NBA DFS Prop Picks for 12/14/22 - Monkey Knife Fight

With 10 games Wednesday night, so far only six are listed. With Toronto-Sacramento and San Antonio-Portland being two of the higher-scoring games, those will be the focus. Followed by Luka Doncic versus Donovan Mitchell and then Terry Rozier facing the Pistons susceptible backcourt. Hopefully, we should get to see some Nikola Jokic lines get posted at some point, mainly because of how well both Jokic and Kristaps Porzingis have been playing and that matchup should be littered with points and rebounds.

Whether you go the route of the “Joker” or wait for Golden State-Indiana, there is plenty of potential still out there that has still yet to surface on MonkeyKnifeFight.  We will work with what we have and focus on the players who are playing well and staying productive. Sadly, some of those stars are linked with players that don't know consistency is a word.

MonkeyKnifeFight.com is always ahead of the curve with their canceling of contests amid postponements, so don't worry about wasting money on a player or game that might not play. As always, you can find me in the NBA Chat Room or @HalfCourtJester on Twitter with any questions, especially since lines and players are subject to change throughout the day.

SAC @ TOR

Pascal Siakam (TOR) MORE 25.5 Points – De’Aaron Fox (SAC) LESS 21.5 Points

Perfect example of a star being linked with someone who is inconsistent. According to RotoBaller’s DFS Lineup Generator, Pascal Siakam is projected to be the third-highest scoring DFS option tonight with a PPM (Points per Minute) of 1.41. He’s going to get his usual workload and outside of last game, where no Raptors players particularly well, his previous week averages are still 26(p)-8(r)-7(a). The Kings played last night and lost to the 76ers in a borderline blowout, so facing the Raptors the following night isn’t a good sign for their defense or stamina.

While Siakam should be safe to have another big night, 26-points is still a lot from someone who doesn’t necessarily fit the selfish type of playstyle we’d prefer for this type of over bet. He’s pivotal to the offense, but he doesn’t always command the scoring. Switching it up to De’Aaron Fox, who hasn’t scored over 19-points in his last six games, telling you to bet against that trend is just unwise. Despite Fox having the ability to go for 35+ points each game, his shot isn’t falling right now. The slump should end sooner or later.

POR @ SAS

Damian Lillard (POR) MORE 27.5 Points – Keldon Johnson (SAS) MORE 22.5 Points

This is easily one of the best bets of the night. Both players are playing at a level well above what is currently being projected and realistically that’s all you can ask for. Lillard put on a shooting display last game and it wasn’t a fluke. It was the culminating of an upwards trend that peaked when the Timberwolves decided to give Lillard open three-pointers for a majority of the game. The Spurs defense can be an obstacle at times, but when guards are shooting well it’s usually a nightmare for San Antonio’s backcourt.

Keldon Johnson is the risk here, mainly because of someone like Jerami Grant making life miserable for him on both ends of the court. While Lillard hits you from the outside-in, Grant is the praying mantis ready to remind you that you still need to box out and be taller. Johnson has been finishing through contact and converting at a good rate which will help him put some points on the board, but if Portland decides to focus their attention on Johnson at any point to try and limit him there should be concern that the Trail Blazers can be successful with the tools they have.

CLE @ DAL

Luka Doncic (DAL) MORE 30.5 Points – Donovan Mitchell (CLE) MORE 25.5 Points

If there was a time to bet on Luka Doncic, it’s during this current stretch. His usage rate is at a ridiculous 40% over the last week and truthfully, the Mavericks could use a little more. 30-points, 31-points, 32-points, it doesn’t matter. There is no way his projected is jumping to above 34.5 and Dallas is putting Doncic in a position to score 35+ each and every night. No one is taking from him and it seems everything is flowing in his direction rather than away.

While ultimately still a great bet to hit 30-points as well, Donovan Mitchell has that looming thing that bettors cannot seem to stand. Good teammates. This isn’t knocking Dallas. Doncic’s supporting cast focuses on defense and that keeps them in games. The Mavericks are excellent teammates, they are just terrible on offense. No Maverick outside of Doncic can match the output of Darius Garland or Caris LeVert, which hurts Mitchell's upside. Mitchell is the primary option, but with Garland and LeVert, there’s no real reason to be greedy.

DET @ CHA

Terry Rozier (CHA) MORE 22.5 Points – Bojan Bogdanovic (DET) MORE 19.5 Points

Looking at these two players, you can already tell this is going to be a sweat. When the Hornets are without a point guard, Terry Rozier’s upside is unmatched and he’s been proving that over the last couple games. When he gets rolling the only thing stopping him is LaMelo’s return. It’s hard not to like both his points and assists props here, so don’t be shy when betting Rozier because the real challenge is Bojan Bogdanovic and whatever he might do.

If you want to see what would frustrate a bettor, just look at Bogdanovic’s game log. So much potential wrapped neatly in a fun little game called basketball. Anyone who has played the sport knows that sometimes the ball just doesn’t go in and it’s entirely the rims fault. Any shooter has told that tale more times than they’d like to admit, but it’s the truth and this brings us to our final point. There isn’t a single person in the world that knows what Bogdanovic is going to finish the night with…but everyone knows that he will at least shoot.
