FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (10/11/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Nate Duffett's top NHL DFS lineup picks on FanDuel, DraftKings for 10/11/19. Expert daily fantasy hockey advice, sleepers & player recommendations.

The Friday slate features only three games, with Florida visiting Buffalo, Anaheim visiting Columbus, and the New York Islanders visiting Carolina.

The Buffalo Sabres are among the top teams in the league in goals per game, averaging 4.5 over their first four games. In comparison, the Florida Panthers have been allowing an average of four goals per game. The Carolina Hurricanes have also been a high-scoring team on their 4-0 run to start the season, averaging four goals a game.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 10/11/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @Roto_Nate. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Victor Olofsson - W, BUF vs FLA (FD - $6,400, DK - $6,800)

Olofsson has been on fire in his rookie season, finding instant chemistry with his linemate Jack Eichel at both even-strength and on the powerplay. He has five points on so far this season, including four goals, all of which have come on the powerplay. The Panthers have averaged around four penalties per game so far this season, so Olofsson should have plenty of opportunities to add to his goal totals. As mentioned above, the Panthers have been a defensive mess in their first three games, allowing four goals per game.

Ryan Getzlaf - C, ANA vs CBJ  (FD - $6,300, DK - $4,900)

Speaking of defensive messes, the Columbus Blue Jackets have allowed 4.67 goals per game through their first three contests, feeling the effects from the departure of their old starting goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. Until Joonas Korpisalo and Elvis Merzlikinss can start stopping some pucks, I will be looking to have at least one line stack from their opponent. With rookie center Sam Steel missing some time with an injury, Getzlaf will be the main source of offense for the Ducks.

Also, Consider:

  • Stacking Jack Eichel with Olofsson will give you Buffalo's main powerplay connection. Eichel will still be riding high from his four-point night on Wednesday.
  • The Islanders are a hard team to roster forwards against due to their stingy defense, but the Carolina Hurricanes are averaging four goals a game so far this season. Andrei Svechnikov has six assists, Teuvo Teravainen has points in all four games, and Jordan Staal has three points over his last two games.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Rasmus Dahlin - D, BUF vs SJS (FD - $6,300, DK - $5,900)

For the second straight year, the Buffalo Sabres are looking like an elite team to start the season. If it follows the same script as last year, it won't last long, but we can take advantage of it with our DFS lineups for as long as possible. Dahlin is showing this season why he was the first overall pick in the 2018 draft, tallying seven points over his first four games. Add Dahlin into your Olofsson-Eichel stack, and you could have the highest-scoring combo of the night.

Dougie Hamilton - D, CAR vs NYI (FD - $5,500, DK - $6,300)

Hamilton has been a huge part of the Hurricanes averaging four goals a game, stepping up his offensive game on the backend. He now has five points over his first four games and is averaging the most fantasy points per game on the entire slate. The Hurricanes took a huge hit to their offensive game after trading away Justin Faulk, but Hamilton has taken over the reins as their number-one puck-mover so far.

Also, Consider:

  • Jaccob Slavin has also been a pillar on the Hurricanes defense, tallying three points in four games. He could be a lower-owned option compared to the more well-known Hamilton.
  • Noah Dobson will be the defenseman of the future for the Islanders, he is a solid puck-mover and won't be priced at $3,500 for much longer. On bigger slates, he would be a great value play, but on a smaller slate, we might not need a player that is priced this low.

DFS Goalie to Consider

John Gibson - G, ANA vs CBJ (FD - $8,700, DK - $7,500)

This pick would be pretty self-explanatory, as Gibson comes into this game with a 1.00 GAA and 3-0 record. Gibson comes out of the gate firing every year before his body usually gets worn down, and facing a team in the Blue Jackets who are only averaging 2.7 goals a game makes him easily the top play on the slate. My biggest concern would be that he sits out tonight's game, but having a break until Monday could give Gibson the reins once again.

Also, Consider:

  • The Islanders have also struggled to score goals this season, James Reimer or Petr Mrazek could also be solid options, while I would be more likely to roster Reimer due to recent performance if he gets the start.
