Trae Young OVER 29.5 Points – Before we talk about Trae Young, let’s talk about the Cavaliers defense that has gone from great to terrible in a matter of one significant injury. Despite all the talk around Evan Mobley’s Rookie of the Year case, assuming Cleveland’s rock-solid defensive presence came from a rookie big man is arguably laughable, and categorizing the games played between Jarrett Allen’s injury and after, the results are obvious. Granted, Mobley is one of the few rookies that seems to have the motivation and effort possible to even play defense, but it’s time we look at effectiveness, not just effort. You could use about 30 different metrics here to prove the difference in an Allen-led defense compared to a Mobley-led one, but if you’re technically leading the defense and Isaac Okoro and Kevin Love are outplaying you on both ends of the ball, that’s an absolutely horrible sign. Trae Young (also) needs 12 assists to hit his over tonight and the way things are looking, most people are going to fear this Cavaliers defense because of stats, ignoring the fact that there isn’t a notable defender on this team when Allen can’t play. That’s also ignoring the aspect that Cleveland needs to focus their defense on the Young-to-Clint Capela connection first and foremost, which is a nearly impossible task without a decent 7-footer.

Brandon Ingram OVER 23.5 Points – Playing well against the Spurs wouldn’t normally constitute someone betting on that player, but San Antonio’s defense last game was actually impressive, the Pelicans were just simply better. Ingram is the go-to guy on this team, 100%. New Orleans would prefer him to be the one finishing around the rim and every Pelicans player and fans know the true volatility of Ingram once he gets rolling. He was one of three Pelicans to score 20+ points, and one of five to score in double-digits, not to mention he had the highest usage despite C.J. McCollum being the one dictating the pace of the offense for most of the game. McCollum might be playing the point guard role, but his selflessness makes it easy for Ingram to have considerable upside every night. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that if Ingram doesn’t score, there’s not much the rest of the Pelicans can do to make up for that lack. Even against a stingier defense, that won’t change how involved Ingram will inevitably be.

Danilo Gallinari OVER 14.5 Points – There is still news coming out surrounding the Hawks’ availability, so there is always room for this to change. However, when Atlanta doesn’t have options and the pool is growing slimmer every minute, the players with a pre-set reputation of scoring are going to be relied upon heavily. Atlanta crushed the Hornets and Gallinari poured-in 18 points on 12 shots. Both those numbers should increase with news of Bogdan Bogdanovic potentially being out next game. Bogdanovic played 24 minutes, taking nine shots and hitting three threes, so if there’s any doubt around his availability, the starters should assume responsibility and take an even bigger share of shots. More directly, the Hawks have viable options with their backup backcourt options Delon Wright and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, but the more both of those players play, the more you can assume the other Hawks players will be the ones producing on offense.
