SMU's Ahmaad Moses Expected to Be Out for Week 2 vs. UC Davis
Coming off a thrilling 27-24 win over Florida State in the team's season opener, No. 17 SMU is once again likely to be without one of its top defenders entering a Week 2 tilt against UC Davis. Ahmaad Moses is not expected to play in Saturday's game in Dallas, per On3's Pete Nakos, as the Mustangs' first-team All-ACC safety appears set to miss his second straight game to begin the year. Moses has been a stalwart for SMU each of the last two seasons, a stretch in which he has recorded 8 interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns, along with nine passes defensed. He led the team in tackles in 2025 with 104 total stops, along with a sack and 5.5 tackles for loss. SMU will take on a UC Davis team that has begun the season at 2-0 behind a solid effort put forth by quarterback Treynor Cleeland, who is coming off a five-touchdown performance during a 49-17 win over San Diego in Week 1.
