DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (6/29/19): MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on June 29th, 2019. Ben Rolfe's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Saturday is always a split slate and this is no different. There are essentially three slates of games, with the London Series game between the Yankees and Red Sox kicking us off at 1:10 pm. That game stands alone before another eight games take to the field after 4 pm. The day finishes with a six-game slate at 8:15 pm and that is where our focus will sit with this article.

Unsurprisingly the Astros are by far the biggest favorites on this slate, with numbers as good as -300 available. There are also two home underdogs on this slate in the Rockies and Giants, with one of those providing us with an opportunity to find value. There are two double-digit totals, with the biggest being in Colorado, of course, followed by Milwaukee. However, the value is there to be found in the totals which sit just below 10, in Houston and Los Angeles.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 6/29/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @benrolfe15.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Justin Verlander, HOU (vs. SEA) - $11,500

Much like last week you really need to be willing to pay up for the best pitcher on the sate. There are other good names but no one has the upside of Verlander, who could top two points per $1K despite the high price. He also has a ridiculously good floor, as a bad game is usually still around a 19 or 20 point performance. Seattle has been good this season, ranking fifth in runs scored and second in home runs, but they have also had struggles. Verlander is worth the price because of not only the safety he offers but the potential upside as well.

Drew Pomeranz, SF (vs. ARI) - $6,400

To go with Verlander you need to get creative at your second spot. Drew Pomeranz is by no means an obvious option given his 6.79 ERA and his matchup with Zack Greinke. However, Pomeranz appears to have turned a corner the last few times at home. His last three home starts have seen him allow a total of two earned runs in 15 innings with 23 strikeouts. In those three starts, he has averaged 22.83 points, demonstrating he can put up good results despite not going deep into games.

DraftKings DFS Infielders

C - Josh Phegley, OAK (@ LAA) - $3,400

It has been a solid season for Phegley, with nine home runs already on the season. His numbers against left-handed pitching have been especially strong, with three home runs and a .333 batting average. His ISO against lefties is .294 and his wOBA is .393. Additionally, Angel Stadium plays slightly above average for right-handed hitters when it comes to home runs.

1B - Matt Olson, OAK (@ LAA) - $4,300

This is the perfect combination for left-handed hitting Olson. Angel Stadium plays even better for left-handed power than it does right-handed power. Additionally, Olson has six home runs and a .313 batting average in 53 PA against left-handed pitchers, giving him a .454 wOBA and a .438 ISO.

2B - Jose Altuve, HOU (vs. SEA) - $4,100

It has not been the most convincing season for Altuve, but his form against left-handed pitchers this season has been promising. He is averaging a home run approximately every eight PA with lefties on the mound, giving him a .462 ISO and a .514 wOBA. This price is an absolute bargain for Altuve.

3B - Matt Chapman, OAK (@ LAA) - $4,200

Chapman's overall number against left-handed pitchers are not necessarily eye-popping, but power wise he has been impressive. In 84 PA, he has 12 extra base hits, six home runs, a .347 ISO and a ,362 wOBA.

SS - Nick Ahmed, ARI (@ SF) - $3,300

This game taking place in Oracle Park is not ideal for any hitters, but its propensity to be generous for doubles and triples for right-handed hitters suits Ahmed. That is especially the case when you consider that in 83 PA this season against left-handed pitchers he has 12 extra base hits, a .346 batting average and a .385 wOBA.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Bryan Reynolds, PIT (@ MIL) - $4,500

It has been a strong to start to his major league career for Reynolds. He has already hit six home runs and has a batting average over .350 so far. Reynolds has been strong against both types of pitchers, but against right-handed pitching, he has 12 doubles, two triples, and three home runs, giving him a .405 wOBA. He is also strong against lefties, so should have the opportunity to put up results regardless of who is on the mound.

Kole Calhoun, LAA (vs. OAK) - $4,300

Calhoun has solid numbers against right-handed pitchers, with 10 home runs, a .241 ISO and a .334 wOBA. It is not spectacular, but he is also better at home this season, as he benefits from the boost for left-handed hitters.

Jake Marisnick, HOU (@ SEA) - $4,000

Marisnick should be in the lineup today against the left-handed Kikuchi. Whenever a lefty is on the mound Marisnick is an option, and usually, the price is solid enough to make him worth playing. He currently has a .353 batting average, .314 ISO and a .449 wOBA against left-handed pitching.
