he was targeted seven times, catching six passes for 92 yards. I tend to believe that Gallup should be getting closer to seven targets per game than two targets per game. With Brandin Cooks struggling, Gallup's worth adding in case he ends up as the Cowboys' No. 2 wideout soon.

Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts - 2% rostered

Michael Pittman Jr. is the star at wide receiver for the Colts, but it wasn't clear heading into the year who the No. 2 was. Well, rookie Josh Downs was second of the team's wideouts in targets in Week 1 and Week 2 and then led them in targets this week, so I think we have our answer.

With Gardner Minshew at QB because Anthony Richardson was out with a concussion, Downs was targeted 12 times, catching eight passes for 57 yards. I want to see him produce with Richardson before I put him in my lineup, but he's worth a speculative add.
