NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 2/6/25

Tonight, we have a nine-game slate and zero teams playing on a back-to-back. Tonight’s slate offers value across the board, offering creativity when building lineups.

The currently live top-3 highest implied team totals are Toronto with 3.4, Vancouver with 3.2, and Florida with 3.1. I will do my best to guide you through this nine-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.

DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Andrei Vasilevskiy - DK $8.1K || FD $8K

Opponent - Ottawa Senators

Despite Tampa Bay's recent form, Andrei Vasilevskiy continues to shine, at times, keeping the team above water. In his last five starts, he has a 2-2-1 record with a 2.04 Goals Against Average and a 0.931 Save Percentage.

Furthermore, in his last 10 home starts, he has a 1.39 Goals Against Average, a 0.960 Save Percentage, and a 1.36 Goals Saves Above Expected Per 60. The Ottawa Senators are also the top team in value when assessing Shots Per Goal Per 60 in their last 10 games, excluding splits. Vasilevskiy has every opportunity to make his claim as the top goalie of the slate.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Lindgren (DK $7.8K || FD $7.9K)
  • Georgiev (DK $7K || FD $6.8K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Auston Matthews - DK $9.2K || FD $9K

Opponent - Seattle Kraken

Auston Matthews was in charge of keeping the Maple Leafs competitive while second-line center John Tavares (DK $6.8K || FD $7.3K) was injured. In the former's most recent five performances, he has one goal, five assists, 23 shots, and 10 blocked shots. Matthews is known for his point production. It's his peripherals that are a big upside right now.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Kraken have folded defensively over the last month. In their most recent 10 home games, in Per 60 metrics against, the hosts are a bottom-10 club across the board. As the highest-salaried center and player, Matthews is expected to maintain value in this prime matchup.

Barrett Hayton - DK $4.1K || FD $5.3K

Opponent - Columbus Blue Jackets

Columbus was just picked apart by Buffalo’s second line on Tuesday in a 3-2 loss. Barrett Hayton has underperformed as the second-line center for Utah. However, things changed in Tuesday’s 3-2 win against Philadelphia.

Winger and teammate Dylan Guenther returned and elevated the second line. Hayton has two assists, four shots, and one blocked shot in that performance. In his last five games, he has three assists, 16 shots, and two blocked shots.

The Blue Jackets, in their last ten home games, in Per 60 metrics against, are a bottom-5 club in all metrics, excluding Goals. This is due to project starter Elvis Merzlikins playing at an elite level. Expect Hayton and Utah to deliver a big performance with the hosts still down multiple bodies.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • J. Hughes (DK $8.1K || FD $8K)
  • Bennett (DK $5.5K || FD $6.6K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Brock Boeser - DK $6.7K || FD $5.9K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Vancouver could not be in any more turmoil than they currently are. Despite the poor offensive display from the Canucks, Brock Boeser continues to play at an elite level. The winger now has one goal, one assist, 15 shots, and five blocked shots.

The San Jose Sharks are in an interesting position, performing above expectations through the first half of the season. With all three of their starting goalies now healthy and not quite ready to push for playoffs, this has forced them to send down their goalie of the future, Yaroslav Askarov.

In return, they have looked to Alexandar Georgiev as their short-term option in the net. In his last 10 home starts, he has a 4.12 Goals Against Average, a 0.888 Save Percentage, and a -0.05 Goals Saved Above Expected Per 60. Whether Boeser produces a point or not, he is still projected to reach value with his shot volume alone.

Matthews Knies - DK $5K || FD $6K

Opponent - Seattle Kraken

Matthew Knies is blowing past his season-highs from last year–15 goals and 20 assists–and he could still double those totals depending on his form in the second half of the season. The winger has cemented his spot on the top line for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also has four goals, four assists, 10 shots, and three blocked shots throughout his last five outings.

As mentioned, Seattle is underperforming defensively, and their goaltending is reaching a breaking point. At $5K on DraftKings with a two-game point streak and goal streak, expect Knies to produce another big performance in Seattle.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Ovechkin (DK $7.1K || FD $8.1K)
  • Guenther (DK $6.2K || FD $7.2K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Filip Hronek - DK $4.8K || FD $5K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Filip Hronek will undoubtedly be one of the highest-owned players on the slate at any position tonight. Teammate and ‘go-to’ defender Quinn Hughes has been listed ‘OUT’ for a third straight game, leaving Hronek in charge of the first pairing and top power-play unit. In Hronek’s three games without Hughes, he has three assists, six shots, and six blocked shots.

In the five games prior, he had one goal, two assists, eight shots, and five blocked shots. It is clear that Hronek is stepping up in Quinn’s absence, and against arguably the worst defense in the league, he could very well have his most significant performance of the season.

The aforementioned Sharks are a bottom-3 defense, and their goaltending is not much better. As the focal point of the defense and in a prime matchup, Hronek is projected one point, three shots, and two blocked shots.

Ivan Provorov - DK $4.6K || FD $5.7K

Opponent - Utah Hockey Club

Another defender who is stepping up in the absence of his teammate is Ivan Provorov. Fellow defender Zach Werenski was a late addition to the injury report in the Tuesday loss, leaving Provorov in charge of the defense and the quarterback on the second power-play unit.

Provorov produced one goal, one assist, three shots, and three blocked shots in that performance. In his five games prior, he had one goal, one assist, nine shots, and 11 blocked shots.

Utah has begun to struggle defensively while maintaining its foot on the gas offensively. This could bode well for Provorov, who is known for his peripherals. It is worth mentioning that Werenski has not been officially labeled ‘OUT’ yet and his status is important to watch heading into puck drop.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Chabot (DK $4.7K || FD $5.8K)
  • Gostisbehere (DK $3.6K || FD $5.5K)
