Jean Segura Announces Retirement
Jean Segura officially announced his retirement from professional baseball on Wednesday, according to The Athletic's Matt Gelb. Segura was a two-time All-Star and slashed .281/.327/.401 with a .729 OPS, 110 home runs, 513 RBI and 211 stolen bases over his 12-year career while playing for the Milwaukee Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies, Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, Miami Marlins and Los Angeles Angels. The 35-year-old spent four years each in Milwaukee and Philadelphia and last played in 2023 with Miami, when he batted .219/.277/.279 with three homers, 21 RBI and six steals in only 85 games played. Segura led the National League with 203 hits in 2016 with the Diamondbacks. His lone postseason appearance came in 2022 with the Phillies.
