Happy Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 4, RotoBallers! The first of three international breaks before Christmas has concluded, and we dive right back into the thick of the Premier League schedule. FPL managers also need to be aware of European fixtures starting next midweek, where eight teams start their grueling twice-a-week schedule.

The Gameweek 3 deadline for the 2025-26 Fantasy Premier League season is Saturday, September 13, at 6:00 a.m. ET, when Arsenal welcomes Nottingham Forest. Check out the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every EPL and UCL slate with our EPL DFS lineup picks and betting picks.

How to Play Fantasy Premier League Guide

Whether it's your first, second, or 20th season playing Fantasy Premier League, don't miss our 'How to Play Fantasy Premier League' Guide for the 2025-26 season. It covers squad building, transfers, and all the new strategies coming to this great game for the upcoming campaign.

Best Captains for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 4

Each gameweek, Euan, Jamie, and Wale will provide their best Captaincy pick for the upcoming gameweek in the 2025-26 Fantasy Premier League season.

Wale (The FPL Manual): I had Mohamed Salah on my mind for the captain's armband, but his recent xG numbers are disappointing, as he ranks 87th on the expected goals table.

Thus, I think I'll be backing Viktor Gyökeres this week. Arsenal is hosting Nottingham Forest, which recently parted ways with its manager, Nuno Espírito Santo. It should be a good encounter for the Swedish forward to improve his goal-scoring form at the Emirates Stadium.

Jamie: Erling Haaland seems like an obvious choice. He faces Manchester United this weekend, and although City's attack hasn't really clicked into gear yet, neither has United's defense. The Red Devils conceded two at Grimsby Town and two at home to Burnley before the international break.

Haaland has six goals and three assists in his five league games against United, and even though he doesn't get to target Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir, I expect Haaland to find the net this weekend.

Euan: I've been riding with Erling Haaland for the first three gameweeks of the campaign, but I'm switching over to the greatest FPL asset of all time in Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian scored one goal (with another controversially disallowed) during the international break, and faces the newly-promoted Burnley on the road.

It's a little scary to leave Haaland after he scored five goals for Norway against Moldova. Still, I'm backing the Liverpool man to get the job done over the next couple of weeks, first against Burnley and subsequently Everton, with 90 minutes and penalties.

Differential Captains for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 4

Everyone loves to get a little different with the Captaincy picks once in a while. Every matchweek, our FPL analysts provide their favorite outside shots for a huge haul.

Wale: Where Mo Salah has gone quiet, Cody GGakpo's numbers have improved. The Dutchman has amassed 20 points in the opening three matches this season and has also continued this form on the international stage. I can see Gakpo pulling up a massive return next weekend, and he will be an alternate captain option I love to consider.

Jamie: Florian Wirtz has failed to match expectations this season. The third most transferred out player this season, but gets a juicy matchup this week, against Burnley, to kick-start his Liverpool career.

The German international scored a free kick for his nation at the weekend, and that might be a catalyst for Wirtz to open his EPL account. Although Burnley kept a clean sheet in their one home game this season, that was against a fellow newly promoted side in Sunderland.

The Clarets conceded three against Tottenham Hotspur and three against Manchester United. It shouldn't come as a surprise if they concede another three goals this weekend, offering Wirtz an ideal chance for a solid points haul.

Euan: Despite the departure of Eberechi Eze and the injury to Ismaila Sarr, I'm backing Jean-Philippe Mateta to rack up FPL points against Sunderland. The Black Cats have proven they are not to be messed with at home, but they lost their first away fixture 2-0 to Burnley this season.

Mateta is locked in as Palace's penalty taker and will be the tip of the spear for the Eagles. With Palace's European campaign not kicking off until October, we don't have to worry about rotation potential like the teams in the Champions League and Europa League.

Low-Picked Players for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 4

Going with the herd can sometimes get boring. From Gameweek 1 to Gameweek 38, Wale, Jamie, and Euan will reveal their favorite FPL player, picked in fewer than 5 percent of Fantasy Premier League teams.

Wale: My differential pick of the week is Newcastle's latest signing, Yoane Wissa. The former Brentford striker was notorious for his goal-scoring form at home at the Gtech Community Stadium. If given his debut against Wolves, I believe Wissa will help the Geordies find the finishing touch that they have been lacking.

Jamie: Yoane Wissa finally secured his move to Newcastle United at the transfer deadline. After sitting out Brentford's opening three games of the season, Wissa is a forgotten man in FPL (1.3% rostered).

There are doubts about whether he'll start this weekend for his new team, but Newcastle is bereft of options and likely won't want to throw fellow new signing Nick Woltemade into the deep end.

Newcastle will be desperate to secure their first league win and have the ideal matchup against Wolves to achieve it. Wolves have conceded eight goals in their three EPL fixtures, and that number should increase this week. Wissa makes a significant differential.

Euan: Over the last two seasons, Lucas Paqueta has been involved in some off-the-field issues. Those have subsided (for now), and it appears to be doing the West Ham midfielder a world of good. In Gameweeks 2 and 3, the Brazilian accumulated 19 points with two goals, 26 DefCons, and two bonus points.

Paqueta sits in 2.4 percent of FPL teams and is only £5.9m at the time of writing. In theory, he's a Bruno Fernandes-lite FPL asset that is on penalties and could be the talisman for a mid-table club. I'm looking to bring him in for Gameweek 4 and beyond.
