Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlooks
DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf salvaged his Week 2 fantasy output with a touchdown and will look for more opportunities against the New England Patriots in Week 3. The Patriots, who have been without All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez (hamstring) so far this season, have surrendered the second-most fantasy points to opposing wideouts.
Gonzalez returned to limited practice this week and is officially questionable to suit up on Sunday. Metcalf remains a viable fantasy option regardless, but his ceiling rises significantly if Gonzalez is ruled out.
WR1s have logged at least six catches for 97 yards against New England in back-to-back weeks. In what projects to be a competitive contest, Pittsburgh may lean heavily on quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his top target. Fire up Metcalf as a solid fantasy WR2 with upside this week.
Rome Odunze, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze is quickly building on his second-year breakout. In Week 2, the 2024 ninth-overall pick delivered a monster outing, catching seven of 11 targets for 128 yards and two touchdowns against the Lions.
Odunze played 100% of the snaps, firmly establishing himself as the WR1 in Chicago's offense. He now draws a favorable Week 3 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, a defense that allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to wide receivers in 2024 and just gave up a blow-up game to Malik Nabers.
With this matchup carrying the second-highest over/under of the week and the Bears' shaky defense likely forcing them into a pass-heavy script, Odunze is set up for another big day. Odunze should be treated as a high-end WR2 with WR1 upside in Week 3.
George Pickens, Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens reminded everyone he's very much alive in Week 2, cracking the top-15 wideout ranks and flashing the chemistry he's building with new quarterback Dak Prescott.
Nine targets against the Giants underline a growing trust that should translate into steady fantasy value. Now the Cowboys head to a rainy Chicago, but a little drizzle won't dampen the outlook. The Bears have surrendered a league-high 3.5 passing touchdowns per game, and Dennis Allen's defense has been about as sturdy as a paper umbrella in a wind tunnel.
Even better, Pickens has already seen four red-zone targets this young season after scoring there last year. If that trend continues, fantasy managers will be grinning from ear to ear--and maybe humming a victory tune as Pickens hits pay dirt again.
Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave led the team in receptions, yards, and targets in Week 2, finishing with six catches for 54 yards on 10 targets. He's built strong chemistry with quarterback Spencer Rattler, totaling 13 receptions for 108 yards on 23 targets through two games.
Olave is still searching for his first touchdown of the season, but Kellen Moore's aggressive passing offense suggests it's coming soon. As long as he stays healthy, his weekly target share keeps him in the WR2/WR3 mix.
