League sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the Philadelphia Eagles "made a strong push" to trade for All-Pro pass-rusher Micah Parsons, who was eventually traded from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers. Understandably, the Cowboys had no interest in trading the two-time All-Pro within their division, especially to the rival Eagles. After trading two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark to Dallas for Parsons, the Packers locked him up with a record-breaking four-year, $188 million deal, which includes $120 million fully guaranteed and $136 million in total guarantees. The Eagles adding Parsons would have made an already stout defense that led the league in total defense in 2024 that much stronger. With the addition of Parsons, the Packers quickly have become a legitimate Super Bowl contender.--Keith Hernandez

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (foot) returned to practice on Thursday, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. It's unclear if Reed was limited or a full participant, but the fact that he's on the field at all is good news for his chances of playing in the Week 1 season opener this Sunday against the division-rival Detroit Lions. The 25-year-old is working his way through a Jones fracture in his left foot and was listed as a DNP on the first injury report of the year. With all that said, even if Reed is able to suit up this weekend, there's a chance he'll be somewhat limited if he's still not 100 percent. Already a boom/bust fantasy wideout, especially after the addition of first-round rookie Matthew Golden, Reed would be a shaky WR4/flex starting fantasy option against Detroit. It's most likely that Reed will end up listed as limited on Thursday's final report. UPDATE: Reed was officially limited on Thursday.--Keith Hernandez

Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden has done nothing but impress since the team selected him in the first round out of Texas in April. "Phenomenal," one team source said of Golden's presence. "Makes a wow play every day." The 22-year-old is already listed as a starter on Green Bay's depth chart, and the Packers "aren't hiding their affection for him." Although the Packers will use plenty of two-tight end sets, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler writes that Golden's "talent looks undeniable." With Jayden Reed (foot) up in the air to play in Week 1 against the division-rival Detroit Lions this Sunday, Golden could be a big part of Green Bay's passing attack right away, putting him in the WR3/flex conversation immediately in fantasy. Dontayvion Wicks and Savion Williams have also been banged up, giving Golden a clear path to opportunity.--Keith Hernandez

Green Bay Packers running back Emanuel Wilson has officially been named the team's backup option to open 2025, ahead of teammates Chris Brooks and the injured MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring). Wilson was the Pack's second-leading rusher in 2024 (502 yards), appearing in all 17 games during his second professional season. The 26-year-old flashed as he spelled starter Josh Jacobs, and has rushed for over 4.87 yards per carry in each of his first two campaigns. His upside (and floor) will be limited while Jacobs has a stranglehold on the lead job, but at least for the early part of this year, he'll be the handcuff to own. This situation could become more fluid when Lloyd returns following the first four games, but Wilson will get a chance to run away with the second-string job while he's shelved, and is capable enough to do so.--Alex Ciulla

Green Bay Packers wide receivers Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (hamstring) were both listed as limited practice participants on the team's first injury report of the year. Meanwhile, Jayden Reed, who is dealing with a Jones fracture in his foot, was a DNP. Wicks injured his calf in late July and missed most of training camp and all of the preseason. However, the 24-year-old returned to the field last week and has a good shot of suiting up in Week 1 against the division-rival Detroit Lions on Sunday, as does Williams. Even if Reed is unable to play this weekend, Wicks would likely be the fourth-best target for quarterback Jordan Love behind rookie first-rounder Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs and tight end Tucker Kraft, making him avoidable in starting fantasy lineups. Wicks is only rostered in 1% of Yahoo leagues.--Keith Hernandez

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (thumb) is not on the Week 1 injury report and got in a full practice on Wednesday, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN. Love had surgery to fix a ligament in his left (non-throwing) thumb early in the preseason, but he was back to full practice last week and is fully expected to start in the Week 1 divisional clash against the Detroit Lions this Sunday. The 26-year-old could be wearing a brace on his left thumb on game day, but he said it hasn't limited him at all on hand-offs to the running backs. Love will be active this weekend, but it will be a dicey matchup against pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson and Company, and he could be without one of his top receivers in Jayden Reed (foot). He's on the QB1/2 borderline for the first game of the 2025 season.--Keith Hernandez

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (foot) is the only player on the roster who is not practicing on Wednesday, according to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Reed had taken part in the past few practices after returning from a foot injury that had him in a walking boot during training camp, but he was seen standing on the sideline on Wednesday. He told Wood last week that his availability for the Week 1 season opener on Sunday against the division-rival Detroit Lions was uncertain. The 25-year-old is dealing with a Jones fracture in his left foot and is trending as a very risky starting lineup option right now for fantasy managers in Week 1. Reed is going to need to get back on the practice field later this week to have a chance of suiting up. If he's available against Detroit, he will be an even more boom/bust WR4/flex.--Keith Hernandez

