Biggest Week 6 Busts: Fantasy Football Reactions for Nick Chubb, Aaron Jones, DK Metcalf, Mike Evans, Tyler Higbee

Nick Chubb - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

Several NFL players underwhelmed in Week 6 of the 2022 fantasy football season. Andersen identifies busts at each position and whether they'll bounce back.

The sixth NFL Sunday of the 2022 season has come and gone. Hopefully, you woke up on Monday morning feeling very good about how your week went. However, this week's slate of games was certainly stress-inducing for many fantasy football managers.

Part of that stress was caused by a group of players who drastically underachieved in Week 6. These players simply did not meet fantasy expectations, and it cost their managers in a big way. Let's take a look at the biggest busts from Week 6, as well as whether or not we can still have some trust in these players moving forward.

All point totals are based on the PPR scoring system.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Fantasy Football Quarterback Busts

Carson Wentz, 5.15 FPTS

Wentz disappointed this week, racking up just 99 passing yards while being sacked three times. It was another sloppy Thursday Night Football affair that featured one touchdown, and it came on the ground. After Wentz capitalized on negative game script to produce some big fantasy finishes earlier in the season, he has come back down to earth and is now a mid-range QB2.

Zach Wilson, 5.6 FPTS

The Jets defeated the Packers on Sunday and are absolutely cruising right now. However, much of their success has come on the ground, which explains why Wilson underachieved in fantasy football this week. The second-year signal-caller threw for just 110 yards and was sacked twice. As the Jets solidify their commitment to running the ball, Wilson remains a low-end QB2 at best.

Fantasy Football Running Back Busts

Nick Chubb, 8.0 FPTS

The Browns fell behind early and were unable to dig themselves out of the hole. As a result, Chubb rushed just 12 times for 56 yards. He also added a 14-yard reception. Chubb, who totaled seven touchdowns from Weeks 2 to 5, should still be viewed as a high-end RB1 against the Ravens next Sunday.

Jeff Wilson Jr., 0.5 FPTS

The 49ers struggled on Sunday, falling behind early against the Falcons. San Francisco committed to a pass-heavy approach, leaving Wilson with just 25 rushing yards. While the Niners would love to emphasize the running game next week, a matchup against the Chiefs could force them to throw again.

Aaron Jones, 7.4 FPTS

Jones rushed for just 19 yards, though he did salvage his finish in PPR formats with three catches for 25 yards through the air. Still, it was a vastly underwhelming finish from the veteran who hasn't scored since Week 2. Fortunately, next week's matchup against the Commanders could prompt the Packers to run the football early and often.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire, 3.3 FPTS

Edwards-Helaire rushed for just 33 yards. Notably, he was held without a catch for the first time all season. In fact, Patrick Mahomes didn't even target him once in the contest. His lack of involvement could partially be attributed to the matchup versus Buffalo, which prompted Mahomes to look downfield and attempt 40 passes. Against the Niners next week, Kansas City might opt to run the ball at a greater frequency.

Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Busts

DK Metcalf, 5.4 FPTS

Metcalf and the Seahawks' passing attack stalled against the Cardinals. The talented wideout registered just two catches for 34 yards, marking his lowest production of the season. Look for him to get back on track against the Chargers in Week 7.

Mike Evans, 8.2 FPTS

After nearly losing to the Falcons last week, the Buccaneers were unable to fend off the Steelers on Sunday. Evans was targeted just four times, and his overall production was a letdown. Fortunately, he has an opportunity to bounce back in a huge way against the Panthers next week.

Tyler Lockett, 3.7 FPTS

Just like Metcalf, Lockett fell victim to the Seahawks' meager production in the passing game. He finished the day with just two catches for 17 yards, a season-low. Fortunately, he has shown that both he and Metcalf can co-exist in a Geno Smith-led offense, so he should continue to be started in fantasy football against the Chargers next Sunday.

D.J. Moore, 3.7 FPTS

Moore hauled in three of seven targets for just seven yards on Sunday. Any hope that P.J. Walker could improve Moore's game did not come to fruition this week. He is too talented to drop in fantasy football, but he also shouldn't be started for the time being. Leave him on your bench against the Buccaneers in Week 7.

Curtis Samuel, 2.6 FPTS

Samuel racked up a season-low two catches for six yards on Thursday night. Although the absence of Jahan Dotson (hamstring) should have increased Samuel's value, the struggles of Washington's passing game resulted in subpar performances from all of its pass-catchers. Fantasy managers should view Samuel as a fine FLEX play against the Packers in Week 7.

Devin Duvernay, 2.4 FPTS

With Rashod Bateman (foot) sidelined, Duvernay had a chance to thrive against the Giants. Instead, he caught a season-low one pass for 14 yards. Although his production has been relatively inconsistent this year, he has managed to post at least nine fantasy points in two-thirds of games. He, too, can be considered a solid FLEX option next Sunday.

Fantasy Football Tight End Busts

Tyler Higbee, 1.7 FPTS

Higbee was the TE2 through the first five weeks, but he registered just one catch for seven yards on Sunday. It was quite surprising to see the tight end command just two targets when Matthew Stafford threw the ball 33 times. With that said, this game is an anomaly and doesn't seem to be indicative of any decreased volume going forward. He will return to mid-range TE1 status after next week's bye.

Tyler Conklin, 2.7 FPTS

Conklin caught just one pass and also rushed for a yard against the Packers on Sunday. Not only have the Jets gone more run-heavy as of late, but Conklin doesn't seem to have the same rapport with Zach Wilson that he had with Joe Flacco. Since Wilson returned three weeks ago, the tight end has amassed just four catches for 68 yards. He is no longer worth starting, and it's fair to wonder if one more dud performance could make him droppable in most leagues.

Taysom Hill, 4.7 FPTS

Hill, who has not been targeted in the passing game since Week 1, rushed for 39 yards and also completed two passes on Sunday. His production was mediocre and certainly a massive step back compared to last week's four-touchdown performance. Fantasy managers should expect this to be the norm considering Hill fills a gadget role. Some weeks, he'll post elite numbers. Others, he'll be a bust. This absolutely makes him difficult to start on a weekly basis in fantasy football.
