Should I start Keenan Allen, Marvin Harrison Jr., Xavier Worthy for Week 9? Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and recommendations for the 2025 NFL season.
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen, Arizona Cardinals wideout Marvin Harrison Jr., and Kansas City Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy are likely in the starting lineups of most fantasy football least for Week 9.
But each has been vulnerable to low-scoring games this season, and fantasy managers might be wondering if they're set to have good games this week.
That's not exactly easy to tell, but let's decide with analysis which should be started and which should be benched among these three for Week 9!

Should I Start Keenan Allen for Fantasy Football?
Allen is probably a player you should start every week. He's a favorite target of quarterback Justin Herbert, who's one of the highest-volume passers in the league this season. Right now, Allen is the WR8 overall in PPR fantasy leagues, and has put up monster performances so far.

There shouldn't be much thought here. Allen has games of 19.8, 17.1, 19.5, 10.8, and 28.9 PPR fantasy points. He has a ton of upside in one of the NFL's best offenses on a team that's forced to pass a lot with how poorly their defense is playing. Allen is 33, but he's still one of the NFL's best players for fantasy football.
Should I Start Marvin Harrison Jr. for Fantasy Football?
Harrison clearly doesn't have the upside Allen has, and it's a bit more difficult to decide whether to start him... usually. This week, the Cardinals will face the Dallas Cowboys, who have mostly been hapless on defense -- after the loss of star defensive end Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, they've been absolutely shredded.
Harrison has pretty much been what he was last season -- it doesn't seem like his game has taken a lot of strides. He's the WR37 overall, and even though he had his bye week, he's simply not been a difference-maker. He's a low-floor, low-ceiling player.

That doesn't mean he hasn't been capable of making good plays and that some aspects of his game haven't improved. And against such a bad defense, he's worth starting. I imagine he'll be able to reach double-digit PPR fantasy points regardless of who starts at QB.
Should I Start Xavier Worthy for Fantasy Football?
Worthy has been one of the bigger disappointments in fantasy football this season. He was expected to have huge production in the first six games, while the Chiefs WR1, Rashee Rice, was suspended. Instead, he suffered a torn labrum in Week 1, missed most of the first three games, and hasn't been very productive since returning.

It's pretty evident now that Rice is the clear WR1 on this team, and it's really not close. Worthy has often played second fiddle to even tight end Travis Kelce, who's out-gained and out-scored him in each of the last four games. Rice and Kelce appear to be the top-2 targets for Kansas City.
While Rice and Kelce are must-starts, Worthy is hardly worth flex consideration in 12-team leagues. He's a fine start in deep leagues, but though he has blazing speed, he simply does not have a downfield pass-catching role for this season. Tyquan Thornton, a free-agent signing this offseason, has been much more productive as a deep-ball catcher.
Xavier Worthy continues to not be a deep threat, just like he wasn't last year. I'm not sure if the Chiefs drafted him with the intention for him to be but I don't think it's happening. pic.twitter.com/m0rk78jbZ2

Worthy had issues with ball tracking in college that appear to be plaguing him in the NFL. The Chiefs tried their best to push the ball deep downfield to him last year, but he ended up with a paltry three catches for 60 yards combined on all his targets with an average depth of 20 or more yards. That won't cut it.
Rice is much better as a gadget player, because he's very tough to bring down and one of the best yards-after-catch threats at WR in the NFL.
