Frank Ammirante's top hitter fantasy baseball prospects to stash for Week 5 (2026). His MLB prospects to pick up and stash on your bench and N/A spots in redraft leagues.
We're into the fifth week of the 2026 MLB season. As always, it's important to think about which hitting prospects to stash. Finding a young gem can bring more upside to your fantasy baseball teams.
In this column, I choose five different hitting prospects to stash to highlight each week. Some of these hitters could be repeat offenders on this list, but I'll try to shuffle up the selections to differentiate each time. While a couple of hitters may be close to a promotion here, others may still be a while away, but they're still worth discussing.
With that in mind, find out why Jesus Made, Joshua Baez, Braden Montgomery, Leo De Vries, and Aidan Miller are my five hitter prospects to stash that I'm going to highlight this week.

The Brewers have yet another elite prospect in the outfield in Made. This comes after Jackson Chourio has already been a huge hit. Made is currently slashing .314/.429/.543 with two home runs and eight stolen bases as an 18-year-old in Double-A. What's most impressive is the elite plate discipline, including a 16.7% walk rate and a 13.1% strikeout rate.
We've seen MLB teams be more aggressive with their prospects lately. Just look at Konnor Griffin up with the Pirates as a 20-year-old. What if Made continues to mash in the minors? Would it be crazy to think that the Brewers would give him a chance for a brief stint in September? I can definitely see that happening, especially to potentially give them an added boost in their playoff run.
That makes Made worth stashing in deeper leagues, but only if you have an NA spot, so that you don't need to have him taking up a roster spot. Once Made is up, there's some huge speed upside here, as he swiped 47 bags in 525 plate appearances in the minors last season.
Joshua Baez, OF, St. Louis Cardinals

Unlike Made, Baez is much closer to the big leagues, currently in his age-22 season. The Cardinals' outfielder is currently slashing .230/.345/.486 with five home runs and five stolen bases in 87 plate appearances at Triple-A.
While you don't like the 29.9% strikeout rate, it's nice to see the 10.3% walk rate. But the main here is the power and speed combo, as Baez can play at a 20+ HR, 40+ SB pace whenever he gets the call to the big leagues.
The Cardinals are in rebuilding mode, so eventually they're going to want to see what they have in Baez. This team has Nathan Church in left field and Victor Scott II in center, while Lars Nootbaar remains on the injured list. In other words, there aren't too many entrenched players blocking Baez from getting playing time.
This is exactly the type of profile and situation that you want to target as a stash. There's a wide-open opportunity for a fantasy-friendly profile. Once Baez gets called up, he'll become a priority pickup in all formats. I'd say that he's up around June 1, so make sure to add him to your watch list.
Braden Montgomery, OF, Chicago White Sox

The White Sox are another team in rebuilding mode, so they need to let their young talent have every day playing time. One of those players is Montgomery, who is currently slashing .344/.436/.689 with four homers and two steals in 78 plate appearances at Double-A. Montgomery has an impressive walk rate at 16.7%, while keeping his strikeout rate reasonable at 25.6%.
Chicago is probably going to be patient with Montgomery, since he's still at Double-A. Perhaps they'll give him a look at Triple-A before promoting him to the big-league roster. However, since he's 23 years old, it makes it likely that he'll be up in the big leagues sooner rather than later.
There are open spots on this roster. Montgomery can easily take over for Everson Pereira in right field, although Pereira is playing well so far. Perhaps the team will trade Andrew Benintendi to a contender at the deadline, which could also open up a spot.
I'd imagine that Montgomery will be up sometime around the All-Star break. Once that happens, you'll have a polished hitter with strong on-base skills, making him worth a look in fantasy baseball.
Leo De Vries, SS, Athletics
De Vries was the jewel of the Mason Miller trade. He's a highly regarded prospect who is off to a strong start in the minors, currently slashing .308/.403/.415 with two homers and six steals in 78 plate appearances at Double-A. The plate discipline looks pretty good as well, including an 11.5% walk rate and a 24.4% strikeout rate.
The issue with De Vries as a stash is that, since he's still only 19 years old, it's unlikely that he'll get promoted to the big leagues this season. However, as with Made, you just never know because teams are more aggressive with their young talent these days.
With that said, I think it's more likely that Made gets the call than De Vries, since the former is showing more power at Double-A than the latter. However, in the unlikely scenario where De Vries does get called up, he'd be in a great ballpark for production, as Sutter Health Park is one of the most hitter-friendly environments in baseball.
We saw De Vries put up a 144 wRC+ in 103 plate appearances as an 18-year-old at Double-A last year, so there's a ton of upside in his profile. Once he's up in the big leagues, he could produce at a 20-20 pace.
Aidan Miller, SS, Philadelphia Phillies
Now, here we have an interesting one who can make a meaningful impact this season. Miller slashed .264/.392/.433 with 14 home runs and 59 stolen bases in 526 plate appearances in the minors last season. That's the kind of stolen base upside that gives him tantalizing upside in redraft leagues.
Right now, Miller is dealing with a back injury, which has kept him sidelined for the entire year. The latest report indicates that Miller hasn't resumed swinging a bat just yet, but he's making progress. Once he's ready to return, he'll head to Triple-A, where he put up a 185 wRC+ as a 20-year-old last season. If he performs well there, there's a chance that he can be promoted to the Phillies.
When you look at the Phillies' roster, you can make the case that Miller is blocked by Trea Turner at shortstop, Bryson Stott at second base, and Alec Bohm at third base. However, the Phillies tried to trade Bohm in the offseason, so perhaps they can make that move to make room for Miller.
It's also worth noting that this team is off to an abysmal start. If they dig themselves too deep a hole, they could be more inclined to see what they have in Miller. I'd bet that he'll be up at some point this year, making him worth a stash. For now, keep him on your watch list.
