Fantasy Baseball Catcher Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 10 (2024)

Welcome RotoBallers to our catcher fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for Week 10 (May 27 - June 2). In this article, we will look at three catchers whom fantasy managers should pick up and play with confidence this upcoming week. All three of these catchers should also be available in your league, as they are rostered in less than 40% of Yahoo leagues. 

Now, some of these catchers might not be long-term options for your fantasy roster. However, they could be a great replacement if you are waiting for Sean Murphy (oblique) -- who should return in the coming days -- Willson Contreras (forearm), or Francisco Alvarez (thumb) to return from the injured list.

So, without further ado, here are three catchers that fantasy managers should pick up heading into Week 10. All stats in this article are through Thursday's games.

Catcher Waiver Wire Adds

Elias Diaz, Colorado Rockies (38% Rostered)

The only reason that Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz has dipped to under 40% rostered is because of a hand injury that caused him to sit out four games last week. But Diaz should begin to see his rostership climb, as he has been one of the most productive catchers at the plate this season.

Diaz is currently hitting .320 with four home runs, nine doubles, and 23 RBI across 41 contests in 2024. The veteran has also picked up right where he left off before his hand injury, totaling two three-hit games since his return. In his first game back on Tuesday, he went 3-for-4 at the plate with three singles. Then, on Wednesday, the Rockies catcher went 3-for-5 with one double, one home run, and two RBI.

It's hard to find consistently producing catchers on the waiver wire right now, but Diaz is one of the few. He starts almost every game for Colorado and has eight multi-hit games over his last 13 starts. With the 33-year-old playing six of the next nine games at Coors Field, pick up the veteran now before your league mates do. He is hitting an absurd .343 with two HRs and 17 RBI in 18 home games this season.

Danny Jansen, Toronto Blue Jays (22% Rostered) 

It is shocking to see Toronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen still available in 78% of Yahoo leagues. Since making his season debut on April 16, Jansen has been one of the best-hitting catchers in baseball. He is currently hitting .329 with five HRs, 10 doubles, and 13 RBI in 24 games this season. That hot start has also led to more playing time for the 29-year-old.

Jansen has started six of the past nine games and 10 of the last 14 contests for the Blue Jays. While fantasy managers likely want to see him play more than that, that shouldn't matter too much because he's producing big numbers every time he starts. In Thursday's 9-1 win, he went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Then, earlier in the week on Monday, he went 3-for-5 at the plate with one home run, one double, and five RBI.

So, even if Jansen plays four or five games in a given week, he is still worth rostering due to his upside. He has gotten on base in seven straight starts and has recently moved up in the batting order. The seven-year vet has batted in the two-hole in three straight starts. That should lead to more at-bats every game and potentially more fantasy points.

Don't sleep on the Blue Jays catcher in fantasy. Pick him up now, especially with six games against the Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates in Week 10.

Patrick Bailey, San Francisco Giants (6% Rostered)

If fantasy managers are looking for a catcher option in deeper formats, San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey could be a nice target. Despite only starting two games since May 4 due to a concussion, Bailey has produced solid numbers at the plate when he has been healthy.

Bailey has a .292 average with three HRs, six doubles, and 12 RBI in 29 games this season. While those numbers won't wow fantasy managers, he can be a fine catcher replacement in deeper leagues. He should see most of the starts behind the plate and has batted in the middle of the Giants' order for most of the year. The 24-year-old has batted third, fifth, or sixth in 12 straight starts, which should help his fantasy value over the next few weeks.

Of course, Bailey might not have the upside of the other two catchers on this list. However, he does have a nice floor in fantasy. With six games next week against the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees, those matchups will be a good test for the Giants catcher. If he can produce solid numbers in Week 10, he will likely see his rostership increase.
