Matchday 32 Recap

More heartbreak for us last week. We went into the final game of the matchday needing both Bournemouth and Fulham to score. Bournemouth took the lead after 53 seconds. Unfortunately, that was the only goal of the game. Fulham blanked on the road for the first time since Matchday 1.

It wasn't due to a lack of effort. On any other day, we'd have bagged a nice parlay to keep the winning streak going. Alas, we head into the Easter weekend schedule on the back of a tough loss.

Saturday, April 19, 2025

Brentford (+140) vs. Brighton (+175) - 10:00 a.m. EDT

Score prediction: Brentford 1 – 1 Brighton

Brentford's point at Arsenal was an unlikely one. Despite the positive result, they have now won just once in their last six games. After winning seven of their first eight home league games, the Bees have failed to win any of their previous eight games at the Gtech Community Stadium (three draws and five losses).

Brighton's form hasn't been great either. They have failed to win in their last four games after winning their previous four in a row. Brighton have scored in seven of their last eight matches and have been unable to keep a clean sheet in any of their last six games. We'll be taking both teams to score in this fixture.

Crystal Palace (+140) vs. Bournemouth (+175) - 10:00 a.m. EDT

Score prediction: Crystal Palace 1 – 2 Bournemouth

Palace comes into this weekend having conceded five goals in back-to-back games. They have an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to next weekend, and it feels like they have had their eyes on that rather than the league in their last two games.

Bournemouth ended their six-game winless run in the league. While an away win looks appealing, we'll take over 2.5 total goals in the game. That's happened in each of Bournemouth's last 11 away matches in the EPL. With Palace's defense being shredded over the previous two games, goals here look likely.

Everton (+275) vs. Manchester City (-105) - 10:00 a.m. EDT

Score prediction: Everton 1 – 2 Manchester City

Everton ended their six-game run without a win. They've drawn six of their last nine EPL games, with only Liverpool managing to beat them in that period. The Toffees have scored in each of their last six home matches.

City's comeback last weekend means they are unbeaten in their last four league games. Although an away win does seem the likeliest outcome, Everton's resoluteness makes that tough to back. Instead, we'll take both teams scoring. Last weekend was a reminder that City still has plenty of goals in their ranks.

West Ham United (-205) vs. Southampton (+500) - 10:00 a.m. EDT

Score prediction: West Ham United 3 – 0 Southampton

West Ham's taken two points from their last five games. That's still nothing compared to Southampton, who are in danger of setting an unwanted Premier League record. Relegated teams sometimes relax and play better. We did not see that from the Saints last weekend.

West Ham is not a team I'd back with much confidence. But they have a far superior lineup. Without a manager, Southampton look even more hapless, and there's nothing to suggest this will be anything but a home win. That's our sole play in this game.

Aston Villa (+135) vs. Newcastle United (+185) - 12:30 p.m. EDT

Score prediction: Aston Villa 2 – 3 Newcastle United

Villa's heartbreaking exit from the Champions League may impact this weekend. They have a real battle on their hands for a top-5 finish and returning to the competition next season. And they have an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to next weekend.

Newcastle's won five straight league games, and a sixth would leave them on the brink of a return to the Champions League themselves. With 12 goals in their last three games, the Magpies are flying. This is a game set to be action-packed with so much at stake.

Because of that, we'll be backing there to be at least three total goals and for both sides to find the net. We'll also play an away win. Villa put so much into their midweek game against PSG, they may just run out of steam against a rampant Newcastle.

Sunday, April 20, 2025

Fulham (+180) vs. Chelsea (+145) - 9:00 a.m. EDT

Score prediction: Fulham 2 – 1 Chelsea

Fulham's now alternated a win with a loss in their last eight league games. That inconsistency has left them as long shots to qualify for the European competitions next season. Fulham did win the reverse fixture on Matchday 18.

Chelsea's own inconsistencies have left their Champions League qualification more difficult than it perhaps should be. They've taken just three points from their last eight away games. More away woes look likely here. We'll also bet on both teams to score as a hedge.

Ipswich Town (+650) vs. Arsenal (-245) - 9:00 a.m. EDT

Score prediction: Ipswich Town 0 – 2 Arsenal

Ipswich sit 14 points adrift from safety. Their relegation could be confirmed this weekend. The Tractor Boys have won just once at home all season (16 games) and have lost each of their last six games at Portman Road.

Arsenal will be riding high after their famous Champions League victory against Real Madrid. That competition will be their primary focus, so we shouldn't expect their strongest starting XI. We'll play under 2.5 total goals, an outcome that has occurred in seven of the Gunners' last eight EPL games.

Manchester United (+100) vs. Wolves (+265) - 9:00 a.m. EDT

Score prediction: Manchester United 1 – 2 Wolves

An away win will see Wolves move onto level points with Manchester United. It's surprising to see these odds so lopsided in favor of the home side. Especially when we consider the two posts below on X. Ruben Amorim's reign at Manchester United hasn't been close to impressive.

Wolves' appointment of a Portuguese Head Coach has worked out considerably better than their opponents this weekend. For that reason, we'll be playing an away win. The two sides are on opposite trajectories. The odds are too appealing not to back an away victory.

United staged a remarkable comeback on Thursday to reach the Europa League semi-final. But they still conceded four goals at home as a reminder of their defensive frailties. The hosts may have exerted so much energy that they'll lack something extra this weekend.

Leicester City (+900) vs. Liverpool (-425) - 11:30 a.m. EDT

Score prediction: Leicester City 0 – 3 Liverpool

If Arsenal lose to Ipswich earlier in the day, Liverpool will be crowned champions with a win. Regardless of Arsenal's game, this is set to be a comfortable away win. Leicester ended their eight-game goal drought last weekend. But they haven't scored in any of their last eight home games.

The Foxes have also conceded 21 goals in those eight home games. Liverpool scored two goals in each of their last six away games. No team comes close to the 40 goals they've scored away from home, so we'll play over 2.5 total goals in the game.

Monday, April 21, 2025

Tottenham Hotspur (+145) vs. Nottingham Forest (+170) - 3:00 p.m. EDT

Score prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 0 – 1 Nottingham Forest

Spurs could find themselves in 17th place by kick-off. Their hopes of salvaging their season rest on the Europa League after reaching the semi-final. Their solitary league win over the last six games came against Southampton. Spurs haven't beaten a side in the top half of the table since Matchday 12.

Spurs have lost nine of the 11 games against top-10 sides since then, including a 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest. Forest have lost their last two league games, but know they need to win if they want to keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive. We'll be backing them to do just that.
