Week 13 Fantasy Football Running Back Outlooks

Chris Rodriguez Jr., Washington Commanders

Washington Commanders running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. (illness) missed Wednesday's practice due to an illness, according to The Washington Post's Nicki Jhabvala. Rodriguez's status for the Sunday night primetime game against the visiting Denver Broncos in Week 13 is worth monitoring, but the 25-year-old should be cleared by then.

In recent weeks, C-Rod has taken over early-down duties in Washington's backfield from struggling rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt, while Jeremy McNichols continues to be the team's primary pass-catching back. Rodriguez should be good to go against Denver, but his fantasy stock is trending down this week in a bad matchup with backup quarterback Marcus Mariota set to make another start. The Broncos' strong defense has allowed the third-fewest rushing yards per game (88.5) in 2025.

Trey Benson, Arizona Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals running back Trey Benson (knee), who is still on Injured Reserve, was limited in the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday, according to Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com. Benson returned to practice last Wednesday for the first time since undergoing surgery earlier this year on his meniscus. The 23-year-old has now put in four straight limited practices. He might need to upgrade to a full practice this week to be activated from the IR before Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Bam Knight continues to be limited in practice with a knee injury, but he should be fine to play this weekend. If Benson is held out for another game, Knight figures to continue in the lead-back role with Emari Demercado still dealing with an ankle sprain. If Benson is cleared to play against Tampa, his snaps may be capped in his first game back since Week 4.

Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder) is on track to return from a lengthy absence in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday after putting in a full practice on Wednesday, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. Irving has not played since Week 4 due to a subluxation of his shoulder and a foot sprain, but all signs are pointing to him being active this weekend in Week 13 in a plus matchup. Irving's fantasy managers have to be stoked that he's finally returning, but the Bucs fully plan to ease him back into their backfield, which will make him extremely volatile in his first game back.

The 23-year-old was Tampa's clear lead back before his injuries, carrying the ball 71 times for 237 yards and no touchdowns while adding 193 receiving yards and two TDs. Irving will have a key role down the stretch, but he might have to share work more with Sean Tucker and Rachaad White than he did to begin the 2025 season.

Josh Jacobs, Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (knee) has no injury designation for Thursday's divisional clash against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving and is good to go, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Jacobs was held out of the Week 12 win over the Minnesota Vikings after suffering a minor knee contusion in the Week 11 win over the New York Giants. The 27-year-old star RB is back after a one-game absence and will be looking to start a new touchdown streak.

He has 11 rushing touchdowns in 10 games played this year and entered Week 11 with touchdowns in six straight games before injuring his knee. In the Week 1 win over Detroit, Jacobs had 19 carries for 66 yards and one touchdown. Even though backup Emanuel Wilson had over 100 rushing yards and two scores last week, all signs point to Jacobs returning to his workhorse role in Detroit.
