Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 3: Top Free Agent Adds Include Garrett Wilson, Jakobi Meyers, Sterling Shepard, Noah Brown

Jakobi Meyers - Fantasy Football Rankings, Waiver Wire Pickups, Draft Sleepers

Week 2 can be described as the week of the rookie wide receiver. Garrett Wilson had two touchdowns. Drake London and Jahan Dotson both had a touchdown and a two-point conversion. Chris Olave was heavily involved in New Orleans too. Some of those names will make an appearance later in this piece. Below, you'll find some wide receivers that you should be targeting on the fantasy football waiver wire ahead of Week 3.

Not all of these waiver wire options are the same. Some players may be better in PPR or deeper leagues, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all comparison. Use your best judgment when deciding which of these players is the right fit for your roster.

Be sure to also check out our Waiver Wire Adds for Week 3 for help at all the skill positions. All players on this list here are around 50% rostered or below.

Editor's Note: Our incredible team of writers won two writing awards and received 12 award nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association. A big congrats to our very own Byron Lindeque (Golf) and Jordan McAbee (NASCAR) for both winning Writer Of The Year awards! Wide Receivers Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

Garrett Wilson, New York Jets - 21% rostered

Garrett Wilson should be regarded as the top wide receiver on the waiver wire after the rookie's two-touchdown day against the Browns.

Wilson, who caught four passes in his NFL debut last week, finished Sunday with eight catches for 102 yards and the two aforementioned touchdowns. He was targeted 14 times—the second-most targeted wide receiver was Elijah Moore with five. Wilson looks like Joe Flacco's favorite target. He should also be Zach Wilson's favorite target once he's back.

Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints - 62% rostered

13 of Jameis Winston's 40 targets went to Chris Olave on Sunday. He finished Sunday's game with five receptions for 80 yards. He could have done more, as Winston seemed to really want to get the deep ball to Olave, but the connection wasn't quite working.

The important thing is that Olave's role was really massive. 13 targets is a lot! And we know Jameis is the kind of quarterback who isn't afraid to fire the ball down the field, something that can pay off for Olave.

Jahan Dotson, Washington Commanders - 42% rostered

Dotson just keeps finding the end zone. In two weeks, Dotson has now caught three touchdowns on just 10 targets. That's not a trend that can continue, but it's still worth monitoring. Dotson caught four passes for 59 yards with one touchdown and one two-point conversion against the Lions.

The volume is too low for Dotson to be someone I'm comfortable starting on a weekly basis, but the touchdown upside makes him an option in a pinch.

Jakobi Meyers, New England Patriots - 35% rostered

There was concern this offseason that DeVante Parker was going to cut into Meyers' role as the No. 1 receiver for the Patriots. Well...I think we can say that concern was wrong.

Parker has four targets and one reception over the first two games of his Patriots career, while Meyers was targeted 13 times this week alone, catching nine of them for 95 yards. You can't count on touchdowns with Meyers, but his role on this team makes him him a safe flex option.

Nico Collins, Houston Texans - 35% rostered

After being targeted just three times in Week 1, Nico Collins saw nine targets in Week 2 against the Broncos. He caught four of those for 58 yards.

Collins doesn't have a ton of upside in this Texans offense, but if the target numbers can stay up, he'll have some upside as a WR4 option.

Joshua Palmer, Los Angeles Chargers - 27% rostered

With Keenan Allen out, Palmer saw eight targets against the Chiefs, catching four of them for 30 yards and a touchdown. Palmer doesn't have a lot of upside, but if Allen misses more time with his hamstring injury, Palmer has upside as a WR4 play.

Wide Receiver Deeper League Waiver Wire Pickups

Noah Brown, Dallas Cowboys - 1% rostered

After being targeted nine times in Week 1, Brown was targeted five times this week against the Bengals. He caught all five for 91 yards and a touchdown.

The good news is that Brown was involved with Cooper Rush under center. The bad news is that Cooper Rush is still under center. Still, until Michael Gallup returns, Brown has upside as a WR3 play.

Nelson Agholor, New England Patriots - 1% rostered

The Patriots' passing attack isn't strong enough to support Nelson Agholor as a consistently productive fantasy wide receiver, but managers in a deep league might be interested in him as a boom/bust option.

Agholor was targeted six times this week, catching all six passes for 110 yards and an impressive 44-yard touchdown. There will be weeks where the Patriots get Agholor heavily involved, but there will also be weeks where he finishes with two catches.

Sterling Shepard, New York Giants - 4% rostered

The Giants' receiving game officially makes no sense, which is why I'm not interested in any of their receivers other than in deep leagues. This week, Shepard led the team in targets with 10, but Richie James Jr. led in receiving yards, and David Sills V got four targets.

Shepard seems like the top target here. Kadarius Toney isn't very involved. Kenny Golladay wasn't targeted on Sunday. If you want someone here, it should be Shepard.

Scotty Miller, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 0% rostered

With Chris Godwin and Julio Jones out and Mike Evans ejected, Miller led the team in targets with eight, catching three of them for 34 yards. There's not really any upside here if Jones or Godwin are back, but with the injury situation in Tampa being what it is, Miller's not the worst speculative add in deep leagues.

Ashton Dulin, Indianapolis Colts - 1% rostered

With Michael Pittman Jr. out, Sunday really exposed the lack of weapons on this Colts team, as it was Ashton Dulin who led the team in targets with seven. Dulin caught five of those for 79 yards, which were also the best marks on the team.

I...don't know if this means anything. Every year, it seems there are a few games where a random Colts player gets heavily involved. This is probably just Dulin's turn to be that player. But he does have 13 targets this season, so if Pittman misses more time, you can play Dulin in deep leagues.
