DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Daily College Fantasy Football (9/22/23)

Mike's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for Friday (9/22/23). His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.

We have a nice Friday night slate of college football on tap this week. We have four games that are all conference tilts. Tis the season!

We begin in the Big Ten(14) with Purdue hosting the Badgers. The other earlier game takes the Pack up to Hooville. We end out west with Boise leaving the Smurf Turf behind for sunny San Diego. Air Force also leaves their mountain homes for the Bay Area to take on San Jose State.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/22/23, locking at 7 PM Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Brennan Armstrong, North Carolina State ($9,200)

Maryland chewed up the Virginia defense last week. Expect the same here from the former UVA star. Armstrong hasn't had a ceiling game for the Pack yet. He hasn't even had a 300-yard passing game. What Armstrong has done is be the focal point of the offense. He has three rushing touchdowns in three games and 161 rushing yards. I can live with the pedestrian passing stats for the extra points in the run game.

Hudson Card, Purdue ($6,300)

The Badgers had some problems with Davis Brin and the Georgia Southern passing attack until they started picking him off at will. Card is a more polished quarterback and shouldn't make the mistakes that Brin did. Purdue will have to throw since the Wisconsin run defense is tough. I don't expect much leverage in the run game, leaving Card to have his second straight 300-yard game. If we get that for this price, I'll be thrilled.

Also consider: Tanner Mordecai, Wisconsin ($8,700); Jalen Mayden, San Diego State ($5,800); Anthony Colandrea, Virginia ($5,300)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

Chez Mellusi, Wisconsin ($6,000)

We have a frustrating slate as far as running backs go. Wisconsin and Air Force both have at least two backs splitting carries. North Carolina State has that along with Brennan Armstrong leading the team in rushing yards and touchdowns. Boise will have a committee situation once George Holani returns. San Jose State has a featured back, but they are facing the third-best run defense in FBS. Devin Mockobee fumbled three times last week. Virginia has about five backs that they currently use. So now what?

My answer is to use the cheaper of the Wisconsin backs. Mellusi has out-carried Braelon Allen so far, but Allen has been more explosive and has more work in the passing game. That said, Mellusi has 267 yards and has scored at least one touchdown in all three games so far. There has been plenty of work for the Wisconsin backs in the early going, and that won't change. I'm not opposed to using both Wisconsin backs if you can afford them.

Ashton Jeanty, Boise State ($5,800)

Jeanty has piled up 97.8 DraftKings points in three games. Even if George Holani returns, he likely won't be at full speed and should face limited carries. This is likely another heavy workload for Jeanty against a good San Diego State defense. Jeanty's 14 receptions (and two touchdowns in the passing game) add even more value. I like Jeanty at the depressed price considering he should still be heavily involved in the offense in some way.

Also consider: Braelon Allen, Wisconsin ($7,900); Emmanuel, Michel, Air Force ($5,500); Perris Jones, Virginia ($4,400)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Malik Washington, Virginia ($6,000)

I like Washington a lot so long as Colandrea is still the starting quarterback. At this point, I don't know why Virginia would go back to Tony Muskett even if he is healthy. Washington has 14 receptions for 260 yards and a touchdown over the last two games. For a Virginia team that runs as much as they do, those are elite shares of the passing game for Washington.

Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen, Purdue ($5,000)

Yaseen hauled in 10 passes against the Orange last week. His 14 targets were by far the most of any Purdue receiver. After getting just 10 targets in the first two weeks of the season, Yaseen gave Hudson Card a reliable target. Yaseen's height makes him a more reliable option than Deion Burks even if he doesn't have the speed that Burks does. Neither are bad options, but the possession receiver is the obvious choice against a tough Wisconsin defense.

Mark Redman, San Diego State ($4,300)

Redman gets a lot of targets for the Aztecs, especially in the red zone. The return of Mekhi Shaw likely won't cut into his workload too much. Shaw is a nice option if you're looking for a higher ceiling, but Redman provides a nice floor in receptions (he has 15 already) and remains the most targeted option in the red zone so far. What Redman lacks in breakaway speed, he makes up for in meaningful targets.

Also consider: Eric McAllister, Boise State ($6,200); Malachi Fields, Virginia ($5,600); Nick Nash, San Jose State ($5,300); Skyler Bell, Wisconsin ($3,500)

DraftKings CFB Stacks:

Wisconsin

Purdue's run defense is better than their pass defense, so using both backs seems a little counter intuitive. However, both backs are active in the passing game as well. Mordecai is quickly becoming one of my favorite quarterbacks on a slate loaded with them. Chimere Dike has been the best Wisconsin receiver for DFS purposes so far, but I much prefer a super-cheap Skyler Bell because he provides nice upside. Will Pauling was big in the first two games. I think I would use him over Dike as well if you want two receivers with Mordecai.

Boise State

The Aztecs have a reputation for being an excellent defensive team, but the statistics don't prove that so far this season. The Aztecs have given up some chunk passing plays and haven't been as strong against the run either. Boise could provide some differential from people avoiding stacking against the Aztecs. Taylen Green has already been picked off four times, but his rushing upside should offset most of that loss. At the price, Jeanty is one of my favorite plays on the entire slate. McAllister and Stefan Cobbs will get you most of the targets in the Boise passing game and will only set you back $12,000.

Also consider: North Carolina State, San Diego State
