Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 16:

George Pickens, WR, Dallas Cowboys

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton has been a healthy start for fantasy managers since the Week 12 bye and will host the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16. The Jaguars' defense currently ranks first in average rushing yards per game allowed with 86.3 and 20th in average passing yards allowed with 222.2.

With this in mind, it's likely that the passing attack remains a focal point of the Broncos' offense in Week 16 as they look to build off of the tremendous outing that quarterback Bo Nix had in Week 15. This could bode well for Sutton's production against the Jaguars, and RotoBaller's rankings reflect that as the WR14 overall for Week 16.

Quentin Johnston, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Tre' Harris (hip) is off the injury report and is ready for a Week 16 clash with the Dallas Cowboys. Harris took full advantage of Quentin Johnston's (groin) absence last week, recording a season-high 85% snap share and sparking the offense with a 37-yard reception that led to a Bolts' touchdown. This week, he faces a Dallas Cowboys secondary that ranks last in passing yards and touchdowns allowed.

While Harris' volume is tied to Johnston's availability, his big-play ability and high snap share make him an intriguing deep-league flex or DFS punt with upside. RotoBaller ranks him as the WR65, but the matchup offers a higher ceiling than the ranking suggests. He is a low-end WR4/5 with sneaky upside if Johnston is ruled out.

Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr. has been playing a significant role in this offense since returning from injury in Week 12. Godwin was limited during his first game back, but has seen steady involvement since then. Over the last three games, Godwin has seen five or more targets with 55 receiving yards or more in two of those contests. Last week, Godwin was held to 20 yards, but salvaged his fantasy value with a touchdown during the loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

The return of Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan could impact Godwin's target share going forward. It doesn't appear to be impacting his playing time with Godwin seeing 96 percent of the offensive snaps last week. He's a viable option in the slot and has good chemistry with quarterback Baker Mayfield. Godwin should be able to offer WR3 value against a middle-of-the-road defense in the Carolina Panthers this weekend.

Justin Jefferson, WR, Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson has been in an awful slump over the last few weeks. In the previous three games, Jefferson has been held to six receptions for 37 yards and hasn't scored a touchdown during that span. The 26-year-old clearly isn't on the same page as quarterback J.J. McCarthy right now. The upside is too high for fantasy managers to keep Jefferson on the bench this weekend. He has a favorable matchup against the New York Giants in Week 16.

A secondary that has allowed the fifth-most yards to wideouts this season. The duds aren't due to a lack of ability, but because of inconsistent quarterback play. Despite the rough stretch, Jefferson comes in as RotoBaller's WR22 in the latest rankings and will try to break out of his slump in a plus matchup vs. the Giants in Week 16.

Chuba Hubbard, RB, Carolina Panthers

Chuba Hubbard posted underwhelming numbers in Week 15 against the Saints. The Carolina RB had eight carries for 29 yards. He also added nine receiving yards on one reception to total just 4.8 PPR points. Hubbard has registered less than 5.0 PPR points in three of his last five games. The Panthers will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 16. Tampa Bay ranks 23rd in Fantasy Points Per Game allowed to the RB position this year.

Although Hubbard has a good matchup this week, he has not seen enough consistent volume to warrant a roster spot on most fantasy playoff teams. Outside of Week 13, Hubbard has not posted double-digit rushing attempts since Week 8. He should only be rostered as a handcuff to Rico Dowdle.
