Matt's quarterback (QB) fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 6 of 2025. His QB lineups advice for Week 6 fantasy football start/sit decisions.

The cream always rises to the top. Entering Week 6, we have eight quarterbacks averaging at least 20 fantasy points per game, while Jayden Daniels sits 14th, averaging 19 fantasy points. The bar is set, and it's only the beginning.

Every week, we break down which quarterbacks you should look at starting, which ones should sit, and which quarterbacks are playing at a high level that fantasy managers should exercise caution with.

With that out of the way, which quarterbacks should fantasy managers trust as we enter Week 6 of the NFL season? Here are your Week 6 starts and sits for the quarterback position.

Week 6 - Fantasy Football Booms

Bryce Young- QB, Carolina Panthers vs. Dallas Cowboys

Let's start this week with a controversial inclusion: Young of the Carolina Panthers. After trailing 17-0 to the Miami Dolphins last week, Young transformed into Tom Brady to lead the Panthers to their second victory this season.

Young may not be the Panthers' long-term answer, and his lay has likely frustrated the fan base, especially after watching former Panthers Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold sling it around the field last week. They combined for 720 passing yards and six passing touchdowns when the Seahawks and Buccaneers met. Young currently sits as the QB22 in fantasy, averaging 13.5 fantasy points per game, so why is he a start this week?

It's all about the matchups. No team allows more fantasy production to opposing quarterbacks than the Dallas Cowboys, who have allowed 27.42 fantasy points per game. In five games, Dallas has allowed the most passing yards (1,520) and is currently second behind Baltimore for the most passing touchdowns surrendered with 12. Dallas has also been generous on the ground as the two rushing scores conceded to the position are the second most, and the 148 rushing yards allowed are the fifth highest.

Young's Week 6 projection is a decent floor for QB2/Superflex leagues, but he's not a sexy option in 1-QB leagues. I started Mac Jones and Cooper Rush last week, and Young is certainly a more viable option than Rush again this week. If Carolina falls behind again, there's also the potential for garbage-time points. They don't ask how; they ask how many in fantasy football.

Matthew Stafford - QB, Los Angeles Rams at Baltimore Ravens

This call is about as easy as a fantasy football decision. On one hand, you have a quarterback who leads the NFL with 1,503 passing yards (300.6 per game), trails only Jared Goff in touchdown passes thrown with 11, and is currently averaging 19.9 fantasy points per game after back-to-back 25-plus fantasy performances.

Against the 49ers last week, a defense that had only allowed 13.23 fantasy points per game to the quarterback position over the previous four weeks, Stafford went off for 389 passing yards, completing 30 of 47 passing attempts while casually tossing three touchdowns.

One primary reason has been the connection with Puka Nacua, who already has 588 receiving yards and is on pace for 1,999 receiving yards, which would surpass Cooper Kupp and Calvin Johnson as the most receiving yards in a single season. Kupp and Johnson also had Stafford as their quarterback.

On the other hand, you have the Ravens. Injuries have decimated their defense, and for fantasy, it has produced four negative fantasy weeks in their five contests this season. It's a defense that has allowed both the second-most passing yards (1,351) and 24.39 fantasy points per game this season.

Meanwhile, the 13 passing touchdowns allowed have been the most to date. It's basic fantasy mathematics here: Stafford is well-positioned to finish as the overall QB1 this week.

Drake Maye - QB, New England Patriots at New Orleans Saints

Another quarterback who is on a bit of a heater is Maye of the New England Patriots. Even after a down week for fantasy last week against the Bills, Maye still averages 19.5 fantasy points per contest.

As for that "off" week, let's talk about it, shall we? Against Buffalo, Maye completed 22 of 30 passing attempts for 273 passing yards; however, the passing game gave way to Rhamondre Stevenson, who ran the ball in for a couple of scores. Maye was much better than the 12.1 fantasy points you would have believed.

Only two quarterbacks in NFL history have won four consecutive contests while throwing for 200 or more yards, a completion percentage greater than 73.3%, and a passer rating over 100.0. Tom Brady is one, and Maye is now the other.

