NHL Stanley Cup Playoff Series Records:

  • Carolina Hurricanes at Washington Capitals: Series Is Tied
  • Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights: Series Is Tied

DraftKings And FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Logan Thompson - DK $7.6K || FD $7.6K

Opponent - vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Logan Thompson had an impressive first-round performance against the Montreal Canadiens. The goaltender posted a 2.23 Goals Against Average and 0.78 Goals Saved Above Expected Per 60, the second-best for all goalies who played 100 or more minutes. He was not relied on heavily in the Canadiens series; however, that will change against the Carolina Hurricanes. The visitors were the third-best team in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in Shots Per 60, Scoring Chances Per 60, and High-Danger Chances Per 60.

Thompson did not start in either game against the Carolina Hurricanes this season, and it remains to be seen how he will perform. Considering his salary and potential floor and ceiling, he is expected to reach value to open the second round.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Calvin Pickard (DK $7.4K || FD $7.4K) at Vegas Golden Knights

DraftKings And FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - DK $4.5K || FD $5.8K

Opponent - at Vegas Golden Knights

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was a victim of extreme lineup shuffles. He was rotating between centering the second and third lines for the Oilers and playing as a winger on the top line. He ended the first round on the top line, producing two goals, two assists, eight shots, and three blocked shots in the final three games. Over the first round–six games–he managed three goals, two assists, 12 shots, and five blocked shots.

Per the practice lineups, if he remains on the second line, he is expected to go against the Golden Knights’ second line, which was notoriously poor at defense in the first round. For only $4.5K on DraftKings, in a prime line matchup and playing on the top power-play unit for the Oilers, RNH is expected to hit value.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Jack Eichel (DK $7.5K || FD $7.6K) vs. Edmonton Oilers
  • Pierre-Luc Dubois (DK $5K || FD $5.5K) vs. Carolina Hurricanes

DraftKings And FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Alex Ovechkin - DK $8K || FD $7.9K

Opponent - vs. Carolina Hurricanes

The Washington Capitals are only going to go as far as the ‘Great Eight,’ or more commonly known as Alex Ovechkin, will carry them. In the first round against the Montreal Canadiens, he produced four goals, one assist, 19 shots, and one blocked shot.

In the first round, the Carolina Hurricanes were a bottom-10 club in Shots Against Per 60, Scoring Chances Against Per 60, High-Danger Chances Against Per 60, and Goals Against Per 60. They were also the fifth-worst in Expected Goals Against Per 60. The Hurricanes will attempt to slow down Ovechkin with Jordan Staal and the third line. Although when playing at home, Washington will do everything possible to avoid that matchup.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Andrei Svechnikov (DK $5.7K || FD $6.3K) at Washington Capitals
  • Evander Kane (DK $4.4K || FD $5.1K) at Vegas Golden Knights

DraftKings And FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Alex Pietrangelo - DK $4.9K || FD $5.2K

Opponent - vs. Edmonton Oilers

Alex Pietrangelo had a very successful first round, generating one goal, two assists, nine shots, and 15 blocked shots in six games. He will be relied on in round two just as much, if not more. Most likely, playing against Connor McDavid (DK $9K || FD $8.2K) and Leon Draisaitl (DK $8.5K || FD $8.3K).

Unfortunately, Pietrangelo is no longer on a power-play unit for the Vegas Golden Knights. However, his peripheral production is making up for it tenfold. If the veteran two-way defenseman is deployed against Edmonton’s powerhouse, he will have every opportunity to reach value.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Jakob Chychrun (DK $5.9K || FD $5.5K) vs. Carolina Hurricanes
  • Brent Burns (DK $3.8K || FD $4.6K) at Washington Capitals
