When is Samuel Basallo getting called up? Will Basallo get promoted in June 2025? Read about this top fantasy baseball prospect outlook heading into Week 10.
The Baltimore Orioles signed catcher Samuel Basallo to a massive $1.3 million bonus back in January of 2021. Basallo was just 16 years old at the time and was a highly regarded international prospect out of the Dominican Republic.
Since then, the young catcher has slowly moved up the minor league ranks. He played his first two years in rookie ball before being promoted to Single-A during the 2023 season. Basallo is now tearing it up at Triple-A Norfolk and continues to showcase his potential.
So, when are the Orioles going to call up Basallo? Can we expect him to make his debut in June? Let's dive in and find out.

Samuel Basallo Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
It's not surprising that Basallo has put up solid numbers throughout his minor league career. He was a highly regarded prospect and has the tools to be an above-average hitter in the majors. Those hitting tools have certainly been on display for the left-handed slugger in recent years.
He hit .313 with 20 home runs, 86 RBI, and 12 stolen bases between Single-A, High-A, and Double-A in 2023 and followed up that campaign by hitting .278 with 19 home runs, 65 RBI, and 10 stolen bases across 127 games at Double-A and Triple-A last season. Unsurprisingly, Basallo continues to showcase that power in 2025.

MLB Pipeline's No. 16 overall prospect has hit 12 home runs in only 126 at-bats this season. Although his batting average sits at just .238 on the year, it's hard to ignore his power. Basallo has had multiple two-home run games in 2025, most recently on Tuesday against Triple-A Louisville.
Samuel Basallo Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
Even though Basallo is the youngest hitter currently in Triple-A, he is holding his own against some of the top pitchers. As a result, there is a strong chance that he will be promoted sometime in 2025. He continues to grow as a hitter, and the Orioles could definitely use his bat in their lineup in the coming months.
Now, fantasy managers shouldn't expect Basallo to be called up any time in June. He is still extremely young, and Baltimore isn't going to rush its top prospect. However, there is a path where he could be promoted sometime in August/September.

With that in mind, the catcher isn't necessarily a must-stash. We are still likely months away from his MLB debut, and it remains to be seen how this Orioles roster will look come the trade deadline. Still, he is someone fantasy managers should be watching closely because he has the hitting tools to succeed right away in the majors.
