The air conditioner is working overtime to keep up with the heat wave and these fiery waiver adds to help you start the second half of the season strong. The All-Star break will be your chance to relax, but not yet. Let's keep that pedal to the floor as we make our way to the top.
We've got plenty of young players flashing fantasy-relevant tools, others who are showing life but stuck in suboptimal playing situations, and loads of pitching decisions to be made. You need to attack the categories that will most benefit your team. Let's construct a top-to-bottom winner with my waiver wire targets for Week 14.
We'll use Yahoo rostered rates up to 40%, listing players in an approximate priority order (check our full waiver article for up to 70% rostered!). Please note that most statistics are gathered before Saturday's games, though I'll catch key news and happenings as I write. You can find me on X (@NMariano53) with any further questions.
Nick's Hitter Waiver Wire Targets
Catcher: Alejandro Kirk (26% rostered), Kyle Teel (18%), Ryan Jeffers (29%), Francisco Alvarez (20%), Cooper Ingle (3%), J.T. Realmuto (17%), Joe Mack (4%), Jonah Heim (1%), Gary Sanchez (2%), Victor Caratini (11%), Endy Rodriguez (2%), Kyle Higashioka (1%)
Teel went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in just his third game back, reminding anyone who hemmed and hawed that he is indeed a worthy add. Alvarez crushed the Cubs with three homers during the four-game series earlier this week, and enters the weekend hitting .288 with an .858 OPS since returning to play on June 9.
Jeffers is hitting in the cage and should garner fantasy interest when he’s back, although Caratini has been outstanding in his stead. This could create more of a 1A/1B playing time situation than we’d like, at least until Jeffers is potentially traded (Yankees??).
Ingle was called up to Cleveland on Friday and wound up with his first hit and two RBI in Saturday’s win. The Guardians are in desperate need of an offensive pulse, so Ingle and his .284/.416/.551 Triple-A triple slash is now here. He’d hit 12 homers with an 18.6% walk rate and 22.6% strikeout rate, so let’s see if he runs up deep counts in MLB.