Green Bay Packers All-Pro pass-rusher Micah Parsons (back) is not a lock to play in the Week 1 regular-season opener this Sunday versus the division-rival Detroit Lions. "We'll see. He's doing everything in his power. Got to get through a couple practices to see how he responds, but certainly hopeful," head coach Matt LaFleur said. The 26-year-old was recently traded to the Packers from the Cowboys, but he's also working through a joint sprain in his back that could require an epidural injection for him to suit up this weekend. Fantasy managers in IDP formats will need to keep a close eye on his status heading into Sunday's game and have a backup plan at the ready. And if Parsons is active against Detroit, it may not be the worst idea to sit him anyway, as he could be on a limited snap count in his first game with Green Bay. UPDATE: Parsons was officially limited in practice on Wednesday.--Keith Hernandez

Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden is listed as a starter on the team's depth chart, according to Zach Jacobson of 247 Sports. Golden was selected in the opening round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Texas. Throughout camp, Golden has received positive buzz and has already begun to establish a strong connection with quarterback Jordan Love. In addition, wide receivers Jayden Reed (foot) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf) have been dealing with lingering injuries, which have provided Golden ample opportunities with the starting lineup. Golden appears to have impressed the coaching staff enough to earn a spot with the first team. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Reed's and Wicks's status leading up to Week 1. If either wideout is unable to play, Golden could be in store for a massive target share in their season opener against the Detroit Lions.--Andy Smith

Green Bay Packers All-Pro pass-rusher Micah Parsons (back) has been practicing this week as he attempts to play in the Week 1 regular-season opener against the division-rival Detroit Lions this Sunday, but one source said it's still uncertain if he'll be active. Parsons has been dealing with an L4/L5 facet-joint sprain in his back and might need an epidural injection before Sunday's game to help him play. Before the Cowboys traded him last week, they prescribed him a five-day plan of an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid -- a prednisone to help him recover from his back tightness. Dallas also had him on a physical-therapy program. Parsons is still a high-end pass-rusher in IDP fantasy formats, but managers might need a backup plan going into Week 1 of the regular season. It's also possible that Parsons doesn't see his normal number of snaps if he makes his Packers debut this weekend.--Keith Hernandez

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is still wearing a brace on his surgically-repaired left thumb, and he may continue to wear the brace as the regular season gets underway. "It'll be some weeks having to brace it up and just keep it protected," Love told ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "We'll play it by ear as I start getting into games and seeing how it feels, as you get back to live contact. But there'll be some time having that brace still." It's fair to assume that the brace may have a slight impact on Love's play, but the quarterback doesn't seem to have any concerns about how it will factor into his productivity. He's looking to shake off the struggles of last season, when he was dealing with nagging injuries and mustered a 63.1 percent completion rate while totaling 3,389 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. The former first-round pick currently owns a fantasy ADP of 114, which makes him the 17th quarterback off the board. His price tag loosely aligns with RotoBaller's expert draft rankings, which have Love listed as the overall QB19.--Andersen Pickard

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Savion Williams has suffered various injuries throughout his first professional training camp and missed all three preseason games. The Green Bay coaching staff had gadget plays in mind for the third-round speedster, but he has been unable to stay on the field. The Packers have a crowded wide receiver room, even with injuries to Jayden Reed (foot) and Christian Watson (knee). If Reed, who is questionable, misses Week 1, Williams still has first-round pick Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, and Malik Heath to compete with for snaps. Williams may have a play designed for him here and there, but it won't be consistent enough volume for redraft fantasy managers to spend a roster spot on him.--Andrew Ball

Per Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst, he and the team are hopeful that edge rusher Micah Parsons can play "at least a little" in their Week 1 matchup with the visiting Detroit Lions. Gutekunst also noted that it's on the Packers to "be smart" with the 26-year-old. The Penn State product underwent his physical on Friday. Whether Gutekunst's comments are regarding Parsons' unfamiliarity with the team or the minor back issue he's been dealing with this offseason is uncertain. The latter hasn't been deemed serious, but with their home opener just over a week away, there isn't much time for any lingering issues to heal. Fantasy managers can likely expect him to be a full go by Week 2 at the latest. In the meantime, his status is worth monitoring.--Alex Ciulla

Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden had a "tremendous camp," according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic. Additionally, Howe writes that it "might not be all that shocking if (Golden) quickly becomes quarterback Jordan Love's go-to wide receiver." Golden may see even more opportunities early in 2025 with fellow Packers wideouts Christian Watson (knee) starting the year on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list and Jayden Reed (foot) battling a Jones fracture in his left foot. Golden is the first wide receiver the Packers have selected in the first round since 2002, so the organization clearly believes in his talent. The 22-year-old profiles as a high-upside WR3/4 in redraft fantasy leagues.--Will Brady

The Green Bay Packers signed former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Clayton Tune to their practice squad on Thursday, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Tune became available to all NFL teams when the Cardinals cut him earlier this week. The 26-year-old will now head to the NFC North, where he'll serve as QB depth for the Packers behind starter Jordan Love and backup Malik Willis. In three preseason games for the Cardinals before being cut, Tune went 30-for-49 passing for 186 yards, one touchdown and an interception while rushing nine times for 53 yards. The former fifth-rounder (139th overall) in 2023 out of Houston has thrown for just 70 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in 13 games (one start) in his first two NFL seasons.--Keith Hernandez
