Matt's tight end (TE) fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 2 of 2025. His TE lineups advice for Week 2 fantasy football start/sit decisions.
Every year, the tight end position has us questioning what we think we know. Just a few weeks ago, no one would touch Kyle Pitts Sr. However, entering Week 2, it would appear that he and Noah Fant are destined to be a top-10 fantasy option at the position.
The secret to fantasy success is patience, and often looking at what isn't necessarily sitting in plain sight, as boxscore scouting can be a little deceiving.
With that all out of the way, here are your starts and sits at the tight end position for Week 2 of the fantasy football season.

Week 2 Starts - Fantasy Football Booms
Brenton Strange - TE, Jacksonville Jaguars at Cincinnati Bengals
In Week 1, Brenton Strange's sage was interesting to say the least. Strange would run a route on just 60.6% of Trevor Lawrence's drop-backs, but the Jaguars tight end still accounted for a 16.2% air yards share and earned a yards per target and reception of 14.75, converting on all four targets against the Carolina Panthers.
Strange was instrumental in the run game, helping pave the way for Travis Etienne's fantasy rebirth. The once-forgotten running back started the season with 143 yards on the ground on 16 attempts. Work will not go unnoticed when the team reviews the film, leading to Strange being rewarded this week against a Bengals team that surrendered 1,114 receiving yards, 10 touchdowns, and 15.18 fantasy points per game a season ago.
The Bengals' ability to defend opposing tight ends was on display again in Week 1 as rookie Harold Fannin Jr. and David Njoku combined for 10 receptions for 100 yards and 20 fantasy points. Last week, Strange led all tight ends in Expected Fantasy Points per target, and in a favourable matchup this week, more targets should be heading in his direction.
Dalton Kincaid - TE, Buffalo Bills at New York Jets
Last season, many in the fantasy community had seemingly buried Dalton Kincaid as the once-coveted tight end found himself coming off the board in many fantasy drafts around pick 113, or somewhere in the 10th round.

Thanks to a four-catch, 48-yard performance in Week 1 that included a touchdown reception, Kincaid appears as though he could be a top 10 fantasy option once again, and this week's matchup against the Jets presents the possibility to make that one step closer to reality.
Last week, the Jets allowed the duo of Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith to combine for eight receptions, 48 yards, and a touchdown, propelling the Steelers' tight ends to 18.3 fantasy points. There are still some red flags and obstacles in Kincaid's path to returning as a bona fide fantasy starter, including the fact that Dawson Knox's 61% snap share was 11% higher than that of Kincaid.
If nothing else, a solid performance in a great spot this week could allow fantasy managers to maximize their return on investment.
Hunter Henry - TE, New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins
Last Week, Tyler Warren had a coming-out party at the expense of the Miami Dolphins and that depleted defense. After one week, Miami is yielding the sixth-most fantasy points (17.90) to the tight end position, a substantial increase on their 2024 total of 11.24 per contest.
If you are looking for a dark-horse tight end to finish as the TE1 for Week 2, look no further than New England's Hunter Henry. Against the Las Vegas Raiders, Henry earned a target share of 17.4%, a first-read target share of 21%, and a Patriots air yards share of 32.1%. For those asking, Henry accounted for 117 air yards in that contest.
Digging a little deeper into Henry's metrics, the Patriots tight end's average depth of target was an impressive 14.6 yards, while his yards per reception were an astonishing 16.5 on the 37 route he ran. That's the recipe for success at the tight end position.
Dating back to last season, Hunter has been one of Drake Maye's most trusted targets, averaging 49.9 receiving yards per game and a 19.2% target share in Maye's starts. People often lie, but the numbers seldom do, and every number I look at as it pertains to Henry versus Miami leads me to believe more and more that he can be a difference maker in your fantasy lineups this week.
Week 2 Potential Fantasy Football Busts
Tyler Warren - TE, Indianapolis Colts vs. Denver Broncos
This take may be controversial after Warren's fantasy debut resulted in a top-5 fantasy finish among his peers. If you desire to fade the fade here, you would be just considering Warren's 14.9 fantasy points last week that were a result of seven receptions on nine targets for 76 yards.
While Warren saw a 31% target share from Daniel Jones, who is well known to pepper his slot targets, this week's matchup won't be nearly as favourable; in fact, it may be even a little hazardous to Warren's fantasy success. Considering Warren's skill set, Denver could choose to have Patrick Surtain II line up against Warren at times, and with Surtain's six-foot-two, 200-pound frame, he could very easily neutralize Warren in the Colts' passing game.
Warren ran 39.1% of his routes from the slot and 8.7% out wide.
Warren is definitely more of a challenge for this Broncos defense than the one they faced last week in Chig Okonkwo, who was held to three catches for 19 yards. Still, it is worth noting Denver allowed just 10.35 fantasy points per game to the position last season, and that's after facing Travis Kelce and Brock Bowers twice a year.
Travis Kelce - TE, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Was it just me, or did Travis Kelce look like he was still a little off when the Chiefs faced the Chargers last week? While Kelce had 47 yards receiving, a touchdown, and 12.7 fantasy points, he accomplished that production by only seeing four targets and reeling in two. While Teair Tart was out there slapping Kelce around, it feels like a slap in the face to start Kelce this week against the Eagles.
The last time Kelce faced the Eagles, back in Super Bowl LIX, Kelce caught four of six targets for just 39 yards, becoming a non-factor in that contest. Philadelphia has picked up where it left off last season when defending the tight end position. In 2024, Philadelphia limited opposing tight ends to 591 receiving yards and a league-low 6.81 fantasy points per game.
In Week 1, Jake Ferguson caught five passes, but they resulted in an unproductive 23 receiving yards.
Kelce has produced just one 100-yard receiving performance over his last 12 contests and has just two games with more than 50 receiving yards over his previous eight contests.

Juwan Johnson - TE, New Orleans Saints vs. San Francisco 49ers
Juwan Johnson enters Week 2 on a heater after catching eight passes for 76 yards, finishing with 15.6 fantasy points. Johnson's utilization was and will be elite as long as Foster Moreau and Taysom Hill remain sidelined. In Week 1, Johnson played 98.7% of the Saints' snaps, earning a 245 target share, lining up in the slot for 34 of the 74 snaps he was on the field for.
Looking back, last week's contest is an outlier. In 2024, Johnson had just one game with 15 or more fantasy points and failed to reach double-digit fantasy production in 12 contests.
I'm all for giving credit where credit is due, but let's bring that energy to the defensive side of the ball, where the 49ers are currently allowing just 2.90 fantasy points per game. Ok, it was one game, and it was the Seahawks who depth chart reads AJ Barner, Elijah Arroyo, and Eric Saubert.
If we look at what San Francisco did in 2024, Johnson's inclusion is more justifiable, as the 49ers held opposing tight ends to 10.14 fantasy points per game, the ninth-fewest.
