Tony Pollard Off the Injury Report, Usage Could Dip in Week 9
Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard (neck) is expected to play in Sunday's Week 9 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers after being limited with a neck injury in practice earlier in the week. Pollard was removed from the injury report and doesn't carry an injury designation heading into Week 9. Last week, he scored a season-low of 6.3 fantasy points against the Indianapolis Colts, rushing 11 times for 44 yards and catching one pass for nine yards on two targets. Week 8 was the first time this season that Pollard was out-touched by teammate Tyjae Spears. Over the last three weeks, Pollard has also had a higher snap share than Spears has had at any point. With the season likely lost, the Titans may prefer to feature the younger, more explosive Spears instead of Pollard, who has averaged only 3.9 yards per carry, compared to Spears' impressive 5.5 yards per carry. Pollard faces the Chargers' run-funnel defense, which has been weak against the run, allowing 10 touchdowns in eight weeks, ranking second-worst in the NFL. As a result, Pollard is a touchdown-dependent running back and is more of a FLEX play as RotoBaller's 31st-ranked running back for Week 9.
