When Will Alex Bregman, Nathan Eovaldi, Tyler Glasnow Return? Fantasy Baseball Injury Update

Nathan Eovaldi - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

When will Bregman, Eovaldi, and Glasnow return and play? Will Bregman, Eovaldi, and Glasnow be back again this season? Read the latest fantasy baseball injury updates and return date for Week 10 of the 2025 MLB season.

Fantasy managers have seen several high-end players hit the injured list over the season's first two months. As a result, several budding prospects have been given an early-season opportunity to make their MLB debut.

In this piece, we will analyze the latest injury update on Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman (quadriceps), Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (triceps), and Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (shoulder).

When should fantasy managers expect these players to return to action? Should fantasy managers continue to stash them on their bench? Let's dive in!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Alex Bregman Injury Update For Fantasy Baseball

After spending the entirety of his career with the Houston Astros, the Boston Red Sox signed the third baseman to a massive three-year, $120 million contract in the offseason.

Bregman began his tenure in Boston on a high note, posting a stellar .299/.385/.555 line with 11 long balls and one stolen base. He added 17 doubles, the second-highest total in the American League, and tallied 35 RBI and 32 runs.

However, Bregman left his contest on May 23 early with an apparent leg injury. Shortly after, the team revealed that Bregman was dealing with tightness in his right quadriceps and would undergo further imaging.

On May 24, the Red Sox officially placed the third baseman on the 10-day injured list with a right quadriceps strain.

Manager Alex Cora described the injury as "significant," and he would be sidelined for a "longer" period than they had hoped. Gabrielle Starr of The Boston Herald noted that his injury is being compared to the quadriceps strain he suffered in 2021 when he missed over 50 games.

Fantasy managers should continue monitoring his status but not expect him to return to action anytime soon. Since hitting the injured list, Bregman has yet to take any significant step forward in his progression, which is not a positive sign.

In addition, when he hit the injured list, the Red Sox opted to promote top infield prospect Marcelo Mayer, which suggests Bregman could be out for at least the next month, and likely longer. Mayer has continued to see most of the opportunities at the hot corner but has struggled to find his footing, holding a .231/.286/.308 line over his last seven games.

Even though he has an unknown timeline, fantasy managers in all formats should continue to view Bregman as a must-stash player. During the opening two months of the season, Bregman performed as a high-end third baseman.

Under the hood, he has generated a .359 xwOBA with a 48.1% hard-hit rate, both of which are well above the average marks.

Nathan Eovaldi Injury Update For Fantasy Baseball

Nathan Eovaldi was performing as the early-season AL Cy Young favorite across his first 69 1/3 innings. During this stretch, the Texas right-hander posted an elite 1.56 ERA with a 0.81 WHIP. He struck out 73 batters while throwing near-perfect control, allowing walks at a 3.8% rate, which places him in the 98th percentile among qualified pitchers.

However, on May 27, Eovaldi exited his start against the Toronto Blue Jays early with an undisclosed injury. Following the start, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reported that Eovaldi was dealing with right triceps fatigue.

However, the team noted that the move was "precautionary" and he would be in line to make his next start. Unfortunately, manager Bruce Bochy said on May 30 that Eovaldi would have his start pushed back, but he was not expected to miss a significant portion of time.

Then, on June 1, Eovaldi was placed on the 15-day injured list, suggesting that the injury did not progress well, and he faced a further setback. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears Eovaldi is trending in the wrong direction.

Since hitting the injured list, Eovaldi has not started his recovery process.

Even though he has an unknown timetable, fantasy managers in all standard 12-team leagues should continue to view him as a must-stash pitcher. During the opening two months of the season, the 35-year-old was one of the most valuable players in fantasy. While he sits near the middle of the pack in xERA (67th percentile) and xBA (57th percentile), he showed incredible command of his pitches and could generate groundballs at an elite 51.7% rate.

While he remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect prospect pitcher Kumar Rocker (shoulder) to take his spot in the rotation, as he is set to be activated off the injured list on Wednesday.

Rocker struggled early in the season but performed well in his rehab assignment and is worth a speculative add in 12+ teams leagues while Eovaldi remains sidelined.

Tyler Glasnow Injury Update For Fantasy Baseball

The final pitcher we will check in on is Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow has dealt with injuries throughout his 10-year MLB career, and 2025 is no different.

After tossing 18 innings this season, Glasnow was placed on the 15-day injury list due to right shoulder inflammation.

Through his first 18 innings of the season, Glasnow posted a 4.50 ERA with a 1.28 WHIP. He struck out 23 batters but struggled with his command, as he allowed walks at a high 14.3% rate (third percentile).

He left his final start on April 27 with right shoulder discomfort before officially moving to the injured list.

Following the IL transaction, the team opted to keep Glasnow sidelined for the next 10-14 days.

However, after this period, Glasnow was given the clearance to begin playing catch but was not given a definitive timeline to resume mound work.

On May 23, Glasnow threw off the mound for the first time but was then shifted to the 60-day injured list as he has not made much progress since hitting the injured list in late April.

On June 2, Glasnow noted that he began feeling soreness, but his manager, Dave Roberts, downplayed this injury and suggested that it was not overly serious. Roberts added that Glasnow was scheduled to throw a bullpen session later this weekend.

While he still does not have a definitive timetable, fantasy managers in 12-team formats should continue to stash him on an IR spot on their roster. While he had a modest start to the 2025 campaign, Glasnow has been a very effective pitcher when on the mound. In 2024, the hard-throwing right-hander struck out batters at an elite 32.2% rate, which placed him in the 95th percentile among qualified pitchers.

Fantasy managers should expect Landon Knack to remain in the starting rotation. Knack has held an impressive 1.50 ERA over his last two starts and is a viable waiver wire option in deeper leagues.
