Lamine Yamal - Barcelona FC -lineup-picks-daily-fantasy-soccer-fanduel-draftkings-icon

Adewale (TheFPLManual) shares insights on the best fantasy tips and players to target for Matchday 2 in the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League season

Hello, RotoBallers! Welcome to another thrilling week in the Champions League. Matchday 1 was a delight, with Erling Haaland scoring his 50th UCL goal in only 49 appearances and Marcus Rashford scoring a screamer at St. James' Park. We return for more action this midweek, and we are looking forward to more fantasy points.

This week's top matchups include Galatasaray SK vs. Liverpool and FC Barcelona vs. Paris Saint-Germain, all of which promise to keep us entertained this midweek. Our job here is to help recommend the best tips to consider for your UCL Fantasy team each week.

The Matchday 2 deadline for the 2025-26 Champions League fantasy season is Tuesday, September 30, at 12:45 p.m. ET, when FC Kairat Almaty hosts Real Madrid and Club Brugge travels to Italy to face Atalanta B.C. Champions League Fantasy: Best Matchday 2 Tips

Time to Invest in Arsenal and Bayern Assets

The Gunners have been in top-tier form this season, scoring 10 goals and conceding two, and are now unbeaten in their past five matches across all competitions.

Gabriel Magalhães's last-minute header at St. James Park over the weekend made it Arsenal's 36th goal scored from attacking corners in the past three seasons in the Premier League. The "Corner Kings" are back in the Champions League and have a favorable home tie to Greek champions, Olympiacos.

It's no surprise that their defenders are competing for goals with summer signing Viktor Gyökeres. Still, I'm sure the Swedish international will be looking forward to scoring his first Champions League goal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday. Arsenal is the top team of the week for Matchday 2.

The 2024-25 Bundesliga champions return to our menu this week. Bayern Munich is the only European team that has won all of its games in all competitions, and it will face UCL debutants Pafos in what could likely end in a 5-0 win on its visit to Cyprus.

A potential triple up on Bayern Munich assets is hugely recommended this week.

According to market data goal projections, each club is expected to produce 3.10 xG and 2.75 xG (expected goals) against their opponents this weekend. In defense, Bayern Munich is favored with a 63% likelihood of keeping a clean sheet, implying we could consider a possible double-up on their defense.

Recommended assets for Matchday 2

  • Arsenal: Viktor Gyökeres, Declan Rice, and Gabriel Magalhães
  • FC Bayern Munich: Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Sacha Boey

Other teams to target this week include SSC Napoli (vs. Sporting CP), Inter (vs. Slavia Praha), Chelsea (vs. SL Benfica), and Borussia Dortmund (vs. Athletic Bilbao), all of which have favorable home matchups. The Blues will be delighted to welcome former manager Jose Mourinho, dubbed "The Special One," back to Stamford Bridge as they push for their first Champions League victory.

Matchday 2 Top Captain Picks

The midweek fixtures present a list of fascinating options for your captaincy choice. Players like Kylian Mbappe against FC Kairat Almaty, Marcus Rashford against Paris Saint-Germain, and Serhou Guirassy against Athletic Bilbao all present strong cases. However, our top two captain picks across Matchday 2 are:

Harry Kane (€10.5m) - FC Bayern Munich at Pafos

Setting up a goal record of 100 goals scored in 104 appearances for Bayern Munich. Harry Kane, the Centurion, has cemented his name in the history books as one of the best in the world. The England international has now produced 13 goal contributions (10 goals and three assists) in the Bundesliga, and it's still only September this season.

Facing off against Pafos next, Harry Kane is our RotoBaller captain of the week, and we back him to likely score a hat trick within the hour mark this Tuesday.

Lamine Yamal (€10.0m) - FC Barcelona vs. Paris Saint-Germain

With Raphinha expected to be out for three weeks, Barcelona will be relieved to have their top player, Lamine Yamal, back in the starting lineup, as they now fancy their chances against last year's UCL champions, Paris Saint-Germain.

The 18-year-old has already made five attacking returns in only four La Liga appearances and has made himself an appealing captain option for the Wednesday fixtures.

Matchday 2 Top Differential Captain (<10% ownership)

Julián Álvarez (€9.0m) - Atletico Madrid vs. Eintracht Frankfurt

Alvarez started the season slowly but has found his scoring touch in the last two games, scoring five goals against Rayo Vallecano and local rivals Real Madrid.

As of this writing, he is owned by only 3% of UCL fantasy managers in the game and appears to be a solid differential to consider against Frankfurt at the Metropolitano Stadium on Tuesday.

Good luck in making your Matchday 2 selections!
