Runs Scored (R) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Matt McLain, 2B/SS, Cincinnati Reds (40% rostered)
McLain came into the season with higher expectations given his return to health, but he has struggled some this season. He is hitting .212 with eight home runs, seven RBI, 25 RBI, and 27 runs scored.
Not bad overall, except for the batting average, but if you look at the aggregate, you are missing something important. McLain is hitting .389 in June, with three homers, five RBI, and five runs scored in a week. Don't give up on him yet; if you don't have him and need second base help, grab him now.
Sam Antonacci, 2B/3B/OF, Chicago White Sox (26% rostered)
Antonacci is the definition of a pest. The guy just finds ways to get on base; in fact, he leads baseball with a whopping 15 hit by pitches since his recall in mid-April. He's hitting .348 in June thus far, scoring six runs over the last week from the top of the White Sox order.
Antonacci will continue to score runs, hit for average, and steal bases, and he is assured of getting at-bats against right-handed pitching with three positions of eligibility. Gaze on his xwOBA since his recall. He won't hit for power, but can help in every other category.
Jake McCarthy, OF, Colorado Rockies (20% rostered)
I am still uncertain how good a hitter McCarthy is in real life, but he is helping fantasy teams all over with his current play. He is hitting .282 with four homers, 26 RBI, 11 stolen bases, and 22 runs scored in 55 games this season, while playing daily for the Rockies. He is outperforming the metrics, so let's just ride it while we can, and he remains productive, especially at Coors Field.
Home Runs (HR) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Colton Cowser, OF, Baltimore Orioles (16% rostered)
Coswer is barreling baseballs at a high rate and making the most of his unexpected playing time over the last month. He has three home runs over the last 10 days and has knocked in eight runs over that same span. Fantasy players are starting to catch on to Cowser.
Cowser's barrel rate for this season is shown below. He has a 13.8% barrel rate for his career, which is excellent, but it is literally off the charts right now. Cowser should continue with regular playing time, especially against right-handed pitching.
Spencer Jones, OF, New York Yankees (8% rostered)
Jones homered on Tuesday night, the first of his career, so this is a speculative pick for me. It looks like he is going to get some run in the decimated Yankees outfield. On this stretch so far, Jones is hitting .278 with a home run, five RBI, and a stolen base. Watch the strikeouts, but he could help you.
Dominic Canzone, OF, Seattle Mariners (7% rostered)
I wish Canzone played more, but he is productive no matter the situation. He launched his eighth homer on Saturday as part of a three-hit effort against Detroit. More importantly for us, Canzone has three homers in the last week. Strong-side platoon partner or not, he can hit.
HONORABLE MENTION:
Braden Montgomery, Chicago White Sox
Montgomery got two hits in his debut on Tuesday, including a walk-off two-run homer against the Atlanta Braves and ace closer Raisel Iglesias. He is sure to be a hot addition this week.
Runs Batted In (RBI) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Mauricio Dubon, 2B/3B/SS/OF, Atlanta Braves (39% rostered)
Dubon has been a godsend for the league-leading Braves. What a find! He is hitting .261 with six home runs, 37 RBI, a steal, and 28 runs scored. Eight of those RBI have come in the last week. Dubon is eligible at four positions and is producing no matter where he plays for Atlanta.
Kody Clemens, 1B/2B/OF, Minnesota Twins (8% rostered)
Clemens continues to make the most of his extended opportunity in Minnesota. He has slugged nine home runs while playing all over the field, and over the last two weeks, he has nine RBI.
Look at his Statcast info below. Clemens' success is not a fluke as he hits the ball hard. Considered a batting average drain earlier in his career, he is hitting 247 now. He also provides you with assistance and depth at three different positions. A good guy to add this week.
Blaze Alexander, 2B/3B/SS/OF, Baltimore Orioles (6% rostered)
Alexander was acquired at the end of Spring Training to be bench depth for the Orioles, but he has been a fixture in the lineup. And why not? He does a little bit of everything; he is hitting .284 with two home runs, 18 RBI, a helpful seven stolen bases, and 18 runs.
Alexander has four RBI in his last six starts. Consider him if you need capable help around the diamond and a guy who can help in multiple categories.
Stolen Bases (SB) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Noelvi Marte, 3B/OF, Cincinnati Reds (35% rostered)
This is a bit of a speculative play, as Marte has been recalled from Triple-A. Marte has three stolen bases in 16 games for the Reds this year, who are giving him a shot to nail down an outfield job right now. I am hopeful that with the playing time, he can be a boon in stolen bases.
A.J. Ewing, 2B/OF, New York Mets (19% rostered)
Many players are dropping Ewing, and I think they should exercise caution and hold him for now. Ewing has four stolen bases in the last 10 days, and he seems to be adapting to major league pitching; he is hitting .421 over the last week, and up to .270 on the year.
A small snippet below shows his speed, which will keep him in the lineup and engaged on the bases. Hold on to Ewing another week or add him if you want to speculate a bit; he has seven stolen bases in 26 games this season. He could be a sneaky play.
David Hamilton, 2B/3B/SS, Milwaukee Brewers (4% rostered)
Hamilton always seems to find playing time, and when he does, he always steals bases. He is only hitting .236, but has found his way in Milwaukee to daily at-bats at third base, and has rewarded the team with 14 stolen bases, four in the last 10 days.
Batting Average (AVG) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Jung Hoo Lee, OF, San Francisco Giants (39% rostered)
It seems like Lee gets three hits every night; over the course of the last two weeks, Lee has had four games with four hits in each. He had another four games with two hits. Lee is hitting .335 now on the season, including a ridiculous .587 in his last 11 games.
He's not going to help much with power and speed (three home runs and two stolen bases), but he has 32 runs and 24 RBI, so he is not just a batting average boost. He can singlehandedly boost your team's batting average right now.
Zack Gelof, 2B/3B/OF, Athletics (20% rostered)
Gelof is providing some punch in the Athletics' order right now, and he might be able to help you, too. He has been impressive, hitting .266 with eight homers, 23 RBI, and six stolen bases on the season. He is hitting .345 over the last two weeks. Grab him and ride the heat wave!
Tristan Peters, OF, Chicago White Sox (2% rostered)
Peters has been a welcome surprise to a White Sox team exceeding expectations. He has been a fixture in center field without much fanfare, but he has really turned it on at the plate in May and is continuing into June. Way under the radar, Peters is a quiet source of batting average help.
Happy hunting this week! Message me directly @mdrc0508 if you have specific questions or need to vent about your fantasy teams. I will help if I can! Good luck and most importantly, have fun with this hobby! Have a great week.
