NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 1/24/25

Tonight, we have a four-game slate and two teams playing on a back-to-back: Utah and Vegas. Tonight’s slate offers value across the board, offering creativity when building lineups.

The currently live top-3 highest implied team totals are Tampa Bay with 4.0, Winnipeg with 3.4, and Dallas with 3.1. I will do my best to guide you through this 11-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:30 p.m. EST.

DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Connor Hellebuyck - DK $8.2K || FD $7.9K

Opponent - Utah Hockey Club

Value is almost nonexistent on the slate tonight at the goalie position. This leads fantasy players to either pay down for hopeful value or pay up for a safer floor from a potential win.

In this case, Connor Hellebuyck will be featured, as he possessed one of the higher chances of a win. In Hellebuyck’s last five starts, he has a 4-1 record with a 1.6 Goals Against Average and a 0.932 Save Percentage. When analyzing his previous 10 home games, he has a 0.88 Goals Against Average, a 0.96 Save Percentage, and a 0.89 Goals Saved Above Expected Per 60.

Utah’s offense has been firing on all cylinders lately, and it is also the third-best team when analyzing teams in terms of value in Shots Per Goal Per 60. As long as Hellebuyck can focus early, he has a chance to produce the highest point total at the goalie position.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Oettinger (DK $8K || FD $7.6K)
  • Sorokin (DK $7.8K || FD $7.7K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Anthony Cirelli - DK $5.8K || FD $7.2K

Opponent - Chicago Blackhawks

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been producing less than desired, considering their lineup and expectations this season. This has led to another lineup shuffle, moving Anthony Cirelli onto the top line. The two-way center was already one of the brighter players in the lineup, and now he gets the most significant opportunity of his young but decorated career.

In his first game as Tampa Bay’s top center, he had one assist, three shots, and one blocked shot. Over his last five games, he has one goal, one assist, 13 shots, and four blocked shots.

Cirelli is not known for his shot production, and that will certainly be the case with his new linemates. On the other end of the ice, Chicago remains the worst team in the league in all metrics against, Per 60, over its last 10 home games. Furthermore, in expected starter Petr Mrazek’s last 10 home starts, he has a 3.33 Goals Against Average and a -0.53 Goals Saves Above Expected Per 60. Expect Cirelli to have his biggest performance of the season.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Scheifele (DK $6.7K || FD $7.9K)
  • Nelson (DK $5.5K || FD $6.3K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Michael Eyssimont - DK $2.7K || FD $3.6K

Opponent - Chicago Blackhawks

Another player who is taking advantage of the new lineup shuffle in Tampa Bay is Michael Eyssimont. The center/winger hybrid has been elevated onto the second line and produced one assist, two shots, and two blocked shots in his first game. In the five games prior, he had zero points, zero blocked shots, and nine shots.

As mentioned above, Chicago remains a poor team defensively and its goaltending is not any better. On a four-game slate, it is imperative to eat the "chalk," and tonight it is the star-studded Lightning. To do that, "punt" plays are required. Eyssimont makes this work.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Barzal (DK $6.1K || FD $6.7K)
  • Iafallo (DK $2.8K || FD $4.8K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Ryan Pulock - DK $4.3K || FD $4.9K

Opponent - Philadelphia Flyers

Speaking of "punt" plays. Ryan Pulock of the New York Islanders is under $4.5K on DraftKings and is commonly a forgotten defenseman when the Islanders have a healthy team. However, that is not the case right now and Pulock finds himself quarterbacking the top power play with teammate and fellow defender Noah Dobson week-to-week. In his last five outings, he has one goal, nine shots, and 10 blocked shots.

Philadelphia will be traveling on a back-to-back after a big loss at Madison Square Garden last night with Samuel Ersson. It is expected to start Ivan Fedotov tonight. Fedotov is certainly playing better than reason; however, will it be enough to keep Philadelphia afloat?

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Hanifin (DK $4.6K || FD $5.4K)
  • Marino (DK $2.9K || FD $3.7K)