With Stefon Diggs becoming increasingly acclimated to the offense, there is no reason to believe Maye or the Patriots will slow down. Diggs became the first Patriots receiver since Julian Edelman in 2019 to finish with back-to-back 100-yard receiving games after hauling in 10 passes for 146 receiving yards against Buffalo.

This week, Maye and Diggs head to the Bayou to face a Saints defense that has allowed 20.62 fantasy points per game over the previous four weeks and has yielded 1,086 passing yards and 11 touchdown passes to opposing quarterbacks this season, including a pair to Jaxson Dart a week ago.

Week 6 - Fantasy Football Busts

Justin Fields - QB, New York Jets vs. Denver Broncos (London)

In three of Justin Fields' four games under center this season, the Konami Code quarterback has posted 25 or more fantasy points, including back-to-back performances, and is currently averaging 21.6 fantasy points per game. If not for that four-point performance in Week 2, Fields could be flirting with Josh Allen as the top fantasy quarterback this season.

With Fields, the upside is always going to be there; however, last week, Fields managed to take advantage of a positive situation against a struggling Cowboys defense and, to his credit, threw for 283 yards on 32 of 46 passing while connecting with Garrett Wilson and Andrew Beck for a pair of scores. This week's opponent isn't the Dallas Cowboys; it's the Denver Broncos. You aren't playing in New York or Denver; you are flying overseas to play in London, England.

Denver hasn't been the dominating defense that we expected it to be this season. That said, for fantasy, the numbers are still impressive. As a DST, Denver averages 8.0 fantasy points per game and sits eighth in the league. Regarding defending opposing quarterbacks, the Broncos are allowing the third-fewest points this season, averaging 12.96 per game against. Only the Houston Texans have allowed fewer passing touchdowns than the four the Broncos have conceded. 

The Broncos are looking to repeat history after coming away with a league-high 63 sacks a season ago. They currently lead the NFL with 21 sacks over five contests, with Nik Bonitto again leading the way with seven.

Daniel Jones - QB, Indianapolis Colts vs. Arizona Cardinals

Another quarterback exceeding expectations this season has been Daniel Jones. While Jones is averaging 19.4 fantasy points this season, that number could've been much higher if not for a couple of blowouts against the Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders in which the team decided to give Jones some time off late in both contests.

Again, it's early, but Jones's 1,290 passing yards are the third most in the NFL, while his completion percentage (71.3%) is the fifth-best mark amongst his peers. This week's contest will provide more of a test for Jones and the Colts. The Cardinals have proved to be formidable opponents, and this game is a potential defensive battle. 

While the Colts have been one of the top DSTs this season, averaging 10.2 fantasy points per game, Arizona has been impressive on its own account, averaging 7.2 fantasy points per game and consistently producing five or more fantasy points in each game.

Defensively, the Cardinals rank 11th in turnovers forced (six), while also sacking the quarterback on 10 occasions. The one number fantasy managers should know this week is 14.02. That's how many fantasy points the Cardinals allow quarterbacks per game this season, the sixth fewest.

Dak Prescott - QB, Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers

It's easy to pick quarterbacks who aren't good at fantasy and plug them in each week in this column, but I refuse to exclude the best the game has to offer, and that includes Dak Prescott, the QB7 overall in points per game this season. All three quarterbacks on the "Sit List" this week are top 12 fantasy options, but the matchups they face should raise flags.

Prescott has elevated his game since losing CeeDee Lamb and posted back-to-back weeks of 28 or more fantasy points. However, it's not always about the quarterback; it's how this week's game script plays out.

Carolina has allowed 13.12 fantasy points per game in the last four weeks, the fourth fewest. The 802 passing yards surrendered over that period is the ninth fewest. Why is that? Carolina has been effectively running the ball, as was evident last week when Rico Dowdle ran for over 200 yards. If Chuba Hubbard were to miss this contest, Dowdle will certainly have revenge on his mind. 

Carolina either shortens this game or Dallas gets out early and uses Javonte Williams against a Panthers defense that allows 22.52 fantasy points per game and 440 rushing yards over the last four weeks to close it out. Either way, Prescott's involvement this week may not be what it has been in previous weeks.
