FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (5/15/19): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Nate Duffett highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 5/15/19, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

There are 14 games on the schedule today, with Fanduel being split into an early slate and main slate. We will include players from both of the slates.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/15/2019. These picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS lineup picks for DraftKings and other sports. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me on Twitter @Roto_Nate.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

J.A. Happ: NYY vs BAL ($8,700) (Early)

Happ seems to finally be settling into a groove, putting up scoreless outings in two of his last three starts. His best start of the year came last game at the expense of the Mariners, as he went five scoreless innings with one hit and seven strikeouts. He looks to have another good outing tomorrow against the Orioles who have only been able to manage a .287 wOBA so far this season against left-handed pitchers with a 27.3% Strikeout Rate.

Justin Verlander: HOU at DET ($12,000) (Main)

I usually stay away from pitchers who have this high of a price, but the matchup could be too good to ignore in this spot. Verlander has been lights out in his last six games, allowing one or fewer runs in five of those six starts while striking out 49. He will head back to the mound he knows so well in Detroit to face a team that has an abysmal .284 wOBA with a 25.7% Strikeout Rate against right-handed pitching. You will need to fit in some value bats if you want to play Verlander. Make sure to check out the cheaper plays I add below as well as the DFS Value Plays article that we offer to our Premium Subscribers.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Tommy La Stella: 3B, LAA at MIN ($3,200) (Early)

La Stella has been showing some power this season, hitting out nine home runs to go along with a .341 ISO and .424 wOBA. The majority of his balls off the bat are hard-hit flyballs as he comes in with a 41.8% Hard Contact Rate and 40.5% Flyball Rate. This is important against a high flyball pitcher like Jake Odorizzi, who is allowing flyballs at a 57.9% Rate. La Stella should get the opportunity to show off some of his power again today.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.: 3B, TOR at SF ($2,700) (Early)

You might as well lock this guy in before he inevitably becomes one of the higher priced batters on FanDuel. He has been looking more and more comfortable at the plate over the last week, and it all came to a head on Monday Night as he went 3-for-4 with two home runs. Everyone has been raving about the exit velocities on some of his hits over the past couple of games. He should be able to get some more hard contact against a pitcher in Shaun Anderson who will be making his Major League Debut.

Danny Santana: 1B, TEX at KC ($3,300) (Main)

The Rangers are one of the better hitting teams against right-handed pitching, and a big part of it has been the emergence of Danny Santana. He is raking against right-handed pitchers this season to the tune of a .386 wOBA and .236 ISO. He faces a mediocre pitcher in Jorge Lopez, who is even worse against left-handed hitters, allowing a .432 wOBA with six home runs this season. If Santana gets into the lineup, he will be a great value play.

Nolan Arenado: 3B, COL at BOS ($4,500) (Main)

It could be tough to fit Arenado and Verlander in the same lineup at their salaries. If you are interested in another pitcher, then Arenado should be the player you focus on paying up for on the main slate. He is boasting a whopping .538 wOBA against left-handed pitching so far this season with a .467 ISO. Unfortunately, he faces a pitcher in Eduardo Rodriguez who fares better against right-handed hitting, only allowing a .292 wOBA. These numbers for Arenado are still too good to ignore, and I intend on locking in Arenado whenever he faces a left-handed pitcher.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Clint Frazier: OF, NYY vs BAL ($3,500) (Early)

Frazier has been helping to keep the Yankees offense afloat as they await the return of their sluggers from injury. It will be tough to justify taking him out of the lineup once they do, as he has been raking with a .379 wOBA and .250 ISO so far this season against right-handed pitching. He faces off against David Hess in this one, a pitcher who I always target in DFS. He has allowed a .374 wOBA and seven home runs to right-handed hitters in seven starts this year.

Max Kepler: OF, MIN vs LAA ($3,200) (Early)

Kepler has been a bright spot in the rise of the Twins to the top of the American League Central. He has been excelling against right-handed pitching, boasting a .355 wOBA and .264 ISO with seven home runs. He faces Trevor Cahill, who has struggled against left-handed hitting with a .452 wOBA and a 45.6% Hard Contact Rate.

Nick Markakis: OF, ATL vs STL ($3,400) (Main)

The Braves are one of the better hitting teams against right-handed pitching, and we should see much of the same tonight as they face Michael Wacha with his 5.35 ERA. Markakis will be one of the players most likely to send Wacha to the showers early, as he comes in with a .399 wOBA and .212 ISO against right-handed pitching.

Avisail Garcia: OF, TB at MIA ($3,000) (Main)

It was a toss-up between Garcia and Austin Meadows for the Rays choice in this article, as both of them are the hottest hitters in the lineup. I will be targeting Garcia at a much lower salary, who comes in with a .387 wOBA against right-handed pitching to go along with a .221 ISO. Jose Urena is almost a must-target when he is on the mound, allowing a .346 wOBA so far this season. Garcia has hit two home runs in his last three games and has a good opportunity to hit another one today with Urena on the mound.
