DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Daily College Fantasy Football (9/15/23)

Taulia Tagovailoa - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Rookies, Draft Sleepers, NCAA College Football, Prospects

Mike's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for Friday (9/15/23). His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.

We have a nice Friday night slate of college football on tap this week. All six games feature FBS teams. Two of them are service academies, so we have a few running backs that will throw a pass or four and we can use at the QB slot. This sounds like fun!

We start off with the Wahoos hitting the road again, heading up to Maryland to take on the Terps. UTSA is taking on all comers by hosting Army. An hour later, we close this out in the mountains with Utah State visiting Air Force. This is going to be an interesting slate!

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/15/23, locking at 7 PM Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Taulia Tagovailoa, Maryland ($9,600)

Maryland likes to throw the ball around and Taulia is glad to oblige. His two interceptions against Charlotte last weekend are a bit concerning. But on a small slate like this, volume is king. Tagovailoa could have 20 more attempts than anyone else on this slate. He's a must in cash games and has ample upside for GPP formats as well.

Cooper Legas, Utah State ($5,400)

If you're worried about Legas against the Air Force defense, I get it. I'm not. Legas went into Iowa City in Week 1 against a top-10 defense and put up solid numbers. Legas threw for 213 yards and a touchdown while running for 17 more. The interception is a bit of a letdown, but his overall numbers were better than last week's efficient thumping of Idaho State.

Also consider: Bryson Daily, Army ($6,300); Frank Harris, UTSA ($6,100)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

Roman Hemby, Maryland ($8,500)

The price on Hemby is sky-high, but Virginia has allowed 454 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in the first two games. James Madison and Tennessee are good offenses, but Maryland's is right up there with them. Hemby's work in the passing game (six receptions in two games) translates well to DraftKings scoring. I trust him more than Taulia if I'm trying to choose one or the other.

Kobe Pace, Virginia ($4,100)

Virginia has a crowded backfield, and no one has separated themselves from the pack. Mike Hollins picked up a pair of touchdowns last week. Perris Jones couldn't find any running room against James Madison but scored on a long pass play. Pace had done a little of both in the two games. He scored on a pass and a run against James Madison and only has four carries less than Jones on the season. The Clemson transfer appears to have a large role in the offense.

Also consider: Kevorian Barnes, UTSA ($6,600); John Lee Eldridge, Air Force ($5,000); Jakobi Buchanan, Army ($3,500)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Terrell Vaughn, Utah State ($6,600)

Vaughn has snagged 23 passes in the two games so far. He had 12 receptions against a tough Iowa defense in the opener and has scored three touchdowns in two games. Vaughn's volume is unparalleled by anyone at this point in the season and that's not going to change. Even if he doesn't produce long touchdowns, something can still be said for a guaranteed 10 points on receptions alone.

Joshua Cephus, UTSA ($6,200)

Cephus is almost as much of a target hog as Vaughn is, but I will look elsewhere if Frank Harris can't go in this one. Backup Eddie Lee Marburger doesn't look like he can be trusted. If UTSA goes with Colorado transfer Owen McCown though, I'll buy back in on Cephus. He is talented enough to play with just about any quarterback. Now, another caveat: If De'Corian Clark starts, I'm using him for nearly $2,000 less. Clark was often more productive than Cephus last year.

Isaiah Alston, Army ($4,100)

UTSA's run defense is right up there with Army's. Army proved last week that they can throw with Daily at quarterback. It was Alston who benefited most from this. The senior hauled in three passes for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns last week. Any Army receiver is probably a GPP-only pick. But for this price, Alston could pay off big if the UTSA run defense forces Army to air it out.

Also consider: Corey Dyches, Maryland ($6,300); Malik Washington, Virginia ($5,300)

DraftKings CFB Stacks:

Maryland

The Virginia defense has had issues against two good offenses. They likely will against a third as well. If you run Taulia/Hemby, you're going to have to go cheaper somewhere. You could leave Hemby out, but I don't like that simply because Virginia's run defense is by far the worst on the slate. Dyches is affordable and Taulia gets to ball to a lot of different receivers per game. Jeshaun Jones and Kaden Prather are the more notable receivers, but Dyches and Octavian Smith are right up there with them in targets at a much lower price point.

UTSA

I don't target Army for obvious reasons, but UTSA is cheap and they still have had good players in DFS in two lower-scoring games. Frank Harris is very cheap, but I likely won't use him unless he is 100%. He's not nearly as valuable to our DFS lineups if he's not going to be running. I really like using Barnes and Cephus together here and will have Clark in every lineup if he plays. Clark warmed up before the Texas State game, so he should be able to play here.

Also consider: Utah State, Air Force
