Kade Anderson, Seattle Mariners

Currently at Double-A

The southpaw was in the No. 2 spot for much of May, but his recent production has pushed him back into the top spot. Despite being at Double-A and "potentially" two stops away from the big leagues, the former LSU standout has been near-perfect to begin his professional career and has not endured any growing pains.

Since serving up a season-worst five runs on May 15, the left-hander has rounded back into form in dominant fashion, tossing 15 straight shutout frames (over three starts) while allowing just six hits with a 25:2 K:BB. Overall, the former third overall pick from last year's MLB Draft has made 10 starts with Double-A Arkansas this season and carried a 1.29 ERA with a 0.64 WHIP.

Removing his lone outlier showing where he allowed more than two runs for the first time (and only time) of his professional career, the southpaw would boast a ridiculous 0.40 ERA, 0.62 WHIP, and a 72:7 K:BB over 45 innings of work.

As we have noted in previous articles in this column, the only concern with his redraft value is his path to the major leagues. While it appears Anderson would be in contention for an early debut, Bryce Miller has not only returned to action but has looked quite impressive himself, logging 27 innings to the tune of a 1.33 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP.

His return has bumped veteran Luis Castillo to a long-relief role, but he has done more than enough to keep himself in this position, allowing just two runs over his last 10 2/3 innings of work while striking out eight. Also in the rotation are Bryan Woo, George Kirby, Logan Gilbert, and Emerson Hancock, who are all in no danger of losing their spot.

As a result, Anderson will likely have to wait for an injury, and potentially two, to even truly compete for his MLB debut. However, his current production at Double-A suggests he will likely not even need to make a start at Triple-A, let alone face much regression once he faces MLB hitters. Anderson's upside on a per-start basis puts him in his own tier among names on this list.

Anderson has put himself on the must-roster status and should be added in all standard leagues this weekend.

River Ryan, Los Angeles Dodgers

Currently at Triple-A

River Ryan was enjoying a dominant stretch in his return form, but he had a bit of a road bump in his most recent showing. Facing Triple-A Round Rock, the right-hander ran into some trouble, allowing four runs and six hits across six innings of work. His command was shaky in this outing as well, as he walked three hitters and only struck out four.

While Ryan was able to log at least six innings of work in his second straight outing, he saw his impressive run take a bit of a halt. However, managers looking to stash the team's No. 6-ranked prospect should still view him as an elite option among the pitching prospects.

Before this modest showing, Ryan was enjoying an elite stretch at Triple-A since returning from his minor injury. From May 15 through May 28 (15 innings, three games), Ryan posted a 0.60 ERA with a near-perfect 19:1 K:BB.

While the other names on this list have no MLB experience, Ryan is the exception in this column, as he not only enjoyed a cup of coffee on the big league roster but was also very productive. In 2024, the 27-year-old logged 20 1/3 innings with the Dodgers and posted a 1.33 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP (four starts). However, Tommy John would keep him on the shelf for most of the second half and the entirety of the 2025 season.

With his workload nearly fully ramped up and several injuries on the MLB roster, including to Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow, Ryan's path to return to the majors remains quite clear heading into Week 12. Managers should continue to view him as a strong stash option in 12-team leagues, as he should return to Los Angeles before the end of June.

Hagen Smith, Chicago White Sox

Currently at Triple-A

Among the names on this list, the pitcher who has seen the most improvement in his short-term stock is Hagen Smith of the White Sox. While Montgomery stole the call-up headlines from the club this week, their top pitching prospect is on the verge of joining the MLB roster, too.

Smith had a slow start to his time at Triple-A this season, posting a rough 4.54 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP across 33 2/3 innings. During this stretch of play, the southpaw struck out 38 hitters but could not command his pitches, walking a high 26 batters. However, since May 27, the lefty has done a complete 180 and has quietly been one of the most dominant arms at Triple-A.

Over his last four starts (19 innings), the former fifth overall pick has posted a much-improved 2.37 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP. More importantly, during this stretch, Smith has maintained his elite strikeout upside. He totaled 32 strikeouts while showing high-end command, walking only seven hitters (3.3 BB/9). Earlier in the season, Smith held a much higher 7.2 BB/9.

Like Ryan, his path to the majors remains very clear given Chicago's current rotation. With Noah Schultz on the IL, the team lacks depth in the back half of the rotation, as Erick Fedde and Anthony Kay have been quite inconsistent. His current play has made him a viable stash target in 12+ team leagues.

Carlos Lagrange, New York Yankees

Currently at Triple-A

Carlos Lagrange began the 2026 season as a starter at Triple-A but was shifted to the bullpen earlier in June to provide him an easier path to reach the majors in the immediate future. Per reports, the team believes Lagrange will make the MLB roster this season, and moving him to a long-relief role will get him to the Bronx much sooner.

Since moving to the bullpen, the hard-throwing right-hander has seen his production take a massive step forward. In his first relief outing, Lagrange tossed four innings of one-run ball with a 7:2 K:BB and only one hit allowed. In his most recent relief outing on June 9, Lagrange logged 2 2/3 innings of one-run ball (three hits) with a 3:1 K:BB.

Before this recent improvement, Lagrange struggled to pitch out of the starting rotation, posting a 4.41 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP across 49 frames. While he continued to show just as much strikeout upside, totaling 63 strikeouts, his weak command (25 walks) caused him some damage.

However, while his path to the majors might be clearer, moving to a long-relief/potential setup role will hinder his fantasy upside. The Yankees already have a proven closer in David Bednar, which will likely keep Lagrange in a middle-relief role to begin his MLB career, with the potential to slide into the seventh- or eighth-inning roles.

While managers in standard leagues should not consider stashing him yet, those in deeper leagues (that reward holds) should.

Since moving to the bullpen at Triple-A, the flamethrower has looked quite comfortable, which suggests his MLB debut may come sooner rather than later. Once in the Bronx, Lagrange could take over the setup role and put him in the "elite" tier of hold providers, given his immense strikeout potential.

Karson Milbrandt, Miami Marlins

Currently at Triple-A

Rounding out our column will be a new name for our regular readers. While we have spotlighted several of the budding Marlins pitchers over the season, such as Robby Snelling and Thomas White, both are on the shelf and expected to miss the remainder of the season. This has surprisingly opened the door for Karson Milbrandt to compete for an early debut.

While Milbrandt began the regular season at the Double-A level, he has recently moved up to Triple-A and is looking just as comfortable facing the top hitters in the minor leagues.

The 22-year-old opened the season with Double-A and held his own over his first "full" taste at the level. Across 47 innings of work (nine starts), Milbrandt posted an elite 1.34 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP.

Over this two-month stint, Milbrandt struck out 70 hitters and walked 17. During the 2025 campaign, he spent most of his time in the lower levels and only moved up to Double-A over his last 10 2/3 innings, posting a similar 1.69 ERA.

This stellar showing earned him an early ticket to Triple-A Jacksonville. In his first outing with the top club in the system, Milbrandt looked just as impressive, logging six shutout frames against Nashville. In this start, Milbrandt allowed just two hits and walked three, but only managed to tally one strikeout.

Given that Miami lacks a true No. 4 and No. 5 option on the major league roster and with both Eury Perez and Janson Junk on the IL, Milbrandt's debut could be in the near future, potentially before the end of the first half. While he will likely need a few more starts at Triple-A to prove he is ready, he is on a trajectory to debut much sooner than the Marlins likely anticipated.
