NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/14/24

Tonight, we have a ten-game slate and no teams playing on a back-to-back. Tonight’s slate offers value and defender positions, offering creativity when building lineups.

The current live top-three highest implied team totals are New York Rangers with 4.1, Minnesota with 4.1, and Edmonton with 3.5. I will do my best to guide you through this ten-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 P.M. EDT.

DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Jordan Binnington - DK $7.1K || FD $7.5K

Opponent - Buffalo Sabres

In what was an expected win following two periods of shutout hockey for the Blues at home against Boston, the hosts dropped the game in the final minutes. In that match, Binnington posted a 3.10 Goals Against Average and a 0.900 Save Percentage. In his most recent five starts, he has a 2-3-0 record with a 3.45 Goals Against Average and a 0.877 Save Percentage.

The Buffalo Sabres may be without their star center, Tage Thompson, after he picked up an injury in the 7-5 loss to Montreal on Tuesday. This would boost Binnington’s value. For only $7.1K on DraftKings, the goaltender has an optimal path to "Goalie of the Night."

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Oettinger (DK $8K || FD $8.3K)
  • Pickard (DK $8K || FD $7.9K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Vincent Trocheck - DK $6.5K || FD $6.5K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Vincent Trocheck may be one of the slate's most highly-owned players tonight. The veteran center gets his old linemates Alexis Lafreniere and Artemi Panarin back. In his last five outings, Trocheck has one goal, 11 shots, and three blocked shots.

The San Jose Sharks are among the league's bottom three teams this season in all metrics against Per 60. Their goaltending also carries them, something that is not sustainable.

The center is in a prime spot to produce since Trocheck and the second line are expected to see the first and fourth lines for the Sharks, along with the Sharks’ first and second defensemen pairs. Expect him to generate two points, two shots, and one blocked shot.

Pavel Buchnevich - DK $4.4K || FD $5.6K

Opponent - Buffalo Sabres

Pavel Buchnevich has been one of the only diamonds in the rough for St. Louis this season. After teammate and center Robert Thomas was injured, Buchnevich instantly stepped up. He has one goal, three assists, and nine shots in his last five games.

The Buffalo Sabres sit just outside the bottom ten in metrics against Per 60, and typical starter Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is day-to-day. This slots Devon Levi to potentially start for the hosts.

In four games played, Levi has a -1.9 Goals Saved Above Expected Per 60, the second-worst amongst all goalies who have played 120 minutes this season. For only $4.4K on DraftKings and in a premium matchup, Buchnevich is expected to maintain value at a minimum.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • McDavid (DK $9.6K || FD $8.7K)
  • Eriksson Ek (DK $6.2K || FD $6.2K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Kirill Kaprizov - DK $9.8K || FD $8.9K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

Two big names that are justified when paying up for tonight. New York Rangers winger Panarin– in Others To Consider–and Minnesota winger Kirill Kaprizov. Kaprizov, in his most recent five appearances, has two goals, five assists, 15 shots, and one blocked shot. He is also averaging five shots per 60 in his last two games.

In Per 60 stats, the Montreal Canadiens are the fifth-worst in Shots Against, the third-worst in both Scoring Chances Against and High-Danger Chances Against, and the worst in Goals Against. There is no better time than now for the young winger to continue his hot form.

Alexis Lafreniere - DK $4.9K || FD $5.4K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Winger Lafreniere will compete with teammate and aforementioned Trocheck for the highest-owned player on the slate. Sitting under $5K on DraftKings on one of the projected ‘chalk’ lines, Lafreniere is expected to see north of 20 percent ownership in most contests.

In his last five appearances, the winger has two goals, two assists, five shots, and three blocked shots. As mentioned, San Jose plays less-than-ideal defense, and the youngster is expected to see their worst defensive lines. Lock and load Lafreniere for one point, three shots, and one blocked shot.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Kyrou (DK $6.3K || FD $6.4K)
  • Skinner (DK $4K || FD $5K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Justin Faulk - DK $4.4K || FD $5.1K

Opponent - Buffalo Sabres

Justin Faulk didn't entirely disappoint on Tuesday but didn't reach his expected outcome in the late 3-2 home loss to the Bruins. Faulk is now pointless in his last eight matches. In that timeframe, he had 21 shots and 16 blocked shots, averaging three shots Per 60 and two blocked shots Per 60.

The Buffalo Sabres are the optimal opponent for Faulk to break out of this slump, especially if their center, Tage Thompson, is out. With a share of power-play time and a top-4 role in a back-and-forth game, Faulk is projected to surpass value.

Jared Spurgeon - DK $3.8K || FD $4.7K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

Jared Spurgeon is projected as another player to see north of 20 percent ownership in most contests tonight. The two-way defenseman has a date with the Canadiens. As mentioned previously, Montreal is a bottom-barrel club, and in their last five away games, they are averaging four Goals Against Per 60 minutes.

Under $4K on DraftKings, in an optimal matchup, Spurgeon will have ample opportunity to surpass value. In his most recent five games, he has two assists, 15 shots, and three blocked shots.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Fox (DK $5.7K || FD $5.8K)
  • Chabot (DK $5.3K || FD $5.9K)
