Konnor Griffin is a fantasy baseball waiver wire stash for Week 1 (2026). Target Konnor Griffin as a top prospect free-agent waiver wire pickup for fantasy baseball.
BALLER MOVE: Add in all leagues
CALL-UP ETA: April
ANALYSIS: Shortly before the regular season began, the Pirates opted to send Griffin to Triple-A Indianapolis. Griffin remained on the roster throughout most of spring training and was one of the final cuts, suggesting he made a serious push to crack the Opening Day roster.
However, the Pirates will instead opt for him to continue developing during the opening weeks in the upper minors.
In camp, Griffin launched four home runs and went 7-for-38 across a small stint. While he showcased his raw power, his inconsistent contact likely led to his "demotion" from the major league roster.
Griffin is set to make his Triple-A debut with Indianapolis in the coming days and may only need a short seasoning there before earning the call to the Steel City. Fantasy managers should continue to closely monitor his production, as he only needed 21 games at Double-A last season.

While managers who selected Griffin with a near top-150 in drafts this offseason are disappointed, they should continue to stash him with confidence. Seeing Griffin progress through Low-A, High-A, and Double-A in his first professional campaign last summer and nearly make the Opening Day roster without the need to take a single Triple-A at-bat suggests he is very close to his MLB debut.
Across 122 MiLB games last season, Griffin showcased immense fantasy potential, posting a .333/.415/.527 line with a .942 OPS. He hit 23 doubles, 21 home runs, and swiped an impressive 65 bases. He was even more dominant at Double-A (21 games), posting a .337/.418/.542 line with five home runs and six stolen bases.
Currently, Nick Gonzales is the everyday shortstop on the MLB roster, but he has not had much sustained success in the majors. Over 96 games in Pittsburgh last season, Gonzales held a modest .260/.299/.362 line with a low .661 OPS.
If Griffin can continue this trajectory at Triple-A, he could join the Pirates before the end of April. His elite five-category upside makes him a top stash candidate in all leagues.
