Recent Update

7/17:The Boston Red Sox will activate starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez (knee) Monday to face off against Marcus Stroman in tonight’s tilt with the Toronto Blue Jays. In his last outing at triple-A Pawtucket Rodriguez allowed one run over 6 1/3 innings of action. It was good sign as his first couple outings were not very encouraging. Rodriguez hasn’t pitched for the Red Sox since July first when he suffered a knee injury in warm ups. Rodriguez was off to a good start to the season before being sidelined with injury. If he can get back on track he could prove valuable down the stretch.--Jared T - RotoBaller

Beat Writer Chatter

  • @alexspeier: Three strikeouts of Bautista by Rodriguez. Mixed performance: 7 Ks, 9 swings/misses, but a couple costly command lapses.
  • @alexspeier: Pearce demolished a 90 mph pitch. Listed as a four-seamer, though wonder if it was just a bad cutter. Rodriguez
  • @alexspeier: Rodriguez had Morales 0-2 but then stayed with fastball-fastball; the last wasn't elevated, and Morales his a missile of a 2-run double.
  • @alexspeier: 3 Blue Jays hitters. 3 first-pitch swings vs Rodriguez.
  • @alexspeier: Rodriguez's last 3 pitches: 93 mph to K Bautista (check-swing); 84 mph slider for swing/miss to Martin; 88 mph changeup swing/miss to Martin
  • @PeteAbe: Boyer left the game with a trainer. Just a hunch, he goes on the DL tomorrow for a reliever then that reliever is optioned for Rodriguez
